  1. I hate umber hulks.
  2. When I think of replay value, I typing think of two main things (there are obviously other stuff, but these are two of the things that immediately comes to my mind): 1-Different choices available when solving quests or speaking in dialogue that affect the game world. That's the number one thing that gives a game replayability for me. Branching quests that will alter events, whether in a small or big way, depending on your decisions is a huge factor in the replay value of a game for me. 2-Companions with deep backstories and with personal sidequests, and who also can alter how things play out in the main story depending on if they're in your party or not. If Obsidian can pull off the above two to some significant degree, I can foresee PE being a game I'll play multiple times.
  3. Or if they do take up space in your inventory, have them automatically be dropped/removed after they're used. That way a]you don't have to worry about needing that item again and b]it clears up space in your inventory when you've finished with it. Items that give me the most issue are gems. More often than not, they end up just being trinkets you can sell for gold. But there are the rare occasions when there are quests associated with them or when you're creating an item or having one created for you that requires X amount of a certain gem. So I end up hording gems because I never know when they'll end up being the latter case.
  4. A lot of people seem to like elf rangers. Duel scimatars as well?
  5. It will be interesting to see how CDPR handles a sandbox-type game.
  6. It's kind of a no-win situation for them, though. If they were more strict, the complaint would then be that they're power hungry and censor every little thing.
  7. I haven't read up on the races too closely, but in terms of starting class I'll likely pick one that's geared toward sword/shield type fighter character my first time through. I don't know why, but I always select this type of character as my first character. After that I'll try out the thief-type and magic-type characters, but not on my first run. *shrugs* I do like the sound of the cipher character, but that will probably be on my second or third play through.
  8. Quality. I'd take, for instance, 30 hours of quality over 60 hours of quantity. Or I'd take 8 deep, well written NPC companions over 16 shallow, cardboard cutout NPC companions with no personality. I can understand those voting for balanced, but why would anyone vote for quantity?
  9. I think 8 companions is a good number, especially if they're working on making them deep characters with backstory and, hopefully, sidequests associated with them. It gives players a variety of party configurations, while at the same time gives the developers a manageable amount in terms of fleshing each character out. Too many characters and you might run the risk of each being more shallow, sort of quantity over quality.
  10. I hadn't seen much information about this, even on their own forums, since the original announcement of the game. So I was wondering what was going on. Hopefully it's a good update, and not just a minor "yeah, we're still plugging away" note.
  11. In general, I just think that "good looking" people (this includes the male characters as well) are part and parcel of the fantasy genre. Movies, games, etc. all feature attractive heroes/heroines, because that's what people who play the games/watch the movies want to see. People want Snow White to look like Kristin Stewart, not Kathy Bates. So I don't really think there's anything wrong with a focus on making characters attractive. Where I think they could sprinkle in a bit of flavor is with the -- for lack of a better word -- comic relief characters. And I think this is where male characters are done better, and certainly more in abundance, than female characters. Anytime there's a character that's more about their charm, or personality, or quirkiness, it's usually a male character (and usually a beer-swilling, belching, perverted dwarf). I think that's the one area they (developers/television producers) could utilize for adding women who aren't necessarily attractive. Another area that could work is taking a formerly attractive female, but giving her some kind of disfiguring facial scar. Not just a minor scar that might even add charm to her features, but like a deep, red diagonal slash across her face that mars her looks. Which could also add to her backstory, since the PC would then be trying to get her to open up about how she got that scar. In general, though, I just think it makes sense to make the characters attractive (other than the above two exceptions) because that's what most folks expect out of fantasy. And, as I said, this relates to *both* male and female characters. I don't really think it's just a female issue.
  12. First off let me state this was the first Kickstarter I've followed, so I don't have a basis for comparison to how others have been done. With that being said, I thought Obsidian did a really good job. The communication with the fanbase was good, even to the point where if there were some questions/concerns, they got answered or clarified in a timely fashion. The stretch goals were ones that, as a whole, the fanbase seemed to want (ie. no fluff that didn't appeal to anyone). And I thought they were pretty frequent with their updates. I guess the only minor issue could have been them being a bit less vague with some of their original information, so that there wouldn't be a need to clarify later on. But in all honesty, I don't think it was much of an issue since they did end up clarify stuff in ample time for people to make an informed decision before the Kickstarter period was up.
  13. Older: Planescape: Torment Icewind Dale I & II Baldurs Gate I Newer: Alpha Protocol (gives you a good idea of C & C in Obsidian-made games) The Witcher 2
  14. Is The Guildmaster Darren Monahan, or is The Guildmaster just re-posting what Darren Monahan originally wrote? It's like the Cadbury caramel secret. I want to know!
  15. Not until after I get Avellone's high school RPG! I think I'd rather they made a Firefly RPG. Unless we get to play *as* Chris Avellone in the high school RPG. Then maybe it gets my vote.
  16. I decided to start a second play through with my commando in Borderlands 2. I'm finding that my weapons don't do any damage, but my turret is still mowing enemies down. Literally I'll just toss my turret down and it'll take out mobs of enemies without me having to fire a single bullet. Which comes in handy since, as I said, my weapons don't do much damage.
  17. I've been here from pretty much the beginning. It's nice to see such an influx of posters due to Project Eternity. Hopefully you all stick around for the long haul.
  18. Yeah, having the disposable cash to buy one of the reward tiers to make an NPC would have been kind of cool. Kind of cool for me, though. I don't know if the rest of you'd like the NPC I came up with.
  19. Once a month would be more than fine. I'd rather they spend the majority of their focus on making the game.
  20. There are some goodies in a couple of the higher tiers that I was tempted to get, but I kept asking myself, "Do I really need them?". In the end, I'm happy with the reward tier I pledged for.
  21. Admit it, OP. You just want to be able to turn God-mode on.
  22. Obsidian's next Kickstarter?
  23. I tend to play on easier difficulties my first time through, then play harder difficulties after. The main reason is on my first play through I play for the story, then after that I play for the challenge.
  24. I was disappointed with the book, to be honest. It had some interesting parts, but for the most part it seemed almost like Revan and the Exile were sacrificed, for lack of a better word, to hype up the new TOR MMO and set up those events, rather than actually conclude the Revan saga in a satisfactory way. Going in, I was excited to read it because it was supposed to answer all the questions about Revan after the games. Now that I've read it, I don't like the answer to those questions.
  25. I really should go to sleep. I read the thread title as "Black Badger" and was confused what the OP wrote had to do with a black badger.
