  1. yes, i sure will, after all, its obsidian's first game. i won't buy it happily, though... i mean, great chance for obsidian to start out with commercial success, and even critical praise - somehow, everybody was so excited about kotor1. but, well, i would have loved to see obsidian develop something new and original. 'twas all for naught....
  2. i can't confirm this, as anyone can't confirm any rumor on kotor2... btw, i wouldn't care about kotor2 multiplayer. nor would i care much about kotor2 anyway.
  3. yes, i really love it, too. good thing that if you place your ta-cd in a cd-player, it will play the soundtrack the only other game that i know, which has its music stored in cda-format is outcast, which has a really impressive score, too (composer: bill brown). michael hoenig isn't in game-music business anymore, unfortunately. i can't give you any sources about that, but afair it was some bis-member who wrote that.
  4. man, he's also known as "the imperator" in these parts of the world. happy birthday i. urquharth! ergo bibabmus dum licet esse bene
  5. someone told me that elfan made some simpsons game's music ... strange, but if he does even compose for such lame games (no offense), why not for darker, more serious ones? it might be a question of ... funds, though
  6. not soule again... he's overrated by many and hasn't done half as good as people seem to think... look here , at gojiro's post. do i repeat myself when i say "go for mark morgan!"? it can't be said enogh, anyway... and please, dear obsidian, try and make your publisher continue black isle's tradition of supreme voice-over quality.
  7. then visit a mosque too, one day. it will sure be worth it, considering you as a peron interested in religions. it's good to see that not all religious people are so childishly fixed on their own ("one and only") belief.
  8. interesting questions that you name there, monte carlo. now that al quaida seems to take responsibility, another possible "resason" for the bombing is becoming less possible: german readers follow this link. long story short, it was speculated, that eta (hardcore basque "liberation" organisation) was coming to an end, and the attack was a last sign of life, compareable to the ending of raf.
  9. terrorism isn't restricted to iraq-war supporters. it's not meant to punish, but to destroy lifes in a way that attracts attention. furthermore, the terrorism-theme isn't as hyped here as it seems to be in the usa. there's something about it in the papers every day, mostly about the israel-palestine conflict, but no 24/7 reports. thank god for that, spreading needless fear does no good, as it creates aggression, as seen before...
  10. rock is fun in nfs, but obsidian: please never ever use it in an rpg (unless it's a modern day setting and a rockband is performing ingame on stage, or out of a radio).
  11. without any new information and manny silly and uniteresting threads, i just check all the forums every day, and then log out. no news -> no post, simple as that.

    Manga

i do consider manga as art, just as western comics as well. while the mickey mouse, superman (and all these schtupid hero-stuff) and - on the manga-side - dragonball or sailor moon kind of comics are much too comercially oriented and lack in style (imo), there are still gifted persons drawing them. owning only record of lodoss war (yeah, you've got to start somwhere ), akira, eden and short stories by hiroki endo, but having read all the available dragonball (see rolw), kenshin, angel sanctury, 3x3 eyes, fushigi yugi (shojo, ayayay ...) and ranma, i am sort of a "manga fan". especially the ones created for a more adult reader (not listed here, we do have younger children on these boards ) are intriguing in terms of drawing furiosity and storytelling, and are disturbingly gorey. the filmlike technique of sudden cuts or slow fades, brutal scenes and absolute idylle make mangas to a piece of art to me.
  13. if that consoles you: my connection was always @ about 3.6 k... it's gotten a little faster now that broadband works (took them guys from cablecom 7 weeks...), at last!
  14. it always depends on developing cost. planescape: torment did come out even, with 200000 copies sold, afair. iwd1 has quickly sold unexpectedly well and thus bis / interplay made profit. don't know about numbers, but it must have been about a quarter of a million units sold?
  15. voice over for pc is imo quite unimportant. the npcs however do profit a lot of characterization an personality. bis had done very well up to now (don't know about lionheart - and don't care, either), especially on iwd1. i've never played ps: t in englisch, but it was the only german spoken game ever whose voice over i've found really enjoyable.
  16. wth are commandos?
  17. you mean toee? you had d&d rules (yes, i'm aware that some of them were broken. still i find the tb combat in toee really cool). you could talk to people and monsters, and you could kill people and monsters. you could find interesting, powerful items, or forge them. your party got stronger by gaining experience, and thus leveling up. thats rpg, atlthough very combat-oriented. [edit] call of ctuluh website won't run on firebird
  18. iolo, mkreku: thx for the info. i'll try to be better informed before posting. planeshift might be the first mmorpg i participate in. looks good and is free, wow

    Bye, Pierce

I agree with this. Lazenby did a great job, but wasn't Bond. If Dalton or Connery had been Bond for that movie, I imagine it would have been everyone's favorite (it's my fave, though that might be 'cause I have a thing for Teresa). what he said - but take connery out. he may have been the original bond (in the movies) but dalton gave bond a lot more profile. imo, of course. if they are to make a movie about little james i think jude law would be a very good choice indeed.
  20. roshan: banghra, hm? i only know the highly popular panjabi mc... his music is ok imo. i live of music. the bands i really love include: lamb, portishead, radiohead, tricky, massive attack, sigur ros, asian dub foundation, the beatles, chemical brothers, pearl jam, u2, st. germain, tosca, ben folds, rage against the machine (but i think that phase of mine is about to end, and with it the offspring, toten hosen and linkin park), muse, madrugada, and faith and the muse, obviously. that list is far from complete. i'm right now listening to blackmore's night, not sure wether i like that medieaval sound. if i should decide to like it , include schandmaul, lacrimosa, subway to sally, evanescence, nightwish to the list above. [edit] how could i forget bowie and goldfrapp?
  21. [ot] try to move your cursor over the woman at the right on the inxle bard's tale site, and then do so several times. guess what happens? [/ot] i always thought that stalker is a fps, not an rpg. and what about adding jade empire to the list?
  22. sounds like fish-flavoured beer, just imagine how most disgusting that would taste, when even hempbeer makes your stomach breakdance... *uargh*
  23. tell that the torn-team i don't like the idea of city-building, except it's a political rpg about becoming mayor or some other boring thing like that. much more interesting would it be to strenghthen your stronghold with defenses, commanding troops (if you're a fighter) or ambushing caravans (as rogue character) etc. making an rpg with the options of bf1942 or nolf would be great: flying, swimming, driving...
  24. gray / black with white text on it (read: the current skin) is very readable, and imo less difficult or tyring to read than a light skin with black text. but yeah, as long as everybody gets the skin he likes, it doesn't hurt. i suggest making a dark violet / green one, which would spread a nice, vegetable atmosphere
  25. eh, what's that on your avatar why does anybody care for a borthel in a game (or in real life)? romances are much more interesting. i don't see many borthels in the real world, so why should in a game, where there are 10 to 20 important houses, 3 of which are hotels or bars, 1 be a borthel? that does not seem realistic (at least to me).
