  1. When I read the title, I thoght of this: Cooking with goths well, but since it's about spam, I mean, SPAM, I'll leave the thread to do something useful. Cooking, for example.
  2. tristania - libre (the whole 'ashes' album, actually, just at the first track good speakers / headphones are key...) [edit] can't type today [edit2] can't stop listening to music... Vast - Free
  3. no longer true. prices of 2900xt dropped about 50 euro and it's currently only slightly more expensive than a GTS, performace improved with new drivers to surpass the gts by some margin (more to come). Don't test it with TSAA (or however the transparency-aa is called @ati), because this is still buggy (too slow) with current drivers. It's a pretty good deal right now (if you don't calculate electricity costs ). [edit] not really good english, tried to fix this...
  4. custom built, two and a half years ago. was pretty high-end then (bougth second best of available parts to get a slightly better price/performance ratio ), and is still usable for nwn2.
  5. that looks... wait, has it been said before?...
  6. Calax: No, I haven't. I heard that a) the game gets less interesting the longer you play and b) it won't work well enough on my computer for me to enjoy it. So I saved my money for a good RPG and only bought Prey from the bargain bin after having finished NWN2, Etherlords and IWD2 (for the third time).
  7. Ah, just finished Prey Was quite refreshing for a shooter an audiovisually well done (except some weirdly blurry textures)... two scenes I really liked: look, it's one of the cool riddles! this reminded me of bloodlines...
  8. very cool news! but: this suprprise is so secret it refuses to play on my system :ninja10: (divx and xvid are installed, what else could be needed?)
  9. My girlfriend's x1900gt is running just fine, too. And very silent, thanks to Zalman I'm looking forward to the next gen of graphics-cards (post 8800 / 2900), because by then, I should have enogh money to replace my computer and DX 10 should be more widely used.
  10. I would have liked more of the positive aspects (because there are many) to be mentioned in this interview, although it's good to see that a Dev sees the truth behind all rants. Well, with new elven heads and the height/girth sliders one more point of critique (that Mr Sawyer didn't mention) is gone and a replay of the campaign is getting near
  11. Official figures would be interesting. I hope NWN2 does well. Two copies of CE here (lawful good and chaotic evil). I had planned to play solo for one run, and the second time via LAN in co-op with my girlfriend, whom I bought the 2nd copy for. Unfortunately, there were a couple of bugs in the LAN game, one of which must be fixed before we can try it again. No regret here, as the LG-Edition cost like 2
  12. What did you like/dislike about it? Taks will benefit from more opinions. If you felt to slow casting a spell, you could "pre-cast" it and store it in a little Icon, so that would not a problem (to me at least )
  13. Tale: I'm not too big a fan of it, I just enjoyed it quite a lot. It has quite clumsy controls and probably looks outdated by now (the main char was visually disturbing even at the time of release, how fortunate it is FP). But: it has quite some interactive elements (catching fish and roasting it on fire, baking bread, brewing potions using a bottle, water, herbs, a mortar and an alchemical toolset etc). The magic system is great: you can find hidden runes to combine to new spells, which you draw with your mouse to create the spell-effect. It has (or had for the time) very good sound and music, creating quite some atmosphere. It is humorous, too, and the story and setting is fantasy but felt still all new to me thanks to twists and interactive riddles, though I heard it was similar to Ultima Underworld which I never played. Hope this helps!
  14. Pointless FF bashing sucks. That it was started by the thread-opener doesn't make it on topic, does it? They said at the end of march:

    e3

some threads further down: sega and thq try to compensate for the lack of an e3.
  16. There is an interview on gamasutra with an Ageia Marketing guy. Nothing really new in it, it focuses on gameplay-affecting physics and on the free sdk.
  17. Agreed on faster and partially on stronger. But 1. you can't really play a character in PnP that is smarter than you, you can just roll a die on an Int or Knowledge check to be given some Insight by the DM. You can't roleplay your character to be smarter than you as a player really are. 2. you can play a character that is more skilled than you in LARP: You can successfully pick a lock for example, disable a trap, brew a potion or some other activity that you couldn't do in RL. (or probably that second point is not true, as I've never LARPed so far) [edit] gender-change is easy
  18. I'm sure LARP is fun - probably one of the few places to find 'real' RP (as you're pretty limited in CRPGs and PnP tends to be relying too much on stats and dice rolls). Unfortunately I'm not that good an actor, lack some equipment, and never found the time (or courage ) to go to one. Btw, I can laugh about things that are funny, even or especially if it concerns a hobby of mine... This one is staged, but I didn't know that at first...
  19. shryke: jethro tull - aqualung live
  20. You were one of the people complaining about roleplaying-possibilites in games. So now, how does this build fit that? Ok, you put 2 points in cha and int, but still all I see is "ENGINE FIGHT, NO TALK" written on that characters forhead
  21. Le' rue Delashay - chaos claims the macrocosm pretty strange and scary. i like it
  22. sidenote: You are confusing things: Gromnir the forum-user was actually the model for the son of Bhaal on topic: PnP is in my opinion and experience a bad comparison for a CRPG. As well as movies. You even can't compare an RPG to another RPG, as there are so many ways of telling a story, of giving the player the feeling of playing a 'character' in this story, that all you can do is saying what you'd like to see in an RPG. Some people here are doing that, some others are generalizing, and to those individuals: Let games stand as individually as you do. They can be fun or boring, and it does not depend on single things like story, cinematics, gameplay, graphics, but on how well all elements play together, and on your mood while playing it. If you're tired, then the music of Baten Kaitos will put you in a dreamlike state while keeping you awake with it's fast paced combat, a very cool experience. If you're keen on playing a character of your own design, you'll loath the game. If you're tired while playing Morrowind, you'll fall asleep in no time. If you're keen on playing a character of your own design, you'll probably like the game. Both games gained some critical acclaim in their own right. (I mentioned no Obsidian or BlackIsle games on purpose) What I mean to say is: There are so many ways to design a CRPG that is viewed and enjoyed as a good game by customers, that all one can say is what makes one certain game good or bad for him/her and him/her alone. Don't judge, but be creative, give input and opinions, and hope you'll find some game that suits your current taste in games. After all, one's own criteria for a good game change with time, experience, mood...
  23. Whoa, that's pretty awesome, I think So hovering a foot above the ground could be implemented and used for play (only on a PW, as it doesn't add anything but coolness), as creatures could attack anyone hovering one foot above the ground anyway. And hovering 20 ft. or something above ground level could be implemented for cutscenes, for example... One could design an area with cliffs or a wall that are set to not have collision detection for a cutscene, and let some wizard fly up there (in fact, he would still be hovering above the ground beneath the cliffs/wall, but it would look as if he had flown up there). End the cutscene and return the camera to the player character, facing an identicall wall/cliff with an identical wizard standing upon it... An other useful thing that comes to mind would be fishes 'swimming' at different heights in an underwater level. Could we have any access to controlling character height above ground (or absolute height) inside this cylinder? I'm sure this could be used in many ways, even if it's "just" an animation and not any kind of 'real' flight.

  25. I too really loved the atmosphere in IWD1 (as well as the rest of the game). This might be because of the icy setting, the wonderful music, the narrator, the artwork. IWD2 didn't do that good a job in my opinion (inferior rendering in most scenes, less consistent artwork, far inferior music, lack of very cool plot twist), but it was a tactically challenging and very fun game. And how I like that interview :D
