  1. With that much deflection, the moon godlike's passive should almost never come into effect. I'd just go with orlan.
  2. The wiki is actually pretty spot on about abilities. You get a talent at every even level and a class ability at every odd level.
  3. It looks like a lot of weapons received new inventory icons, too? That's kinda cool. I didn't notice that in the Patch Notes.
  4. Did they really? Which ones? How many? We can ask that same question of you. How many? Who? I wasn't the one making flagrant claims that one side of the discussion was a vast minority. You all sound like children. "Where's your source?" "I DON'T KNOW, WHERE'S YOUR SOURCE YOU HYPOCRITE?" lol.
  5. The part where you imply that the limerick was written with the sole intent and purpose to repress the homosexuals and transgendered people, when it is clearly entirely up to personal and subjective reason. Also - to quote the typical television or motion picture. [No Transgendered people were harmed during filming], which is entirely on point since the only one to get hurt here is the poor bloke who ended up in bed with something he didn't expect or wish and fell to his death. "Fell" to his death. Instead of killing himself because he was ashamed that he slept with someone who was 1) presenting themself as a woman and, 2) was, in fact, a male. If there's anyone who is painting the poem in a certain light in order to serve his agenda, it's the flagrant bigots flooding this thread.
  6. Thanks for proving my point that it is entirely up to your own twisted and subjective mind to be offended about... What part of my post was wrong? Can you show me where alcohol was mentioned in the limerick? Because you're telling me that I'm misreading the poem by inserting transphobia and homophobia while simultaneously asserting that there was alcohol involved. I just want you to show me where the poem mentions alochol.
  7. Except it isn't - You've purposely misread it to fit your need to find it offensive. Man gets drunk - gets into bed with "woman". It isn't "woman" - He panics and hops off an edge, which kills him. In what way does this degrade homosexuality or transgendered people? That's right - it doesn't. Not wanting to sleep with someone is not a crime against gender or sexual orientation. No. YOU'RE misreading it. The limerick said nothing about being drunk, inebriated, or anything short of sober.
  8. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I found the limerick amusing. I just find the overall reaction to the situation hilariously bigoted and some of the comments here are not only irrational, but dangerously hateful and outright hurtful. That makes Obisidians decision even more stupid. It was a very very small minority who was offended by it and they gave in. Now they get the backlash much much bigger since a lot of people apparently do not like censorship. Go figure. Small minority? Says who? For all you know, you bigots could be the loud minority and there can be a silent majority. "Small minority" is your limited perception of the situation.
  9. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I found the limerick mildly amusing. I just find the overall reaction to the situation hilariously bigoted and some of the comments here are not only irrational, but dangerously hateful and outright hurtful. Fallacy - Just because you consider yourself to be one gender does not mean everyone is required to respect that and address you as such. That is not transphobia or anything of the sort. Like this heaping pile, for instance.
  10. You're good all around. Get in some heavy armor and a shield. Pick up the invocations that reduce DR and stun at levels one and two respectively. The frighten one is also very good.
  11. ... so monks can take weapon focus peasant, put a spear in their offhand, and get the one-handed accuracy bonus on both their first and the item. Time to start a monk solo.
  12. Holyyyy. Gasp in awe as everyone's inherent bigotry comes to the forefront. ? Do you think they really are completely and utterly mentally unstable and should be confined to a padded room for their own protection? Your diction is proving my point. Putting quotes around 'trans' as if it's some imaginary thing -- some make believe group that thinks they're more special than everyone else. Obsidian has marketed Pillars of Exile as a dark fantasy game with a rating and warnings that reflect such. If people find blood and death and sexual content and coarse language to be triggering, then clearly this is not a game for them -- as it is advertised as a game that has content with these themes. A padded cell? Hyperbole isn't going to do you much justice here. Comparing the advertised content of a game to a transphobic and homophobic limerick that evaded the vetting process and was hidden is silly. Am I on Tumblr right now? In no way was that poem "transphobic", if anything it was mildly homophobic, but was much more "ALCHOLICPHOBIC" or whatever people like you would call it. You need to get a thicker skin, and stop trying to censor everyone around you. Or maybe just leave your politics at home while reading a joke. That poem was wholly transphobic and homophobic. Someone found out that they'd mistaken someone for a woman and killed themselves in shame. Because they slept with someone that they identified as being a woman, but was in fact a male. He killed himself with sleeping with a male -- homophobic. He killed himself for sleeping with someone who thought was a male, but presumably presented herself as a female -- transphobic. Slept with this person out of their own volition, mind you; there was literally not a single mention of alcohol in the limerick. Not one. You guys are the ones framing the limerick in the haze of an alocholic stupor. Oh it's much worse. It's caving in to the demands of a twitter tranny who likes to to tweet disgusting genocidal fantasies. Yet zealously expects others to live by a strict moral standard he would never, not even for a split second, apply to himself. I mean the thought would just never register. Yeah, so, this is part of the crux of the issue. I mean, we can just start with the simple use of the word "tranny" here and the egregious misgendering of the person in question. People spewing hateful comments like this about someone who has been consistently targeted by cruel messages from misogynistic men who are wishing rape, death, and maiming on them is really muddying your intentions. Let me get this straight: Erika is all of these awful things you're casting them as, but when they fight back against a torrent of hate by writing a misandrist joke -- which is what you guys are characterizing this limerick as; a harmless joke -- suddenly they're an awful wench and a tranny? That's a pretty awful double standard. What you're saying is "I hate you Obsidian, you're so awful! I won't buy your product because you got rid of a harmless joke! Screw this tranny for ruining my game! They're so awful! Look at them, making harmless jokes about men who have sent them death threats! How dare they!" Grow up. This is about hateful gamers being entitled pissants about something that doesn't affect them.
  13. Hail Storm does crush damage, not freeze. The frost talent is practically useless; it only helps Blizzard. The shock talent is good only for the storm-based spells. Which you're right, they can be stacked -- but they don't do much damage per hit because they stun enemies. Compared to burn spells, which all do high damage and target multiple enemies, the shock talent isn't worth it compared to the burn one, especially considering the burn talent can be used immediately with Sunbeam. The storm spells are good on their own; they aren't there to do insane damage, they're there to chip out the enemy gradually while stunning them. You'll get a lot more bang for your +20% buck with the high damage fire spells.
  14. Items raise stats after character creation. You don't get extra attributes as you level. Perception and resolve would go well with a tank -- a fighter or paladin would probably be best, but a chanter can work just as well. I wouldn't worry about intelligence; it needs to be higher than you can get it for dialogue options. But get resolve and perception to 18-20 for a tank and keep the rest of your stats relatively even.
  15. 1. Damaging abilities are modified by might. 2. AoE is modified by intelligence. But Paladins don't really have AoE's. 3. Intelligence, again. This is all readily available in the descriptions of the attributes yourself. Perception gives +3% chance to interrupt enemies with a value equal to your weapon's interrupt rate. Heavier, slower weapons interrupt for longer. Interrupt is countered by concentration. A d100 is rolled to determine interrupt whenever hit. 1-50 doesn't intterupt, 51-100 does interrupt. Every point of perception adds three to that roll. Max might and dexterity for damage. Lower resolve before you lower perception. You don't need much perception, but you don't want to treat it as a dump stat because of your paladin aura. This game isn't hard. Just pick something and get in game -- especially if you're just playing on normal or hard.
  16. It really doesn't matter. They're both good. Seriously, we're getting into very tiny details here. If you have troubles with the boreal dwarf's favored enemies, go there. If you just don't care, go with wood elf. I'd rather have +2 might than +2 dexterity on my caster, though.
  17. My God. You all sound like some snobbish customer who indignantly declares they'll never, ever support Starbucks because someone forgot to put whipped cream in their drink -- as if their lack of support or immature foot stomping should be noted around the world despite the fact that it's nonsensical garbage. Get over it and stop acting like entitled brats. The poem was transphobic. It was homophobic. And you're right -- it wasn't a "big deal." So why can't it just be changed? It doesn't affect you. It doesn't affect the integrity of the game. There wasn't a drop in the game's quality. This wasn't a hurried patch that tarnished the balance or awkwardly rewrote the story. It was a poem that was offensive towards a group that has been systematically put down and explicitly targeted by cruelty and inhumane acts. Something tells me -- maybe the fact that everyone here has a brash, unfounded sense of entitlement and outright pathetic propensity to think their hateful white male agenda is more important than others' safety and comfort -- that this change isn't going to influence your life or your decisions in any particular way. But the poem's hurtful message -- purposeful or not -- certainly could have its affect on a young trans person or someone struggling with any degree of fluidity in their gender or sexuality. On a Leelah Alcorn whose life is surrounded by hate directed at trans and gay people. Is it small? Yes. But people have every right to be upset about the message the poem conveyed. And Jesus Christ, it's a goddamn limerick. The fact that you're up in arms about preserving a few transphobic lines is very telling of the gaming community's propensity for things like the miserably hateful storm that is #gamergate. If you want to protest something, get off your high horse and find something to protest for that matters. You know -- like fighting for the human rights of people who are treated like subhuman trash by our society.
  18. I'm dumb and lazy. How were fast attack weapons tuned?
  19. Monk. There is no NPC monk; you have to hire an adventurer to get one. You can either tank or deal damage with a monk. For damage, go with either an aumaua or a dwarf and max out your might and dexterity. For a tank, take an orlan and max out resolve and perception. There aren't much race/class dialogue elements. They're a thin icing on the cake if anything.
  20. I think burn is the best. The only worthwhile Frost spell is Blizzard. Dancing Bolts at level 1 is outdone by Sunbeam, and the storm-based spells don't do enough damage per hit to benefit greatly from another 20%. Two-hander melee druid is a bit gimmicky but also surprisingly satisfying. Fire Brand attacks deflection, not reflex, but it's further enhanced by Taste of the Hunt and the increased burn damage talent. Druids also have ways to increase accuracy against deflection, too.
  21. I think I've only seen two with dexterity. 16-18 scores in intelligence, resolve, and perception all comes up frequently though. Might happens a lot, but the highest I've seen it is 16, I think, and frankly they're all usually something along the lines of, "I'll kill you if you don't do what I say!" which isn't entirely conversational.
  22. If you twisted my arm and told me I had to pick one of the elements to buff on the druid, I'd have to say burn. The issue is, each element excels at different spell levels. At level one, Sunbeam is objectively better than Shocking Bolts for targeting reflex as long as the enemy doesn't have fire resistance. At level two, blizzard is leaps and bounds Summer Flame's superior. At three, Returning Storm is the only elemental spell. At four, Calling the World's Maw does less damage than Boiling Spray (burn) but it's much easier to aim and it knocks enemies prone. At five, well... everything is good! But Fire Bug is meant for short, small encounters that you want to finish quickly -- and those battles are going to be relatively easy anyways. Relentless Storm is incredibly good for prolonged fights on harder difficulties with the wealth of extra trash mobs that are put into encounters. And it stuns. So, assuming your might is maxed, shock would give you an extra few points of damage to your lightning, but the lightning doesn't do much damage to enhance with a percentile buff. 20% onto burn, on the other hand, might make Sunbeam more useful early on and give Boiling Spray a large enough impact to justify using it. Same with Fire Bug -- especially in conjunction with a Cipher tossing Mind Blades.
