  1. This is one of the more disturbing things I have heard lately, although Hades' comment was amusing.
  2. That one guy was an utter bastard. Probably employing displacement, to use a psychological term. Good luck with your endeavors and great job on the site thus far.
  3. Im more in line with julianw here. I intentionally create barriers of cars and then go on shooting rampages, usually to find money on gangbangers or hookers. And who said they do nothing for society? When the police show up, I either snipe them or beat them to death. The more blood there is, the better in general. Then again I enjoy standoffs with the police, army, etc in those games. In general, though, I almost never have a problem with evil acts, excepting those rare occasions when I feel a connection to a character, then it is possible depending upon whether I liked them. I roleplay the character as I imagine them. And if that involves indiscriminate massacres, so be it. I suppose I either dont have much sympathy for pixels or that I have a rather morbid sense of humor. For instance, I laughed when Mission and Zaalbar killed each other. One of the more amusing moments of that game. Frankly, I find the moralizing in most games annoying, especially in such situations as K2 where your party members were evil as well. Games are about freedom, yet still you are almost always the proverbial good guy.
  4. Any good? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed. Goes back to the roots of Sands of Time, moreso than Warrior Within. The Dark Prince is basically the same mechanic as the Sand Wraith, except you dont constantly get sand refilled. The addition of speed kills to get by enemies quickly by approaching them stealthily or from odd angles and then completing a button sequence helps alot for those of us who didnt really like the combat. I just started so Im not to far in, but the story seems good as well.
  5. Anachronox, Civ IV, RE4 (GC), PoP: TT (Xbox), and trying to get my hands on Shadow Hearts and Covenant.
  6. By creating the world with limitations, God limited the possible responses, thereby breaking the idea of 'free will.' After all, if he is omnipotent, to truly have free will, wouldnt everyone else need to be so as well? Then you understand our feelings. well, i don't think God's ways are mysterious. lol. i don't think God is wrong at all. i have said a few times before that God is the definition of "good" since He invented it and "sin" is all that is apart from Him. I believe that there is an absolute truth and that people interact with it on a subjective level. and when people agree on certain things and verify them over and over again then it is just as good as truth: i.e. the force of gravity. we don't know exactly what it is, but it seemingly happens to all of us, so we just accept it as a truth. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Blank, you are perhaps one of the most arrogant deists I have ever met. You basically say "I can understand God, and have thus decided he is right. If you dont agree with me, you are wrong because I am right." It is a circular argument seemingly designed solely to prop up your ego: I am better than them because I have independently determined myself to be smarter and thus know what is right for them, therefore let me show them the "true path." How are you any better than the colonial Europeans who felt the need to teach the Africans through slavery, oppression, and murder? If you truly followed Christianity, instead of the limited portions which appeal to your engrossed ego, you would not need to proselytize and would accept that everyone has their own journey to make. A true believer needs no one to constantly tell him he is right and good. To enforce your beliefs on others is merely to convince yourself of your virtue and superiority to the non-believers. After all, if they accept it, then it means something in there must make sense. It obviously has nothing to do with the threats of physical violence and eternal damnation. No, nothing at all.
  7. Another possible bonus to the dream sequence idea, which I support. The unknown nature and content of the dream may provide an impetus for the MC to travel. Perhaps he visits dream interpreters or some such on his home planet, or elsewhere. Which brings me to another point. Please actually give the character some concrete origin this time around, instead of he's the defeated supreme bad guy with amnesia or a random fallen soldier with a force disease. The character should not just be dropped into the world completely blank of connection other than that applying directly to the main narrative. This is not to say that he/she has to be important or powerful, merely that no one is completely without backstory. It doesnt even have to be a major thing. Maybe have him/her start out on the home planet and interact with family and friends and such, just to give the character a base in the universe. You can make the character who you want it to be, but no one has complete freedom over their own history. Now, getting back to the dream interpreters, it might be a nice way to introduce non-Jedi/Sith force traditions as well, expanding the setting significantly and even if to a slight degree making the Jedi less godlike as they are not alone in their power.
  8. I came to gaming fairly late in the PS lifecycle, so I havent played the majority of the classics, but Id recommend Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Arguably best Castlevania ever), the FFs, Chrono Trigger/Cross, the Lunar games, and some others I will invariably think of later.
  9. Youve mentioned this several times, so Im assuming you want someone to ask about it. As such, care to share which one?
  10. Depending upon your tastes, you might like Advent Rising. The fanbase seems to be divided among those who love it and those who hate it. Frankly, I believe the majority have not given the game an adequate chance and the professional reviews are obviously flawed and narrow-minded. Another game I picked up recently is Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Im only about 25% of the way in, but so far the game is excellent. Control can be a little awkward at times, but the story is great as is the ambience. Otherwise, I agree with previous suggestions.
  11. It certainly seemed inordinately fake to my eyes, considering his lack of bulges in other incognito scenes.
  12. I felt the actor in the trailer appeared distractingly young in comparison to the supposed timeline and events in the movie. Also, did anyone else notice the body suit he was wearing in a few scenes to give him muscles?
  13. Id suggest that its a combined marketing/technological issue. As SP repeatedly states, space is becoming a premium with all the new graphical "must-haves." Also, as Hurlshot fumblingly suggests, the unfortunate reality is that the majority of gamers will rush out to buy that new hit game, play it once, twice if they really like it, then never touch it again. If it were too long, they'd lose interest, and how would they then be attracted to the inevitable sequels? Economics comes into play, as by gearing games towards the average fan, developers/publishers can achieve the highest profit margins with the smallest amount of investment of time and capital. As much as I would like it to be so, long games seem to be the province of small niche development houses. Yeah, Im sorry, but I just have to ask: How did you manage to stretch JE out that far? It does not even seem possible to me. The QA guys could beat it in under 2 hours and I beat in my first play through, without missing anything, under 7. So,
  14. An organized physical activity marked by specific rules and outcomes, usually restricted to competitive contests.
  15. You're a Nazi?!
  16. I have done this before. Why do you continue to date this person? Hilarious.
  17. If those statues are anything to go by it's the Satyr women who are pleased Although they have a thing for human women. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are no female satyrs. Males are satyrs, females are nymphs. Thats somewhat of a fallacy. Jesus was a devout jew his entire life. He never suggested nor would have supported a new religion, simply addition and revision to current holy doctrine. All else is the result of his follower's actions. ____________________ Also it just so happens Chanukkah begins on Dec 25 this year, so I get presents until the night of the 2nd. :D "
  18. I visit tv.com occasionally to check up on episodes that I missed and such. Recently I noticed an article mentioning the WB has ordered a pilot of an Aquaman show. It will use a different actor from that in the Smallville episode.
  19. Crabs arent beautiful. A single crab shown in close up detail with high resolution and color may be beautiful, but a large number are not. They are simply obnoxious and tasty. Thanks for the three moon partial eclipse, though. I have it set as my new background.
  20. At the moment, of those two, Id choose the X360, solely for the number of RPGs I know are being developed for it. Especially as it seems to have increased JRPG support this generation. I even read on gamespot early today that Squenix is considering bringing the next generations of FF (not XI only) and DQ to both PS3 and X360. However, I am also quite looking forward to the Rev.
  21. Science does not follow the same restriction as a Western court of law. A theory is false, or at least unsubstantiated, until a large amount of empirical evidence suggests its validity. Even then, future knowledge and discoveries might render it obsolete, if not entirely wrong. The nature of science is to grow and question. If it did not, then humanity would be stuck at our current stage of development indefinitely. Religion served its purpose, and it can be useful as a moral compass in some situations (if it interpreted figuratively in terms of modern times) but to ascribe solely to its philosophy is to invite destruction. Unless progress is made, everything naturally degrades.
  22. Your Type is INTJ Introverted Intuitive Thinking Judging Strength of the preferences % 67 38 62 11 You are: distinctively expressed introvert moderately expressed intuitive personality distinctively expressed thinking personality slightly expressed judging personality Risk: As far as I can tell, the Risk test leads you to a description and not the actual test. At the bottom of the screen there is a link reading "Go to the Test" however you are then asked to pay $4 worth of "tokens" for the right to take it.
  23. I hear its Eberron based, but still no.
  24. Agreed. But then again, I often find ancticipation and imagination to be more engrossing than the actual product.
  25. This is my main problem with evangelists. I have no problem with religion or belief of any humane sort, in a vacuum. However, as we all know, nothing occurs in a vacuum. Thus, we must take into consideration other factors. It seems to me that evangelists have no actual desire to convert others, but instead make the effort to validate their own beliefs and basic goodness. It is for this reason that when (I will use Christians as an example, only because they are most numerous) a Christian comes up to a person and says "Repent or, I'm sorry, but you'll have to burn in hell," that others get angry. If you object, well, hey, they're just trying to save your soul. Isnt that a good thing? Arent they helping you by displaying the TRUE path in neon lights? It is this assumed moral superiority that infuriates me. And then when you complain or try to present an equally valid opinion, somehow you are oppressing their rights by not respecting their choice to their beliefs. Do we not have the right to our own, without harassment or the threat of eternal damnation? When has a Jew, Buddhist, Confucianist, Wiccan, Neopagan, etc. ever come up to you and said, "Um, yeah, sorry guy, but," *sucking of teeth* "if you dont convert, you'll spend the entire span of universal existence being tortured because you dont agree with me." Should not the courtesy extend both ways? I do not blame Christianity, or any religion, for the actions of its people, though some do seem deeply rooted in the religious texts of those faiths, as misinterpreted or stretched as they may be. It is as Mothman has said, humanity's fault. Yet is it not then also within humanity's power to fix what they have broken? Why should it be accepted just because it is the way it is now? Huh. I was just thinking about this earlier today in relation to the Buddhist concept of termas.
