  1. feargus is an engineer, as i will be someday (i hope ). the biowareians zeschuck und whatshisname are some kind of doctors. je started as webdesigner at bis. so i think, with proper talent and abilities, you'll have a good chance to start a career in game industry without having visited such a school.
  2. i neither care for kotor2, nor for multiplayer mode in an rpg. so if anyone would want me to buy kotor2, they should invest a lot of time in an interesting single player plot. that said, i hope obsidian isn't working on kotor2, but on something else. a hope that might soon be destroyed by reality
  3. damn! i had just written something rather lenghty, and then my pc decided to do a spontaneous restart  what i had written in short: - jeremy soule is overrated. compared to his earliest work i'm aware of, total annihilation, the later music had a significantly lower quality. examples: nwn, mw, giants.... exceptions: iwd, ds (so i was told) - hoenig would be a good choice, unfortunately, he's left business. - zur did awful work on iwd2, sorry to say that. - except not having the score done by above mentioned composers, i hope for: style. iwd had it, ps: t had it. iwd2, bg2 didn't have it. designers took things (icons, music, backgrounds) from the first parts and added completely different things (stroy, music, backgrounds of inconsistent quality) without thinking for consistency and a distinct look and feel. add an "imo" in every sentence above, and you'll have about what i had written before.
  4. just so i've said something to this horrible thread here: ahem, i hope obsidian will search for mods outside these boards here. people who explicitly want to be mods, shouldn't even be considered, imo...
  5. took a look, and found atmospheric. it's not exactly a fallout-kind of world, but really real looking. don't think that i'll be able to play it on my system, though...
  6. switzerland. just like sammael: in europe; sort of...
  7. yassir, that's what i meant. thx for claryfing (spl?).
  8. megatron: hehe, that was the joke in my post. sorry, didn't think a would be necessary... as long as the discussion goes about chinese economy, it might be ok, cause we all don't know much about it (i assume). but when it comes down to the usa politics, to the israel / arabian conflict, to germany's schr
  9. you all forgot, that there must be an idea first, before starting to work on a game. it's only then that all the stuff you guys mentioned come in.
  10. oh, eidos' stocks had gone up by about 500% or more after tomb raider 1 & 2, and caused other publishers to become greedy, too, and almost run to their doom. eidos lost all of their newly money slowly afterwards, dunno about the current situation, though.
  11. what good would that be on a game-dev board? i hope it's not tolerated, because "political discussions" turn out to be a great throwing around of polemic opinions. the one with the fastest tongue and greatest mouth wins. i'm usually not that one, so such discussions suck, imo.
  12. uh, stocks were never good to gamedevs. take eidos, iply, anything... dangerous thing, if you asked me. course you don't, so...
  13. i was waiting for these boards to open for quite some time now, and yesterday was the day. i put my rpg-faith in obsidian. also, being one of the early members is always good 2 all these, who don't konw: then don't post.
  14. you all want sequels to some admittedly good games. i don't find that interesting. come up with something new, original, and everything will be just fine (if you do it right, that is). if you produce a sequel to a game with a big fanbase, there will be complaints down to fireland... you won't be able to make everybody like your sequel, cause a) it's not done by the same people that did the predecessor. B) there will not enough / correct references to satisfy the real fanboys / -girls c) a sequel won't be able to reproduce the exact same look & feel of the original game d) etc.etc. ad infinitum real fo fanboys had complaints about fo2. bg fans weren't happy with bg2. iwd 2 wasn't as cool as iwd1. eliteforce2 didn't evoke the beloved voyager feeling. just to name a few examples.
  15. that makes me remember the nwn fans on some other boards... i hope that won't happen. better no driving away possible buyers of obsidian products, wether it's kotor or anything else. we want that studio to survive, don't we?
  16. megatron: why, it's allright. fits his avatar's face
  17. then i suggest, it's ok here in the suggestions-board, after these 2 suggestions, isn't it. kc-tang: luckily, people do and did change. bis sure made great games, but they were often, if not always, released before everything was finished (except maybe iwd1). furthermore, there were far too many "rohrkrepierer", as you'd say in german, (no idea how to say it in english). games, that were being developed for quite some time, but then left unfinished, to death. i hope, that'll change with the new company.
  18. yassir, and i've contributet to that (i hope ) by spreading the word on my "main"board (haha). [edit] oh, i'm number 132. would have preferred 123, but at least 132 is 44*3, and 3's my favourite number, so wth... *shrug*
  19. my nick's samm, cause my name's sam.m. reeally original, isn't it. i have first used it the first time i registered to an internet board and ever used it since. my avatar shows william faith from faith and the muse. great music, my favourite at the moment.
  20. uhuh, did work here, too, after the first try and yeah, that ominous guildmaster would interest me as well. is he one of obsidian? or might he be a mod, linked with them only via internet? questions rise and answers fall... (perhaps )
  21. yepp, it will be a good game. and also if i wouldn't be sure of that, i'd still take that option from the poll: rises the morale of the obsidian-devs
  22. i'd love to see another "real world person in sci-fi / fantasy" setting. sounds weird? well, i don't know how to put it better, cause, hey, its 2.17 am, and i just want to go to sleep... an example for that setting could be outcast. was that not a great, sort of "real" feeling and original world?
  23. yeah, the big guessing has started, as usual. funny, that people don't have anything better to do. on the other hand, that's my first post on the obsidian boards, and i'm not looking for a fight. we don't have any real information on what obsidian is working on right now, so i think it's normal to try and figure out what they're doing. ahem, what was my point? ... ah: hope, that obsidian is going to come up with something origial, new, and cool, not just some sequel or so. should that be the case, however, it's still ok, cause we know them guys of obsidian won't produce anything bad.
