  1. faith and the muse - the burning season
  2. sorry guys, I can't spare you... in my tummy party party and elija frodo in lsd-land
  3. Why "if"? It's like "if the president of the US before (the current) Bush was named Clinton" - he's questioning a fact. Next: there are no european researchers in jail because of trying to analyze the gasing of jews from a different perspective - there are some demagogic neonazis in jail because they a) defend the inhumanity of Hitler's and some fascit's regimes as helpful b) say that all historic facts about that are only "facts" based on conspiracy (most likely lead by scheming jews). That man is provoking and nothing else. I can't believe he was allowed to speak in a University, probably even convincing students of his good intentions. He's using freedom of speech against the country defending it... Imo, freedom should end where it constricts the freedom of others - and Ahmedinejad does that in a most brutal way. Ahmedinejad could care less about what happens to Palestinian people - after all, they used to be outcasts, probably killed by the likes of Mr. Iranian President. It just serves his purpose of defending this people denied a safe place to live. Israel is no punishment for the Palestinian or whatever he implies here. I agree that the situation seems really bad in Israel - for every inhabitant. But there is no country named Palestine (and never was), so his talk about "palestinian muslims, jews and christians" referring to muslims, jews and christians living in Israel is nothing but a provocation again. Whatever he tries to achieve with his visit to the US, it can't be seen as anything but a proof of his two-faced-ness. I'm not quite sure why he's so eager for war, but his "apocalyptic beliefs" would be a reason... And it's not fair of comparing him to Bush - while Bush seems like a warmongering scarecrow filled with straw and little clue, Ahmedinejad seems like an warmongering, insane but still scheming, powerhungry, slippery and slimy individual up to mischief. I agree with much you've said, but have to intervene here: Hitler did not really cloak his motives. According to newspapers from the 1920ies I read a few days ago, people at that time were very nationalistic and antisemitic indeed, so they were ready, no, eager, to fight all those "lesser beings" in other countries and jews in their own country long before Hitler rose to power. He just made the majorities wishes come true, as was the case with the first world war.
  4. Radiohead - Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tinbox Listening to the whole amesiac-album, actually. Really good indeed. [edit] Shryke: I heard that all things metal / gothic are a quite rare in new zealand. Someone from there visiting switzerland was really excited to be able to see mortiis and deathstars live here
  5. Well then, pleased to meet you. I replaced my old GF 6800 GT with a x1950pro until I've saved enough money for a new PC. Did not regret it for one second, as it didn't cause any problems. Compared to the crappy update process of the nVidia-driver, where I always had to delete some registry entries and modifying some others before the new driver would let me install it... Well, the old card itself was very good, so were the GF 4400 and the GF 2 MX before it, but so is my "new" ATI. Plus, it has noticably increased image quality (and speed of course). 8600 wasn't recommended too enthusiastically (esp. if compared to its predecessors 6600 and 7600) by reviewers, as it is much slower than the higher end cards of its generation, and slower than the "performance" cards from the previous generations. The same is true for ATI's current mid-range cards. I'd currently not invest in those...
  6. yeah, better ati as a whole brand of gfx cards... anyway, it's not the newest thing, but if you get it cheap and don't worry about the power consumption of a sli-setup, and have a compatible mainboard: go get it
  7. Thank you, that was very interesting There currently is a lot of new background-information surfacing on both of the game and on its creation process. Besides the great interview and material provided by you and Colin McComb on RPGWatch, there is one with Guido Henkel as well (producer). He obviously hated being a producer, having to tell people what they were doing wrong or not fast enough, or even fire them, and being squashed between Interplay's Management and the team on Torment - especially, since the game was the best, most beatuiful and interesting one he's worked on. Source: dsa game (german website on an upcoming game based on "the dark eye"-rpg-system)
  8. Don't use such reasoning, please... It's a) certain not to be always true b) actually good to know war only from film c) probable that not many people having survived a war are able to express that in music. Anyway, I'm glad that you have had success in what you wanted
  9. Deathstars - Cyanide actually listening to the whole album, but this probably is the most accessible track, and the youtube-quality is high enough...
  10. for industrial fans, cooks, and bonnie tyler nostalgics... [edit] I should probably warn you about partial nudity in this video
  11. nine inch nails - the great destroyer was very impressive to see that live
  12. haha, that one is mean... like "the humans are dead" best, though wasn't it posted here before? if not: here you go :D
  13. live - lighning crashes still can't stop listening to throwing copper
  14. ha! hope kayne sells enogh that we get rid of 50cent. spams mtv, while i've never seen any kayne west-thing there. ROCK (and classics, and wave, and futurepop, and ebm and...) ftw
  15. live - the dam at otter creek for throwing copper!
  16. I thought I posted an image yesterday, but it got deleted with all those bokishi's nda-problematiques It's probably not the best combination, playing Nosferatu and working for the anarchs, but my little PC-upgrade let me play the game on 1280x1024 with HQ 4xAAA and 8xAnisotropic Filtering (Full Trilinear), so I had to try something new (that would be no news if my last post still existed ). vampire bloodlines
  17. Nerve Filter - Sun Rise nicely melodic, purely electronic. never heard of the band before, but worth a listen it seems
  18. decoded feedback - phoenix
  19. Does it matter wether the game itself is philosophical? It got me thinking, it inspired thoughts about questions not only directly asked in the game, but also questions coming up associatively. That's more than any other game (and most books and films) has managed. It made me philosophical - and I think a game itself as something rather abstract cannot be philosophical anyway. All a game can do is what Torment has done, be it by philosophical NPCs (they are pseudo-philosophical, as figures in a game can't really think) or situations constructed by the designers. Yes, games can be art. "Art" has to be defined, of course, but I don't think it's violating a common feeling of what "art" is, when the definition is chosen such that certain games fit in.
  20. fields of the nephilim - new gold dawn fields of the nephilim - she so beautiful... maybe I should buy the whole album someday.
  21. This is what I think not only applies to the world in general, but also specifically to this country. We swiss may not notice how stupid we are, until something really devastating happens because of our racist election/ballot-behaviour. Well, I have to vote, wait and see what happens after this election campaign...
  22. your hd seems a bit expensive, beinga sataI and "only" 150GB... also, ddr2 800 (bandwidth 12 gb/sec in dual-channel) on an intel system with an fsb of 1333 (bandwidth 10.6 gb/sec) is unnecessary. ddr2 667 (bandwidth equal to the one offered by the fsb) would be enough. just some thoughts...
  23. religious goads aside: rowan atkinson, fitting to the situation in swiss parliament that may be about to come
  24. Don't entirely trust my knowledge, as I don't know this first hand, but am reciting what I heard, have read, and seen on TV (probably the most unreliable source in the world) Imo no sane, even slightly informed person could think becoming swiss is easy or immigration laws here are soft - which says much about said party and their followers...
  25. got a tt myself (tsunami). its ok, though it doesn't look as good as on the pictures, since the front leds are not dispersing their light as shown there. plus, the front intake fan sometimes causes the case to resonate, which could easily be cured by decoupling (?) it from the case by some rubber washers. tt is a known brand, can't go really wrong. also, antec might be worth a look. google for some reviews if you like the looks of a case. btw, are you going to buy a phenom when they come out? the bar
