  1. I weep for my eyeballs.
  2. You look like a good friend of mine. Except he puts his hair up in a ponytail. That reminds me. I need to call him up at Georgetown.
  3. Harsh Realm. There are 9 episodes so far as I know. Not great, but not bad either. Meta's kind of right about the description. The military created a virtual world mirroring the world of 1990 in every way possible and populated it with virtual recreations of every person on earth at that time. It was to be used as a training sim to show the results of a nuclear attack on the US. One of the first soldiers sent in, Santiago, took over the game world and controls much of it. Since then, the military has sent in a great many other soldiers, telling them its a video game and challenging them to beat Santiago's high score by killing his virtual representation. However, except for Santiago who has a backdoor into the system, once a person enters the game they cannot leave without killing Santiago. The main character is Tom Hobbes, the newest of the soldiers sent into Harsh Realm. There also seems to be some sort of savior prophecy about him.
  4. Jum, I cant decide if the orc in your avatar is riding the boar or using it for "recreational purposes." Also, to stay topical: I use winamp, but dont listen to much music.
  5. ok sorry I just think of them of my head instead of not then one sorry about that I will try not ot spam in the future <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You just did it again... Its possible to respond to multiple quotes in one post through Quote+.
  6. Often and with disturbing frequency. My comment was not an attempt to troll, but simply my opinion on your tastes, Volo, given your previous outspoken support of this title and condemnation of my dislike for it. Consider it preemptive. I knew you'd show up eventually.
  7. Hmm...might be a wallaby or some other kind of pygmy kangaroo.
  8. I think perhaps I should qualify my earlier post, though I know the commentary here was not directly targeting me. And hopefully, I can speak for those of a mindset similar my own: I have no problem with religion, one way or another. People can believe whatever they want, so long as it doesn't affect anyone else. What I have a problem with is the arrogance and presumed superiority some have that allows them to feel justified in imposing their positions on others as the "right path." What WITHTEETH says is somewhat accurate, many citizens of the US are angered and discomfited by the path our country seems to be taking. Perhaps we do have an axe to grind, but it does not excuse intolerance. And so if any of my posts have seemed anti-spiritualistic, I sincerely apologize. Nevertheless, as I once read, "Lord save me from prophets and fools."
  9. Ooh! Ooh! I know the answer! It's because God is good and gave us free will. Interfering would break his own laws. But the Devil is evul!! And so he can do what he wants. Now, remember children, say your prayers everynight before you go to bed, or you'll be sent to burn in the fiery torments of Hell!!!!
  10. I have overactive tear ducts, so I tend to tear up all the time. As for when I really cried, few weeks/months ago when I had a huge blowout with my father. I agree with the women here, though men shouldn't be afraid to cry. Its healthy.
  11. The new Zelda, Twilight Princess, coming out in November seems thus far to be an automatic buy.
  12. AR would be Anne Rice. Not sure about BS myself.
  13. ...It has nothing to do with AI, and is obviously social commentary disguised as a website.
  14. Yeah. Majesco dropped the ball due to their approaching bankruptcy.
  15. Personally, I loved AR and too feel saddened that there will most likely be no sequels. However, the Mustard Bros & Co. have formed a new gaming company: Chair Entertainment, so there might eventually be hope. At the moment, they are working on another game based upon the upcoming Orson Scott Card novel, Empire. As to why the game sold so badly, I would say there are two reasons: 1. Review sites utterly bashed it. For some reason, gaming sites, Gamespot in particular, absolutely hated this game, despite liking almost every part. The only parts they seem to have had trouble with are the graphics and controls, and while these certainly weren't the best features of AR, they are definitely not as terrible as the sites make out. I've heard they received pre-gold versions, but I cannot be sure. Bad reviews can impact sales. 2. Majesco f'ed up marketing. At this time, Majesco was losing money hand over fist, having taken big financial hits from expected games like Psychonauts. There was internal turmoil, people were fired, and financial backers sued. Thus, AR was not advertised to nearly the extent it should have been. There were a very few TV commercials, but thats not the big fault. AR was supposed to have been a preview for SW: Ep 3. Unfortunately, this version only reached a small number of theaters, thus almost nullifying the amount spent.
  16. Gasp! The mold has been broken, for I am Number 4.
  17. I prefer the second one. Metaldigital: what are these restrictions that corporeal life forms must adhere to that you are talking about? I am not a pro when it comes to d&d... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know Meta well enough, at least from these boards, to be sure he means the real-world physical limitations on physiology.
  18. How did Llyranor manage to edit Baley's post? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you inspect Baley's post, you will notice that the 'edited' message is part of the body, i.e. Baley typed it himself. It is not part of the normal editing functions of this board. Mystary solved!
  19. No. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was real informative. Good job, you win teh internet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've made my views on JE clear in many threads that mention it, but if you would prefer, I shall elaborate on my problems with the fighting styles. The various so-called "styles" in Jade Empire are so similar as to almost entirely negate the point of gaining them. Each has only 3-4 moves, many animations of which appear almost identical between the pure martial arts styles. Granted, the various trickster and transformation styles give a little variety but not enough to save the supposed strategic combat of the game. Any immunities or resistances are in most cases so easily overcome as to make killing them with any style simplistic, especially when the transformation styles are so heavily overpowered. And no, I did not use them, because they made an easy game utterly boring. And dont even get me started on the entirely formulaic and predictable storyline filled with stock characters and pretty much every applicable literary cliche I could name. It may have been one of the better games of the last few years, but that speaks more to the lack of good games than JE's quality. You are, as always, entitled to your own opinion, Volourn, deluded as it may be.
  20. I really liked it. Good narrator, allows the reader to sympathize with him despite the murder and everything. What Ive done here is separate the areas where I noticed a problem, either one that occurs in only this one place or one that you follow throughout the piece. I'll go through it in order. 1. Several times, I noticed runons, as in the first example. Here I would either use a semi-colon or separate it into two sentences. Either would work. 2. No big thing, just a few words out of order. Should be "at the tender age of..." 3. Same thing as 1. 4. Feat not feet. 5. This may be an American thing, but Ive always seen height done like this: 6' 7". Since your story is set in North Dakota, might want to try that. 6. Similar to 5, Ive always seen it 50-50, no percent. 7. Separate dialogue. Each should be as its own paragraph. As so: "What now?" I asked. "LA." And so on. Also, one thing I forgot to quote, you spelled stared incorrectly several times. One r, not two. Minor thing but it stands out to english readers. Otherwise, great story. I agree with kal; you have talent.
