  1. Yeeeey I got my box today! So happy! Cheers Obsidian!
  2. Oh no you DIDN'T! On a serious note, I do not have low standards, I feel the overall voice acting of this game is mediocre, but I'm kinda hard on voice acting, if it's not done well, I'd rather not have it. I'd say my standard for voice acting is too high as I cringe and loathe sub par voice acting... I don't mind reading though, and as some ppl said, a fully voiced game often makes for less content (lol if BG had been fully voice acted) If you wanna do it, knock yourself out, but don't, please don't say things like this, it's not gonna end well (Internet people take offense easy these days ^^)
  3. If you like story telling, then playing bg1 first is the correct choice since the story of the sequel directly continues that of the first. If you don't give a shait (Don't get why you' play em then but ok ) most people find the second game to be the best. Both games are quite different than PoE in both gameplay, story and style. Same genre not the same games. My personal favorite is the original BG, the mood and the setting just does it perfectly for me, and the main villain is my favorite. For the EE version vs the original moded version, it depends on how much extra work you want to do, and if you have a tablet and want to play it on said tablet. EE has tablet support (I believe) and you don't have to hazzle with all the mods, the original can be a very slow game to run unless you mod it correctly, the old engine doesn't run well with modern PCs.
  4. Well, some PotD runs might be a second run, where you've done the NPC quests/dialogues already. Pure achievement run maybe? Easier to do trial of iron runs with optimized NPCs instead of the premades. Solo run is also an achievement.
  5. Off, anything to add to replayability and not take me out of the game with meta thinking.
  6. Please no. Half the VA dialogues annoy me more than they do without the VA. Mostly because the Voice actor doesn't seem to read the non spoken text, so things like sighs, coughing and tone of voice directly goes against what's written. If a person is supposed to be scared, angry or whatever it's VERY important that the VA does that, and even more so when it's written for the player to see. It takes a lot of time and effort to fully VA a game, so if someone want's to mod it please do, just please don't ask the devs to focus on it ^^
  7. I REALLY hope that he devs take a look at what you've written here! It's important to note that most of the "haters"/"critics" here do agree with you on the game being good, and we do like it. If you hate something it's hard to summon enough passion to write dozens of posts/topics on how to make it even better, you'd just throw it away. I for one agree with your arguments, I might have different opinions on what's more important, but I agree with 99 % of the words you've chosen I believe. For the Xp I believe it may have ended up this way because of wanting it to be similar to IWD, which is very much a kill everything in sight and get XP for it type of series. And it does feel more like an IWD successor for me than a BG one, mostly because of where the focus is. Also agree on your "look at Deus Ex for inspiration" statement, it did it's quest/xp system very VERY well. Only thing I can't say if I agree or disagree on is the stats system, haven't given it enough thought yet as it doesn't seem to matter that much on Hard.
  8. I'd get behind this idea in some form, I did feel the amount of XP needed was a larger problem than the amount of XP gained when just looking at numbers.
  9. Have to admit, I even forgot there was a party AI in BG... Can't say I eve used it so for me there isn't any transition, and if your chars was confused or charmed in BG and hit one of your teammates you had to make sure your party didn't make him/her a pincushion! I can't really see why people want an party AI in these games though, easy fights are right-click only anyway, and do you really want your NPCs to do stuff "on their own" in harder fights?
  10. Hmm, haven't used Kana much, though I don't really read much on new spells and abilities anymore either no need... Common fight for me in the mid-later part of the game is something like this. 1. Walking from A to B while chatting on Steam 2. ATTACKED BY ASSASINS YOU SAY! Time to... 3. Right-click enemies -> continue chatting on steam 4. Loot the bodies to get even more filthy rich 20 secs later And I rarely mind getting to this point of POWER! in games, it's just happening a bit too fast/easy here. Waiting for a fight to be so hard I have to sit down and read all the new spells... (This might all be my own fault though for not playing on PotD and doing AAAALL the side quests)
  11. Yeah, I ended up in the staircase as well, and then I swung Aloth around midfight for 3 Fans, which DEMOLISHED everything. Also, to position yourself according to the environment is real life strategy 101, I wouldn't really call it gamey, because if you COULD win it out in the open then the game would be to easy, you're not supposed to sweep a fight when surrounded by competent enemies.
  12. If you're up against harder packs, what I normally do is: 1. Equip ranged weapons on everything, the slower/heavy hitting the better. One volley kills at least one enemy. 2. Find a choke point, there is almost always one around, back up if you need to, choke points makes all the difference. 3. AOE debuffs, stack em up after the enemies have engaged said choke point, followed by maybe AOE dmg. 4. Don't be afraid of over healing, and using healing over time effects early in the fight 5. Guns are insane if used with the right talents/abilites It's kinda hard to know what you would need advice about tbh, since I don't know what you mean by "advanced" stuff, so far I've gotten through everything on hard following these simple steps.
  13. But you don't really need a high Con for main tanks either. I think that's what has the OP asking, because people are stating that even on the main tank in the group a high con is kinda useless.
  14. Xaurip Skirmishers will paralyze your char with every successful hit. They do? Huh never noticed, kinda just right clicked them and they died.
  15. Huh, this sounds weird... Can't remember any problems with these guys myself. Can you see the combat calculations? (If you mouse over the attack and dmg roll in the chat window it should tell you what exactly is happening)
  16. Make that all companions (NPC ones included) and I'm all aboard. As long as I'll have to get a hold of a ___keeper tool to make cosmetic changes to my NPC companions, I'd see no point in doing it half-assed with just PC companions. The perks of those joinable NPCs are that they have stories, dialogues, and interjections of their own; even their description the first time the player had met them are fixated. Hired Adventurers don't, therefore changing their voice-sets and portraits won't impact immersion as much as predefined joinable NPCs. I'd still keep it similar to BG multiplayer mode. If it is more in-depth changes such as stats, abilities, and such even after hiring/joining that you're advocating, then those are beyond my original suggestion. Depends on personal preferences, though. That would make the stronghold resting bonus too OP and turn the other inns around the world obsolete, can't say I agree with this change completely. Some extra buffs to the resting bonus would be welcome though. The B*tch Queen's Envoy from Icewind Dale still echoes in my head to this day... Can't say PoE unique items have done the same. Perhaps something can be done with Magren the Wh*re Goddess, lol I somewhat like how they disallowed pre-buffing, it discourages meta-gaming (still possible, but even less so) as well as forcing the players to make efficient decisions through battles. I like these suggestions, too many pets, not enough slots! Yea, I think it was mentioned somewhere but the highlighting can be similar to the Diablo series. I agree with your agreements and agree with your disagreements. And a couple of more interesting items would be nice, but I believe that is also a problem introduced with the whole enchanting mechanic anyhow, making most of the items bland since you can almost reproduce them anyhow. Unless an item has unique features it's crap, which makes me sad, and how the hell do someone who knows nothing about enchanting IMPROVE a magical ancient artifact by crushing some gems and adding a dragons eye to it, with no equipment in the middle of the jungle!
  17. Aaah i see, it actually makes sense. Once you get good at killing wolves, you essentially become a master wolf hunter and no longer gain experience? Very clever. But what about enemy human soldiers? Are they classified under bestiary? No xp for killing humans.
  18. I can't see how giving a good game 8/10 is a bad thing... PoE is NOT perfect, it HAS flaws, and ignoring them will not bring us better games in the future. This is the problem of "scores" when the mentality is "I like it: 10/10" becomes the norm. a 10/10 should be near impossible to get to 9/10 is AMAZING 8/10 is a GREAT game! If we don't use the whole spectrum, what's the point of having it there? For the OPs point of getting angry when DA:I a 9 together with D.OS, I get it, I really do, but mostly because I feel those two games got over hyped a lot.
  19. 2 hander and no armour and going as a tank? I don't like to minimize any stat personally so for me a 3 stat would never happen. But for my 2h paladin frontliner/tank having 10 con seems to be more than enough. The constant healing makes it so that I only need enough Endurance to survive until it's healed, and resistances can always be buffed in combat, or with a ring. Constitution doesn't seem to give you something valuable in the current game I think, having some is kinda needed (maybe) but even for a full on tank 10 is all you'll ever need. If you take it down to 3 (for some reason) you have got to keep your defect up I would think, so that when you get hit it's 99 % grazes. 2H and no armour AND noting in Con just seems a bit silly if you want to tank imo.
  20. Yeah, might be some interaction with the game and your PC, because I've got a way worse PC than you and I don't have these framedrops in battles, I used to have them while playing BG and IWD though. Could be your PC is too good m8 ^^
  21. Not to play it like BG indeed! the engage system, the "sticky" (for me at least) targeting on characters, be sure that you've actually made you order clear to the NPC that she's supposed to go there. Don't open up with a spell in my opinion, it will sometimes make the enemies "hard-aggro" on said character, move in the fighter first. I'd say just try to forget your "mechanics" from Bg and just try to find your own pace. It's similar, but oh so different.
  22. Do you know if playing on hard actually spawns new "packs" some places as well as adding more mobs? I have no idea myself as I'm at the point where I just right click the trash mobs, just another day at work mentality I guess.
