  1. Walking Dead is coming soon. Tomb Raider is already there (the "good old" ones anyway). Shady Sands: Thanks for the very generous offer, but for games available at both places, I don't choose Steam even for free
  2. In some niches, they can compete on the CPU front. Notably they could in the cheaper mobile sector if there hadn't been a certain very appealing "contra revenue" strategy in place. Let's see if Zen puts them back into the mainstream...
  3. Wouldn't bother talking again to a guy that sends me videos with these titles either. To answer the question from the title Do Women Earn Less Than Men?": Here (Switzerland) they do, yes. Details if necessary:
  4. That is one hell of a sale! Almost too much going on there... Should I get Startopia? It seems pretty cool :D
  5. This is sooo backed :D I don't think so. It was a somewhat slow start in comparison, and, as far as I remember, InXile (or Fargo personally) matched the Backer's money with their own for WL 2 and Torment. I really hope it paid off (in case of WL 2) / will pay off (TToN) with a lot of interest
  6. My own build just made a step back Had to install the stock cooler on my 7970 because the pump of the AC Hybrid finally gave up the ghost. That thing is loud under full load! And the increased temperatures noticably influence power draw as well. Fiji can't come fast enough. Or 1x nm... Yeah, seen from above (Titan X --> 980 Ti) and using its MSRP, the 980 Ti seems like a good deal Seen from below (780 Ti / 290 --> 980 Ti) and with real world prices around here - not so much. Still, it's somehow reassuring to see Bokishi back in High End territory CF / SLi may make a lot more sense with DX12 and Vulkan, if the developers of the widespread engines (thinking of Epic, Crytek, Unity but also upcoming ones like Oxide) get thrown enough money at to implement really good MGPU support. 16th of June may be underwhelming, considering that the really big architectural leaps will be made in the next, smaller node - I'm thinking of both GPUs and RAM (HBM) here. Also, imho, the GPU makers are not really under that much pressure until VR gets serious market share. [edit] Reminded myself that this is an American forum - removed swear words Self censorship hoorray
  7. Weird? Beautiful? Not sure, but I don't care because I love it
  8. Just that it's currently at place 5 (Hero) and 16 (Champion) of gog's charts - no absolute numbers.
  9. Then that may be the reason why you don't have the documentation. It is an extra that is part of the Champion's Edition.
  10. Nicely done, except for the "hard" transition between scenes - if you'll revisit the documentary, maybe add a fade effect? Or at least play some sounds of the following scene at the end of the previous scene to make the transition seem softer? As a software developer in comparatively smaller projects (we do not have an audience in the hundred thousands or even millions o_O ) I was somewhat shocked about the raw number of bugs that Tim Cain had on his fix list - and impressed by how fast he got that number down. Currently considering an offer for him to join our team to squash bugs [edit] @Evange: What edition did you pre-order? I think the documentary is not part of all editions.
  11. I find it interesting that nations (or their "heads") apparently have an interest in putting into effect rules/laws, as secretly as possible, that weaken their own position against corporations. And all of that in a time where there is that current trend of nations having to pay corporations to save the corporations or themselves (at least the US and Switzerland did bail out major financial institutions (possibly many others but for those I know for sure), spending taxpayer money on keeping alive these mismanaged big corporations, while Greece currently bleeds for having "over-borrowed" from such big financial corporations in the recent past, and again taxpayers have to cover for corporation's losses) So, if a nation would actually act in the interest of its citizens, would it really, consciously put itself in a weaker position against Gekko-esqe greed? No wonder such treaties are kept secret. Well, thanks to TPP and other such treaties, maybe in time the perception of the evil state that keeps taking and passing laws that narrow our liberties will be replaced by the perception of the evil corporations that keep taking and dictating laws that strip our freedom away. Oh, and also, more interesting for "us" Europeans: TTIP.
  12. Very unexpected to me. I don't currently see much of a political movement to liberalize any but economic laws. Cheers Ireland.
  13. Apparently, I killed Music :D (the thread anyway)
  14. It's called "Sin", but youtube doesn't know - but now you guys do Don't know why they count to silly numbers all the time, but "your soul will be free tonight", which is awesome :D
  15. Current favourite from that excellent ambient soundtrack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7OEh-F9KMI
  16. Couldn't you use both of them? If either fails, you'd still have the other one. None of them seems significantly better than the other, just judging by those benchmark numbers. Except if you're talking about a laptop, where the lower power dissipation of the Samsung matters. Up until the Samsung 840 (non-EVO), I'd have recommended to just keep the Samsung, but ever since then, Samsung really lost any reasonable basis for their reputation of building really solid solid state drives...
  17. Agreed here. I haven't seen Mantle/Vulkan and DX12 represented as a simple switch that will allow for higher framerate, but rather as a paradigm shift in game engine programming. It will be hard for some developers in that it requires a lot of consideration about how to really *do* things with the hardware, but a lot less testing on how things are magically done by some driver. If that does not result in better performance and/or more stable and predictable behaviour of code, it will not be worth the effort to switch to the new APIs.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDyujx0BZSg
  19. And 4th on GoG (plus a rather irrelevant 50th for the "Champions Edition") - with D:OS on 1st
  20. When one of the original punk rock bands goes psychedelic...
  21. I am a human, Meadow Folk mainly, with some Ocean Folk in my ancestry, Aedyran by birth, not by choice. I would be a wizard, probably with a focus on spells that create, or defend, rather than destruct. I'd invest in Arcane Veil. Also, I'd pick quite some talents that represent unarmed melee capabilities in case non-magical defense or destruction is needed after all. Might: 11 Constitution: 9 Dexterity: 13 Perception: 13 Intellect: 16 Resolve: 14 I would wear neither armour nor weapons. I'd be a Philosopher as my background, of the benevolent, rational, stoic and diplomatic kind. I would dislike deceptive, cruel and aggressive characters. Regarding race and culture: I've chosen this for the character of Me because of my physical appearance, and this culture because it best reflects the society I'm living in, however much I'm disagreeing with its politics and public opinion. So I selected Aedyran not because it represents me, but because it represents the culture around me. I'd judge many traits as "vices" the same way Glanfathans would, while traits that I'd count as "virtues" would be a very un-PoE-y selection from Vailian, Aedyran and Glanfathan "virtues" (as described in the guidebook). Regarding class: I chose wizard because it's closest to what I do in real life. Regarding stats: I started with 10 in each, spending additional 15 points, having +1 Resolve due to Aedyr. [edit]removed unneccesary thoughts about Stats^^ Regarding background: Dissident Philosopher Scientist - but, as I noticed thinking about the attributes Intellect and Resolve, both Scientist and Dissident are not my strong points currently, however much I'd like them to be. So I'm a Philosopher for now. Regarding disposition: While I do consider myself to be clever and honest and highly value these traits in others, due to a stupid disposition towards "diplomacy first" these traits would not show in game and only do with a select few people in real life, who have these traits themselves.
  22. Interesting, there seems to be a new way the videos are embedded. I don't see any of them, while my ad-blocker claims it blocked some google analytics and google+ content. Which is a shame (because I quite like some of the music posted here *sucking up to you guys* )
  23. That may be a source of problems, yes. This on the other hand is utter nonsense. Been playing the backer beta on a system with AMD processor and AMD graphics card, and it was no problem. People have played it on Intel integrated graphics, they've played it on ages old dual core laptops, so really, hardware that is comaparatively weak will *not* cause crahes. My full game is downloaded from GOG, the BEST digital content provider - why should this run any worse than the Steam version? If you think it through, the contrary could be the case, as there's no extra service running in the background... As for the OP's problem: Are you using the English version of the game? Maybe something is labeled wrongly in your language version and you actually click "Load Game" instead of "New Game". Other than that: The patch wouldn't hurt. If you really want the Steam version: As a "silver level" backer, you might have access to a second copy of the game. Check your backer account! You can redeem that second copy for Steam if you so choose.
  24. I see things almost the way the OP does. One exception: "I appreciate what you do in/with your games" - claiming to appreciate everything the company does would be a lie from my perspecive
