  1. This is probably the most optimized setup for late game. I had great fun some times ago with a Furyshaper/Beguiler with 1h pistol (modal + talent make it more optimal than dual pistol). Ton of speed buff and cc, good damage, and nice look (and mortars were used by my monk....)
  2. Hey! Thanks for all theses feedback, Sadly, i can't mix fire and corrode cause RP (i know, i'm strange, but i need to have a coherent lore behind a build to keep playing it, if not, i usually lost interest after port maje... no matter how strong the character is ), if the multi berat'h priest/bleak walker was available it could have worked. Yeah, i have some regret about this : -> Fury (+Pen) is useless for firebrand, and not enoug fire spell worth enough the lost of healing (come on, Berseker/Fury would be great fun !) -> No item grant firebrand (where are you gloves of the forgemaster!!!! ), But who knows for futur..."cough" COMMUNITY PATCH PLEASE! "cough"... ->Magran's priest summonned weapon.... why????? Not a bad idea at all, will have to try it ! True, have not phrased correctly, should have say "hit like a truck which is really good for all bersekers on kill effect : easier to secure killing blow" Could have been so nice to play a Berseker/Chanter wielding firebrand (from an item) while overlappping the songs (didn't rememeber the names): -> + fire lash on weapon -> + fire damage (which, sadly, is actually bad if i recall well) Edit : Is there a difference beeween the firebrand spell (druid) and the firebrand scroll ? First one get stronger with character lvl, did the 2nd one improve withe character lvl too or with arcana (far from home for some time so can't check ) ?
  3. I'm considering a playthrough with a setup like that : 4 or 5 different godlike, each with is own element that they can summon to fight - Fire : Fire Godlike - Berseker / Druid built around Firebrand and some druids fire spells. Berseker / Magran's priest can work but the summonned fire weapon is bad for martial multiclass (my opinion, would love someone prove me wrong). -> Rage and Fire go well together for RP. - Corrode / Death : Death Godlike - Devoted / Berath's Priest built around Summoned greatsword. Ghost Hearth / Berath's Priest or Soulblade / Berath's Priest can fit too. - Frost /Water : Vatnir - Rogue / Rymgrand's Priest built around Summoned axes, or Tekehu - Storm / Electricity / Wind : Moon Godlike - Hellwalker / Fury or Chanter (stormcaller if mod ) / Fury or Chanter (stormcaller if mod) / Hellwalker or Hellwalker / Wiz (spiritlance with electric lash) - Beast / Life : Earth Godlike - Lifegiver (or Ancient) / Eothas or Lifegiver / Paladin
  4. Hello, Wanted to start a new playthrough (PoTd - all upscaled) with a greatsword summoner. So far, two different build come to my mind and i could use some feedback from most experienced player. - Build 1 : Tempest (Berserker/Druid) : This girl is on fire... Concept : Fire Godlike (RP mostly, but battle forged armor buff is welcome) summoning fire greatsword (PL2 druid spell) and burning everything in his path. RP wise barbarian fit more than fighter (rage and fire ) The good : Great RP Huge base damage Can start figth with kitchen stove and magran's favor for a huge alpha strike Druid have some armor and regen spells for improving survivability in melee A chanter with +fire damage song is a great companion The bad : Fire immun ennemy are a pain Few druid spell are really usefull (melee oriented build, not caster) Question : Is druid the best choice ? can you craft enough firesword scroll and take another subclass (Magran's priest...) ? - Build 2 : Chaman (Berseker/Berath's priest) or Devoted/Berath'priest : Death is coming... Concept : Deah Godlike summoning corrode greatsword (PL2 priest spell) and ending everything in his path The good : Great RP Good base damage Amazing buff from priest side The bad : Corrode immun ennemy are a pain No external bonus to corrode damage (like the fire song from a chanter) No other weapon deal corrode damage at range for alpha strike Question : Can't decide between berseker and devoted... i tend for the 2nd cause clear out and +pen for no real downside., but with great base damage the barbarian buff on kill is quite nice. Advice ?
  5. 5 ciphers/troubadour Start fight -> 5 skeleton's invocation (15 news dead body make ennemys really busy) + "Come wind of death" (suck their life out) -> Cipher's CC + recall agony + 5 mindblade/disintegrate = lot of corpses It make a strong from beginning, not micro heavy, evil party with heavy RP around death and decay.
  6. That's not a bad idea at all <3, will do this for my next run ! will just change the class too : - Moon Godlike : Hellwalker/Blood mage with Fist + invocation weapon - Death Godlike : Bleakwalker/Soulblade with WoTEp - Firegodlike : Berseker/Magran Priest with magran's favor and the fire/ice flail - Nature Godlike : Ancient druid / troubadour
  7. Just wondering what was the class combinations (SC or MC) you had the most enjoyed through the game ? Not necessary the strongest or broken ones, just the ones you were the most excited to play. For me it was probably the MC : "ancient druid / blood mage" using only DOT and Decay spells. Skaen priest/assassin focusing on backstab was very fun too.
  8. Nota : This multiclass need a mod for allowing MC to pick NPC subclass (chanter tekehu's one for this build) Was wondering how viable this multiclass will be in POTD. Don't have a lot of time to test it but in paper it should not be that bad : - weapon : Lord darrin voulge (+3 PL elec) - armor : the +2 PL elec one (forget the name, sorry) - race : nature godlike for +1Pl (and RP : nature godlike fit for a Stormgod -> +6 base elec PL without pot Chanter provide 3 renewable elec spell : - Chain lighting (Pl6) - Lightning (Pl3) - Thrice was she wronged (Pl1) Fury provide + 1pen elec (talent) and another +1 (or +2?) pen on druid's elementals spells. Maybe not as damaging as the hellwalker/fury version but should still be great no? CON : no heal (except chanters but we are not using them), so pure damage dealer : Will it stay good along the game or will it fade quickly ? any suggestion?
  9. Ranged Furyshaper / beguiler is a great debuffer - furyshaper give you speed + damage boost for focus + team buff/cc with ward - beguiler give you lot of cc/debuff with great synergy with fear ward at litlle cost (regain a part of your focus, sometime way more)
  10. If you hesitate, go herald, it's very solid from start to end and not too micro intensive with basic ai. If you keep aloth it will also complete your team better than crusader.
  11. I wouldn't worry too much about great or bad choice, this game have great replayability and is very forgiving (i found) so you can experiment freely. I usually ask myself : "how did i see this companion ? " ex for pallegina : - As a swordmaster living by her blade : crusader (offtank) - As an anchor in battle for my party leading the way with her strong voice : herald (main tank) For me a good RP build >>>> an overpowered min/max build. This game is not that difficult when you are used to rpg.
  12. Pallegina as an herald is a great tank/support. She won't kill fast but she will be hard to kill while providing great buff/debuff. The crusader version is more about dealing damage quickly while remaining sturdy (less than the herald tough). For your team, i would swap Aloth for Tekehu (depend of the RP you want, you already have a mage). You can multiclass him chanter/druid or keep him pure druid and you will have a great CC/damage/heal companion. Then i would pick pallegina as a crusader for the flavor. You will have : - great melee (damage and tanking) with Eder and Pallegina - great magic damage with your MC and Tekehu - great support/heal with Xoti and Tekehu - great CC with all. Quite a balanced team.
  13. spell casting + assassinate is great yes, but from an RP view it doesn't fit necessary well (each is personnal pref on this ). And honestly if you are playing in a team, even on POTD all upscalled, a few high-damage weapon hits can be enough to make all the difference. If you want an assassin/spellcaster , just pick an evoker over a skaen priest.
  14. For a skaen/assassin, boerer and guildwritter (and others) have given a lot of good advice on this build, i think it's worth reading : https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/106856-looking-for-build-advice-assassinskaen-priest/ This multi is really fun, lot of different playstyle. If you are playing in a team, i would encourage you to test tactician/assassin, it's like skaen assassin but more weapon oriented (no spells) and great vs pack too. With a cipher and Tekehu in the group, mass flank is easy to trigger. Equip your tank with squid grasp (Eder dualing it with a spear is great) and have fun with never ending guile right from the start of the game. it give you more weapon AOE and punch than skaen/assassin and penetrating strike is great form stealth. Weapon 1 : Wotep (early game) for Run Through and AOE, spread affliction in AOE, and some fun with ClearOut (mid game). Weapon 2 : Amra (early) /Oathbreaker(mid-late game)/Engoliero de Espir(late game) for huge backstab + DOT + AoE on kill Weapon 3 : Kitchen stove for hilarious thunderous report from stealth on the melee pack. Armor : Fleshmender for +1 weapon set without talent and more healt regen + bonus armor. With brilliant inspiration, DoC can go to your tank. My favorite trick with the assassin/XX is to make ennemy regroup from stealh (firecrakers are great for this) and engage with Kitchen stove for mass ToxicSpray or thunderous report. Go invi, swap to 2h, let yours tank aggro the melee and start spreading havoc in the backline. With a tactician multi, you can keep brilliant inspiration most of the time and dispatch ennemy more quickly than the skaenite multi.
  15. Witch : Nature godlike - Ascendant/furyshapper - dual pistol. Put your totem, launch frenzy (and trigger nature godlike passive) then unleash hell. You fire bullet and spells like a machine gun. Quite fun. Mindstalker : Trickster/Beguiler with dual handmortar for an (nearly) unkillable CC/DOT machine.
  16. I'll try. It looks tricky indeed... Edit:I did it! Took a few tries and it's quite inevitable to aggro the ogre standing on the corner, but if you run to the cages in the south west corner of the map he doesn't follow you. Doing so let the slavers on the ground floor stay neutral. Thanks again for the tip! I managed to still Willbreaker without the boots with only sparckcrakers (6-7) and 8 in furtivity without aggroing anyone. Close, but doable.
  17. I'm actually trying a 2h tactician/assassin in a party and it's a lot of fun! Neverending ressource with brilliant is easy to trigger allowing a lot of flexibility for burst damage/cc/dot/inspiration/invisibility/mobility.... You have it all! I found it a lot easier than my previous skaen/assassin or pure assassin run. Just bring a cipher for phantom foe
  18. If you want to be a frontliner, I would probably pick trickster or soulblade : Trickster : lot of sellbuff increasing your deviation. Good for riposte (you have one riposte from rogue talent, one from a 2handed blade you can get very early), kind of offset the low speed of 2h. Soulblade (or another cipher) : versatility : charm, buff, cc, damage. Give you a (great) bit of everything. If you don't neccessary want to be a frontliner , i would suggest assassin and creating havoc in their backline with 2h backstab. Bring a cipher for casting brillance on you and have fun!
  19. Cipher/barbarian seconded. Ascendant (or Beguiler) / Furyshaper. Play it ranged, pistol early/mid, dual handmortar late game for AoE when you unlock Heart of fury (jump in an pack and see you graphic card burn). Ton of buff/debuff, you shoot like a machinegun (speed boost from frenzy + frenzy ward stack, not additive tough) Playing with pistols in deadfire also open some heavy RP, and it look good (and few build use them effectively)
  20. Druids have so much possibility for rp : - Caster connected to the world calling the power of elements in battle : Fury - Inside beast calling for blood : Shifter - Protector of life : Lifegiver - Guardian of forest, calling beast and plant to war : Ancien (-> sadly, summoning is underwhelming) - Rotten soul hanting swamp and draining life from animals and travelers : ? (class with +PL corrode / + accuracy vs sickened/weakened , can't cast heal) - etc...
  21. For debuff, a rogue (trickster) / cipher (beguiler) can be nice. It has survivability for triple crown and can spread mass debuff in aoe with the right weapon (AoE blunderbuss, rod blast, and some unique bow). For 1v1, a ranger/bleakwalker is really effective right from the start if you want a ranged option (and easy to set up ia). A pure monk can be quite devastating for a melee option.
  22. You are right. I may have been a bit overdramatic on Pro/Con ^^ (still, except in boss fights were you have to be very carefull with it, i rarelly feel the -5 PL of lifegiver malus, most threat are done or undercontrol when it expire. It can still be a huge con that i forgotted, mea culpa ^^ ). Druid DoT spell are amazing even without the +1PL from ancien (so every scrap of PL is very welcome). Question : Does hellwalker bonus (+10 might/int) better than + 3PL on those DoT spell?. The way i see it, going hellwalker/ancien, from a DoT (damage) / HoT (heal) aspect, seem better than pure ancien. -> you lost PL8 spell (i don't found them that great. not bad either, just nothing exceptionnal) -> you lost PL9 spells (pollen patch is a big loss, tempest can be crafted with scroll) -> you gain spell more slowly -> you get really squishy (you still have beetle shell, or BDD if a priest is in the party) -> you get huge bonus to DoT and HoT -> you get monk bonus (blade turning at max int is fun, + all the others) -> flagellant path with the skull of decay weapon can be fun.
  23. Issue is : summoned creature (who are keyworded as Beast or Plant) are trash (in highter difficulty). Longer duration don't bring anything usefull to the table (i'm a bit hard, sporeling have good health, so they can serve quite well as meat shield early). Actual wildgrowth on trash invoc don't turn them in good invoc, so it's not an actual impacting bonus. If you compare lifegiver and ancien, the con of lifegiver are non-existent (trash invoc) and the bonus are non-negligeable (+2 to +7 Pl on rejuvenation spell Oo), while the con of ancien are a bit hard for the bonus. Plague spell (keyworded as beast) are... beastly, totally agree.
  24. With the difference that hight lvl chanter summon are still usefull. Dragon have some damaging ability in AoE and swords are a bit differents than normal invoc (if i remember right) giving them some punch. I remember a post with a screen comparing dragon (100-150 damage in aoe) and aspect of galawain (20-30 on single target)... But yeah, summoner's build are underwhelming, except if you build around cheese, like the grave calling build (summon imp while killing low skeletton) or spark the soul (priest spell) with mass invocation. It's fun the first hour, but get tedious after. Another way to up ancien druid can be boosting the wildgrowth spell giving not only robust but +damage/pen/healt too. Can be easier to patch and will give ancien a nice touch. Edit : a (big) boost of wildgrowth may be the best thing to do, it will cost you (need to cast the spell so : spellslot + cast time + recovery), but if it give +%healt, +%damage, +pen, scalling with Pl (you can even change the robust inspiration by a raw damage DOT on the invoc -> you turbocharge it, damaging it while it stand, so it can fit RP), it may be worth it going for a summoner build with ancien.
  25. +2 can be an idea, but it won't fix the major issue of ancien druid : invocation of monster (beast or plant) don't scale with PL (except duration). You can already acces very early to a +2 (or +3) Pl Beat/Plant PL weapon, so more Pl (even if it's always good) is not the priority fix for me. What i would love for druids : -> Make invocation (healt/damage/resistance/Pen) scale with PL (not their armor). -> Give the druid a PL 8-9 corrode spell (like the PL9 wizard) -> add more +PL corrode gear (only one in the game...). This won't break the game or make the druid op, just make summons build enjoyable.
