As I understand it, the cabdriver is supposed to be Caine. And I would agree with the Jack-Caine alliance, thus I viewed the emails as a collaboration, citing the last email (in accordance with) CoF as proof. Anyway, my favorite run had to be an Assamite Vizier (using the clan mod). Thaumaturgy + Celerity = Awesome. The only difficulty is that the game doesn't read you as Tremere anymore (the Vizier clan is an overlay of the Tremere code) and so you don't get the specific relic or the Tremere haven. Both easily fixed with a few codes, if you are persuaded that way.

Hmm, I would imagine that knife to be difficult to use. The various protrusions would throw off the balance (unless it was designed with them in mind, and still it wouldn't be the equal of a streamlined design) and second the spikes at the hilt limit the space for the grip. Ultimately, it looks unwieldy and uncomfortable. I can't see a warrior with even the slightest bit of experience with knives or self-respect using it.

Hadn't seen anyone mention this so I thought I would: SciFi is moving BSG to Sunday nights on January 21, following the premiere of The Dresden Files (based on the wizard-detective series by Jim Butcher) earlier that night.

The eyes make me think "EVIL PRAWN!" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had the same reaction, except I added: "ZOMG, bat wings for horns!"

Hmm, I don't see it. If you look more closely at the photograph, Hiro has a distressed look on his face, almost as if he were trapped there. I think that such blatant manipulation of the space-time continuum has finally caused a paradox and Hiro is unable to return. That would fit with his not being back for the 5 second deadline and Ando wondering where he is. Furthermore, they tended to stress how he can't quite control his abilities as of yet. It seems a reasonable conclusion.

She doesn't have a big enough part for such a talented actress. For further example, see Carnivale.

Since everyone else has recommended primarily older shows, I'll chime in with some newer series: Kemonozume (strange art style, but it is made of win), Mushishi, Black Lagoon, as previously mentioned, the Hellsing Ultimate OVAs (infinitely better than the original series), Eureka 7, and Noein. Also, I would contest ramza on at least one point, but this stood out. HxH (HunterxHunter) manga is to be avoided at all costs: the mangaka had some kind of mental breakdown/series of serious illnesses and the art went to **** along with the story. Finally, when in doubt, go with the manga. 99% of the time, it is indeed superior.

I agree that natural evolution will almost definitely not produce two or more separate human species, however I do not think the same could be said when genetic engineering is added. It would, of course, be primarily an aesthetic choice for the wealthy and a form of increased immunity during the adoption phase. However, as it developed and it became accepted by the general population, I think it will almost certainly be adapted to more radical goals. Eventually, people might be able to choose among certain genetic packages, per se, which while not exactly different species (at least in the beginning) would grant differing abilities. Over time, as the Terran environment changes in addition to the stellar exploration, it is entirely possible that humanity develops into entirely different species. Naturally, without gross genetic intervention, this would require at least hundreds of thousands (with advanced genetic sciences to enhance the rapidity of the process) if not millions of years. I do agree that this author is a sensationalist idiot however. P.S. There is a distinct difference between Eugenics and Liberal Eugenics. FYI, Pop.

Indeed, I agree with all of the prior points. The Oriental theme is window dressing at best, merely attempting to mask the good vs. evil medieval cliche. At least, they could have attempted to adhere to a more Daoist philosophy, considering they used yin-yang quite often in the imagery. I would have preferred greater variety in character creation, though I can understand their decision to go another direction. However, the limited aspects of advancement and the completely ****ed up combat system (Balance=No) pretty much ruined it. However, my main complaint with JE is the quality of writing. The dialogue and such was for the most part very good, but the narrative itself left a great deal to be desired, in my opinion. Particularly the way they belabored the on almost every single story fight. Anyone who's seen a few kung fu movies could figure out the plot from maybe 10-30 minutes in. P.S. A harmonic combo was a shallow attempt by Bioware to extend the fighting system by giving you several style combinations to gain special effect Insta-kills. Ex: Use Ice shard to freeze an enemy then a martial style to shatter them. Enemies also tended to drop more HP/MP/etc orbs when killed in this fashion. People tended either to not know about them, spam them, or intentionally avoid them due to the cheapness.

HUZZAH! Neverwinter Nights 2 gone Gold!
Archmonarch replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
Hmm... inclines his head in consideration* Maybe the "grubby li'l digits" part, but I concur with the rest of it. Also, congrats to Obsidian. Hopefully this game will have a better reception than K2 (though I think most of that was undeserved). -
From the pictures, it could be that either you self-detonated or were hit by fire from the tank? Which is it? Also, there seems to be a rewind to last move function, so it might be wise to take advantage of it.

There are more of you?

At the moment, I'm finishing up the first half of SMT: DDS. In a few days I'll pick up SMT: Devil Summoner and then FFXII at the end of the month.

Absolutely awesome. My only complaint is that it was canceled before anything is really explained. Still, 2 great seasons!

What should Kaftan, Mkreku and Checkpoin vote for?
Archmonarch replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
There are already hundreds if not thousands of small parties already, but the 4% rule effectively stops them from gaining a foothold in the parliament. If you want to change anything politicly, you need to join one of the big parties and attempt to drive your own agenda in a sneaky and clandestine way <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Then coalesce all of the small parties into one monster party. Sure, they'd have to work out their own differences, but as long as they are reasonably aligned, they should pose quite a threat to the established majorities. -
Wishes (of the positive and best form). Hope to see you soon.

Just stats. Mostly skills/talents/knowledges. And atreides, if you want to try out different options without modding the files yourself, you might think about trying the clan mod. It can usually be found with the pnp mod. Basically it attempts to add all of the clans from Masquerade, applying the various in-game disciplines as necessary (As far as I know, no one has figured out how to input new disciplines, so some are just approximations). The pnp mod just makes things closer to the tabletop game, allowing everyone to buy some of the basic physical disciplines among other things.

That's the cabbie. He is supposed to be Caine himself. White Wolf later retconned the whole thing in some novel, explaining he's actually some antediluvian posing as Caine or something equally lame. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There were actually three "people" in that scene.

Anyone have an idea why the Tech Forum is now called Skeeter's Junkyard?

Name a game you would like to play
Archmonarch replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
Im considering something quite similar, though with a more Mesopotamian/Arab theme, as a major society in a piece I'm currently writing. I really dont see the point to an RPG without an overarching storyline. Isnt that basically the definition of a roleplaying game? Also, the point completion system seems misguided, as it would limit player choice and knowledge. ___________ Anyway, as for the game I'd like to see, I'm not really sure. I have some ideas for storylines, but I'd rather use them myself in my writing. I tend to like occult approaches though, such as those employed by Atlus or similar companies. Something about transcribing ancient mythologies into modern venues just gets me. Overall, I would want some innovative perspective/angle on the basic RPG themes. Scifi in particular has been neglected in recent years (despite ME). If there were to be a new SF RPG, I'd hope for one centered on Earth in the near future (50-250 years), with preferably no aliens and limited space travel. Humans should be the focus. However, I would not object to different subspecies as a result of gengineering or other technologies. -
See. This is exactly why the second part of Kaftan's sig holds such merit.

Do atrocities come with an expiry date?
Archmonarch replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
You've got to look a little deeper. While I admit its certainly possible Bushie has a thing against gays, Id say a political motivation is far more likely. -

The difference is there are no Romans around nowadays to keep bringing the fall of Rome up. Until prejudice is completely eliminated (not likely), people on both sides will keep rehashing the same issues. To take the example of the Holocaust, Neo-Nazis (their numbers are growing more and more every year in the past few decades) and other Antisemites cite the Holocaust as a lie, or when they acknowledge it at all, as a triumph for the Aryan race. Jews cite it as an atrocity and use it to display Antisemitism in the past and modern worlds. It serves a purpose for both parties, and until it does otherwise, no one will let it go. I guess what Im trying to say is that the issues wont disappear until the causes also disappear. But as people will always find some reason to hate each other, I'm not enthusiastic about the chances. -
What the **** kind of Sith are you? Also, I truly pity the girl and hope that everything that can be done for her is done. However, given that she is now alive, abortion seems something of a moot issue. Its not as if her parents will just mercy-kill her, though I do find their exploitation of their child on talkshows despicable. I have some small idea (though nowhere nearl what she will face, unfortunately) of what its like to be discriminated against based on some physical defect. Nevertheless, I imagine her life must be fairly hellish. Unable to communicate with the world around her and, so far as I could tell from the images, only once functional eye, I dont see a great deal of happiness in her future. Poor kid.
