  1. I agree with every single point. Movies I Like that Everyone Else Hates: Evolution Super Mario Brothers Hollow Man Dog Soldiers The Core The Relic Movies I Dislike that Everyone Else Loves: Spider-Man 2 Terminator Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (Worst among bad movies)
  2. I'll take a turn later, but I wont be home for a few hours, so if someone else wants to jump in during that time, feel free.
  3. I cant exactly tell you what to create, but I can tell you what Im working on at the moment. Story Idea #1: A schizophrenic who fights demons (dimensional travelers). Is it all in his head? Story Idea #2: Approx. 50-75 years in future. A child goes blind due to experimental vaccine for global pandemic caused by escaped lab stock, and his father invents a neural interface for the boy so as to allow him to see through an external prosthesis. The prosthesis development is cut short due to government science projects, but the interface is completed. Boy grows up to be journalist, specializing in government/military coverups. While skulking around a military base, he is captured and his interface discovered through interrogation and medical screenings. The leaders decide to commandeer him for use in a bipedal exoskeleton project. The exoskeleton (for which I have as yet been unable to come up with a fitting acronym) is controlled by a new phase AI called an AS (Artificial Sentience), able to reprogram its operating systems and processes at will to increase performance and respond to new stimuli. To summarize the rest (as this is too long already), the exoskeleton and the pilot form an intelligence loop, allowing the robotic armor access to his genetic information. Thus endowed, the exoskeleton overhauls its systems based upon biological evolution/example. Eventually, it decides it can advance no further and that any remaining deficiencies lie in the pilot. So it begins to rewrite his code...
  4. My family is less than technically inclined. My mother even requires help to check her email! I doubt they could handle the change.
  5. Pretty good, pretty good. I dont come here as often anymore due to school scheduling and such, but I just built a new rig and finally got VtM:Bloodlines to play. All things considered Im dandy. P.S. Windows Me is the devil (My old family computer runs it)
  6. *Gasp* The game is reborn?! Also, welcome back, Meta.
  7. Oddly amusing.
  8. Ive been trying to get my hands on a fan-translation of the novels the game is based on, but so far no luck. There is no official English version, though the premise seems fairly interesting, despite its use of the elves and dwarves.
  9. If I remember correctly, you are referring to Tchuukthai, or whatever the hell his name is. I have SW fanatic friends, so this is the result of that rather than any personal interest. I also seem to recall something from the SW pnp books about celegians being powerfully telepathic/telekinetic, so they probably just used their minds to control the lightsabers. I think there was a force power to that effect as well.
  10. From what I recall, PNJ is not an original IP, but an original take on an existing IP. As for dev presence, I would have interest in the future of a project on which I worked. Its only natural.
  11. Are you honestly old enough to be married? I hadnt thought so.
  12. Id recommend you rent Halo 2. It isnt long enough to be worth a purchase. As for Fable, I suggest you burn the memory of that name from your mind and never speak of it again.
  13. Good luck with that. Ive heard the return policies are a bitch.
  14. My personal philosophy can be condensed to the following triptych: Man created God, Man became God, God destroyed Man.
  15. I guess what I really mean is a program that can create landmasses based on the outlines of a particular object. To give an example, say I had a picture of a cat, the program would create a landmass that looked like a cat in shape. A bonus would be if it could create topographic features based on the object's contours, but I really dont expect that.
  16. I am in need of a program whereby to create maps, preferably based on existing images (not necessarily maps) I designate. I remember reading somewhere on here that one of us has an interest in cartography? Does anyone have some suggestions.
  17. Since this is a hypothetical, I selected the first option. Id like to think Im that morally upright. However, I have this fear of death so in reality, I am unsure. Would probably depend on the degree of the trangression and its consequences.
  18. I was once helping this guy I knew test a system he was developing and he came up with something that might fit your needs. He had a basic and advanced system: the basic was pretty much the standard rounds, but the advanced divided time into what he called Impulses (IP), each representing 250 ms, the amount of time necessary for the human brain to perceive information, make a decision, and respond. Each type of action was assigned a certain cost in IP. So, if, for example, a skill cost 40 IP, it would take ten seconds to complete. However, the faster the character, the fewer IP he would need to perform that action due to increased reactoin time. The really interesting thing is that other characters are acting simultaneously. Whenever the amount of time necessary to do their decided action passes, they also act. And yet, characters (or enemies) can react to their opponent's moves and change their actions for a small IP cost, as they refocus themselves. If two characters actions finished on the same IP, then the faster character (as determined by initiative which in his system was a derivative of Agility and Perception) would act first. If you would like more information, I have it in .pdf form. However, he is Dutch, so his English, while understandable, is not the greatest.
  19. I really dont understand my parents thinking this holiday. For years, they have been rather reasonable in their gifts, a few games or a few hundred dollars etc despite our financial prosperity. And now when they often tell us how it hasnt been a good year, I get a computer and my sister gets a Mini Cooper S. Someone explain this to me.
  20. I consider my personal faith to be somewhat of a mixture of Reform Judaism and Reconstructionist Judaism, which basically means I can accept or ignore any tenets I choose. In effect, this means I am agnostic and celebrate Channukah. :D Anyway, though the details are still being worked out, I have arranged with my parents to receive some sort of computer for which we will share payment. Ive given them a list of parts and I will then build myself. So far, my list includes the following, though it will most likely change to some degree: COOLER MASTER Praetorian 730 Silver (What can I say? I like silver.) Antec 550 Truepower PSU AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert G. Skill Extreme Series DDR500 2gb (1x2) EVGA Geforce 7800GT (470/1100) WD Caviar 320GB NEC Silver ND-3550A Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic For a total of about $1400. Havent decided on a monitor yet, so if anyone has any suggestions, Im open to them. Oh, Im also getting one PS2 game.
  21. While it definitely has its detractors, I find myself to be at least somewhat appreciative of the new Incarnum system.
  22. It is Nostradamus reborn! Beware, for the apocalypse is nigh. Note, the supposed seer known as Nostradamus has been called "100% accurate at predicting events after they happen," i.e. his followers twist his words to support any recent major catastrophe. Draw your own conclusions from this comparison.
  23. A little English colloquialism assistance: Come to think of it...
