A list of RPGs in development
you mean toee? you had d&d rules (yes, i'm aware that some of them were broken. still i find the tb combat in toee really cool). you could talk to people and monsters, and you could kill people and monsters. you could find interesting, powerful items, or forge them. your party got stronger by gaining experience, and thus leveling up. thats rpg, atlthough very combat-oriented. [edit] call of ctuluh website won't run on firebird

A list of RPGs in development
iolo, mkreku: thx for the info. i'll try to be better informed before posting. planeshift might be the first mmorpg i participate in. looks good and is free, wow

Bye, Pierce
I agree with this. Lazenby did a great job, but wasn't Bond. If Dalton or Connery had been Bond for that movie, I imagine it would have been everyone's favorite (it's my fave, though that might be 'cause I have a thing for Teresa). what he said - but take connery out. he may have been the original bond (in the movies) but dalton gave bond a lot more profile. imo, of course. if they are to make a movie about little james i think jude law would be a very good choice indeed.

whats your favorite type of music :p
roshan: banghra, hm? i only know the highly popular panjabi mc... his music is ok imo. i live of music. the bands i really love include: lamb, portishead, radiohead, tricky, massive attack, sigur ros, asian dub foundation, the beatles, chemical brothers, pearl jam, u2, st. germain, tosca, ben folds, rage against the machine (but i think that phase of mine is about to end, and with it the offspring, toten hosen and linkin park), muse, madrugada, and faith and the muse, obviously. that list is far from complete. i'm right now listening to blackmore's night, not sure wether i like that medieaval sound. if i should decide to like it , include schandmaul, lacrimosa, subway to sally, evanescence, nightwish to the list above. [edit] how could i forget bowie and goldfrapp?

[ot] try to move your cursor over the woman at the right on the inxle bard's tale site, and then do so several times. guess what happens? [/ot] i always thought that stalker is a fps, not an rpg. and what about adding jade empire to the list?

Origin Of Your Name And Avatar
sounds like fish-flavoured beer, just imagine how most disgusting that would taste, when even hempbeer makes your stomach breakdance... *uargh*

New Ideas That Could Be Seen In An RPG
tell that the torn-team i don't like the idea of city-building, except it's a political rpg about becoming mayor or some other boring thing like that. much more interesting would it be to strenghthen your stronghold with defenses, commanding troops (if you're a fighter) or ambushing caravans (as rogue character) etc. making an rpg with the options of bf1942 or nolf would be great: flying, swimming, driving...

Skins and colors
gray / black with white text on it (read: the current skin) is very readable, and imo less difficult or tyring to read than a light skin with black text. but yeah, as long as everybody gets the skin he likes, it doesn't hurt. i suggest making a dark violet / green one, which would spread a nice, vegetable atmosphere

will project X feature a brothel?
eh, what's that on your avatar why does anybody care for a borthel in a game (or in real life)? romances are much more interesting. i don't see many borthels in the real world, so why should in a game, where there are 10 to 20 important houses, 3 of which are hotels or bars, 1 be a borthel? that does not seem realistic (at least to me).

Location (no age or sex required... yet)
there are surprisingly many scandinavian guys on these boards. and only one other swiss-cheese-eater that i'm aware of... it would be fun to have a map with a 3d-diagramme, that shows how many people from each country are registered. anyone got some spare time to do that?

Horror Films
have you ever watched army of darkness? i found it a cheap, real great fun fantasy movie. ash, what's his name again... bruce campbell looks good, too, so you might like it. the ordered copy of the wicker man has arrived today, and i just finished watching. i didn't find it scary at all, but it's one of the best films in my (humble) collection. such beauty! the dark nature of our past hidden on a surprisingly lush island in scotland... highly recommendable!

The Magical Volo thread!
yes, i should do that too, i'm against usermods normally. no yes, that is very nicely said. as long as their colour isn't that of flaming and rulebreaking, trolling and spamming...
-
What view would you like in Project X?
i voted for iso (prerendered backgrounds). now, i'm not so sure of that, cause the 3d iso-look of jefferson was very pleasing indeed...

The Magical Volo thread!
i'm all for volourn. the dwarf ain't an evil one, and a sharp tounge is an asset for a mod.

Suggestions for future game programmers?
why "even"? especially those teaching. not many a programmer would get the idea by himself to design a programme into every detail before actually programm it. it's only litte practice-oriented schools / universities that teach this. for example the one i'm attending to... [edit] a little unconcentrated today... grammar & syntax check....

The importance of Mood/Atmosphere
i'm soo sorry, (sort of ). when he does the music for the tv series, why not do it for the games, too. never heard of liath, thogh.
-
The importance of Mood/Atmosphere
yeah, he sure is a great composer. specially so, when it the mood is a little darker, or so i'm told. the question is: who's going to pay him? few studios can spare a million or two just for the music. good ambient sound adds just as much, if not more, to a games atmosphere. both soundscapes can blend into one, that's perfect, think of iwd1's kuldahar. atmosphere has also a lot to do with style. style isn't created with photorealism. imagine how awful warcraftIII would have looked with poto-textures *coughs* take max payne, where the first part used photo-textures, but the second, much better looking, did not. if menues, graphics, writing and sound fit together with the story, only then a game evokes truly immersive atmosphere. [edit] grammar correction.

Horror Films
you live dangerously, my friend... no really, if an american mainstream director stands for disturbing and irritating movies, which keep you thinking for a loong time after you've watched them, it's david lynch. what do you dislike so much?
-
Horror Films
hehe, same here, mr. teatime. i bought event horizon afterwards and didn't find it quite as good as before. [edit] thanks, mistress. will have a look on amazon.

Horror Films
i've heard of that movie. faith and the muse actually covered one song of its soundtrack problem is, that it's not available in europe... must be quite old, eh? any idea how to get a copy?

WHY THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CALLED THE WWoT...
yes they would; the only difference would be, that it'd have a reason i don't care for the second "way" (no, nothing to do with buddhism. or was it "middle" instead of "second"?...). judging by all the meaningful threads in this part of the board, it's way way off topic anyway, wheter it bears that traditional name or not.

Git the Planescape Licence!
yeah, i'm aware of that. bis developed something for torn, afair. plus, they have the knownledge of creating an original engine, as bis did that for jefferson. maybe obsidian could reuse these things? the other idea was man, i'm quoting myself here. i should get some sleep...
-
Looking for the guys who worked on BG2...
uh, that's obsidian here, not bioware.... try it on their forums.
-
Git the Planescape Licence!
i don't know necromacer's or fantasy flight's games ... anyway, they could as well invent a new ruleset. not an easy task though. perhaps a license for rules, not settings, exist, so that obsidian could buy that and make their own, original setting. that would be a real advantage, because they don't have to make up rules on their own, and thus could spend more time in an involving storyline.
-
Git the Planescape Licence!
well... does sigil not exist in the manual of the planes, as well as tieflings, aasimar, all the baator-guys and their chaotic counterparts? a game with an open d20 license could do the job, no? [edit] i agree with tea. the setting sure was cool, but not the main point.
