There's really no trick to optimizing druids and priests -- especially druids, though. They both automatically get their spell lists as they level and don't really have any talents that amplify their ability to do their job, which is casting spells. Pick up extra spell castings and that's about it. Don't bother with any of the wildshape talents, though. Get rid of Aloth. He's poorly optimized and in a lackluster class. Durance and Eder are both great. Clear the first level of Oda Nua's Endless Path for Oidhreacht; it's a weapon that'll work beautifully on Eder until you get to Twin Elms much later in the game. Give Durance a ranged weapon and keep him to the back. Give Eder heavy armor and a shield and let him tank for you. Kana is great. Chanters are bad early because their lower level phrases have to be balanced with the longer but more powerful higher level ones. Invocations are where chanters really shine. Summons are really good early, but can fall off later into the game. His best phrases are the frightening one, the DR-reduction one, the and the paralyzing one. Sagani is okay. Rangers are a bit lacking. Make sure to only get talents that enhance her ranged accuracy and damage.

No class is 'easy to screw up'. Characters aren't hard to make in this game. The attributes are pretty straightforward about what they do. Unless you're trying to make a bad character, anything you make will function pretty well. Stop over complicating this with minutiae. Intelligence is good on Chanters -- not great -- because there's not much in the way of essential attributes for the class. But if you want a Chanter with high intelligence, it's probably just best to pick up Kana and roll with it. If you want a tank, put points into constitution, resolve, and perception. If you want a ranged DPS, put points into might and dexterity. Why are we still arguing about this?

Why are you waiting for us to tell you these things? Go play the game! You're on normal. It's not that difficult. Just get into the game, experiment, and try things yourself. Go to Caed Nua and pick up Kana. He's a Chanter. Put him in heavier armor and give him a shield. Alternatively, if you're set on using an adventurer from the inn, I would recommend a monk, because you can get a paladin a little bit later in the game.

You can, but swapping does take time, the delay between swap -> knockdown means it's not a great defensive tool in a pinch. It also takes a weapon set away, and some players may swap between two different defensive sets(I did). My eder is 1h. He has 95 deflection without shield which van be boosted higher with Vigorous Defense. ~90 accuracy too. On hard Shield is not really needed. Tbh pure tank is not needed at all if you play around with good CC like stunned/paralyzed/ or debuffs like blind/terrified. As for DPS melee make Rogue or Barb. I had my bar hit with Barbaric blow 6x 100+ all the mobs in the pack. Looked a bit silly when all 6 of them died instantly. Not too high deflection but with good armor + passives he can "tank' a lot. 95 deflection and 90 accuracy? Can you post a screenie of that?

There's absolutely no reason to gimp yourself by putting your might that low. Perception and resolve should be your priorities, but they don't necessarily have to be maxed. If you don't max perception and resolve, you can pick any race you want for their ability and comfortably have 18 in both stats. I don't know off the top of my head how many points that leaves you with, but you definitely don't want dexterity or might below 10, and putting intelligence that low is going to hurt your ability to use knockdown and any abilities that aren't modal. You also shouldn't have two tanky fighters in your party. You might as well swap one for a paladin. For tanking, Weapon and Shield style, Cautious Attacks, and Hold the Line are all good. For fighters, you might as well find a weapon group you like and get weapon specialization and weapon mastery in it.

Anything is viable. It's not ideal, though. Might = Damage. Rogues are meant to do damage. You're only hurting your potential by refusing to put points into might. Dual-wielding complicates the issue even more because might is % based, meaning you're going to get less overall damage increase from the smaller damage on those weapons. Piercing through DR is another problem. OIdhreacht is found in the first level of Oda Nua's Endless Path. There's a superb unique club in Twin Elm that serves the same purpose but far outclasses it for the late game.

ok, maybe I'm just too dumb to search for it in a proper way, but I still haven't found ANY -- not to speak of myriads, lol -- solid post or thread providing viable insight on a gun-rogue build... there are some beta-builds but I think they don't help much now. There's this thread and another entire thread going over rogue builds and optimization. You just have to put a smidgen of work into reading the posts. Max might and dexterity. Get all of the requisite ranged and gun-based abilities. Marksman. Gunner. Precise Shot. Weapon focus early if you want it at all. Don't get Backstab or Escape. Use both of your weapon slots for guns; one with the most damage to start the fight and another with faster reloading to use throughout. Make sure to have both a Cipher and a Chanter; the former helps set up sneak attacks, the latter increases your attack speed. Well thank you, but it's not like I'm too lazy or anything, because I've read through this thread multiple times and I don't find it particulary helpful. They all recommend -- just like you do now -- to max out dexterity; but isn't the usefulness of dex for a gun-rogue at least questionable because it doesn't help with the agonizing long reload time on guns; and isn't the attack speed on guns per se like superfast? Plz correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just here to gather enough viable and tested information for my future build. I don't understand how neither of these threads is helpful to you. What else are you going to max instead of dexterity? Perception for interrupting? That's only marginally useful considering you're using guns. Intelligence? It doesn't affect enough of the rogue's abilities to be meaningful. Constitution? You shouldn't be getting hit anyways. Resolve is completely pointless to max. I'm a bit confused about your confusion.

I'm playing on PotD and Durance is my one and only priest and, frankly, he rarely gets used. Eder, Pallegina, and Kana all make sure that nothing gets into my back line. Ultimately, it's your choice, but having two priests is a bit redundant and if you're going to have four people sitting in the back and using guns, it's pretty much necessary for you to have the chanter's phrase to help supplement that. Also, swap out one of your fighters for a paladin.

Taking the stairs down to the kitchen after defeating fampyr Raedric results in a major reputation loss with Gilded Vale.

Two-handers have more raw damage and are therefore better at piercing DR. The difference between two medium and two fast is generally negligible. Go with the best weapons you can obtain/afford, basically. Dual-wielding has a faster attack speed but lower damage, which means it's better against enemies that are either casting or who don't have high DR. One weapon style is for enemies with extremely high deflection.

Take 16 resolve. I'm pretty certain there's a bunch of resolve option that require 16. At a glance, you can probably dump intelligence. Just don't grab many AoE abilities.

A couple of things to note: If you want to be ranged, your attributes are totally fine. If you want to be a tank, however, you should drop might and dexterity and put points into constitution, resolve, and intelligence instead. Your talents are fine except for two-handed style on the ranged guy and one-handed style on the tank. The two-handed talent doesn't work on ranged weapons. Take Precise Shots instead. If you're dead set on using the arquebus, take Weapon Focus: Soldier early instead of Shot on the Run last. For the tank, instead of taking one-handed style, you can take Hold the Line.
