  1. These days I have way less free time than before, but I'm currently still running Deadfire. I also play BG3... been meaning to start a completely evil Durge honor mode run after my current Deadfire run. I also am planning on a second Avowed run when that's wrapped up (and some new content patches have come out in the meantime). Beyond that though, it's honestly a little bit of a blur. I tried picking up D2 again, but I have so much less free time than in my 20s that I feel like I should be a lot more consequential with how I spend it (instead of mindlessly grinding for mid/high runes in D2r hell difficulty), so I'm also curious how other Eora fans are spending their time. BG3 scratches a particularly party-based CRPG itch pretty well, but it's a little sad that RTWP is functionally dead again. I've taken to running a family D&D session to keep scratching the party-based RPG itch from a different angle. the retro style looks fun, reminds me of Ultima, I might have to give it a shot.

  2. My AI overlord tell me: "People are most likely to become infected when they inhale water droplets containing Legionella bacteria from sources such as: air conditioning units, hot tubs, showers, fountains, and humidifiers." Thats why I dont go to Buckingham Fountain, bums wash in there. Just kidding. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

  3. It's not really similar to PoE/Deadfire (pixel graphics, turn-based), but it's a party CRPG: Skald: Against the Black Priory I did enjoy it a lot. It doesn't have the replay value like PoE/Deadfire have, but it was a great experience for me nonetheless.

  6. New policy limits new COVID-19 vaccines to just older adults and at-risk kids, thereby stopping the virus in it tracks. New Trump vaccine policy limits access to COVID shots The new health policy seems to be, "just die already, will ya?"

  7. am legit conflicted 'bout the shocking ignorance o' those trump has put in power. on the one hand, if these jokers were more knowledgeable and capable, they would be better able to carry out their agenda o' destruction. on the other hand, a clown with a flamethrower is only marginal less dangerous than would be a more serious engine of chaos. as to china... am gonna note that we also heard from some o' the same board experts in january and february of 2022 that it were journalists and politicians in the west who were "banging the drums of war." all the concern 'bout putin predations were overblown, right? HA! Good Fun!

  8. I'm playing Deadfire, now I'm going to decide wether to start another run with a modded class, play the ultimate on PoE1 and 2 or move to other games. BG1 and BG2 are the spiritual ancestors of PoE, you know: isometric, party, fantasy, real time with pause, but above all the companion deep characterization is the similar feature that "lives" in Poe1 as it was "born" in BG.

  9. I've just finished a Wildrhymer run and I've to say that "The Thunder Rolled Like Waves on Black Seas" has saved my back sometimes, also at late levels

  10. Hi folks. As someone who returns to Eora every couple of years for another run of Pillars of Eternity or Deadfire (having completed both games and their DLCs multiple times), I find myself once again deep in another PoE 1 playthrough. I'm not yet a Pillars veteran like a lot of posters here, but I'm an enthusiast of Eora and the genre generally. My curiosity led me to wonder what other fans, especially long-time veterans, are playing these days. In particular, I’m interested in games that share similarities with Pillars in terms of lore, gameplay, or both, as these are the aspects that keep drawing me back to these titles. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed a variety of CRPGs, including the original Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale games, the two Pathfinder titles, and several turn-based RPGs like BG3. While many of these have been great experiences, the two Pillars games remain the only ones I return to for just one more run. So, I’d love to hear from others: what are you playing now or recently? What games do you consider spiritually or mechanically similar to PoE 1 and Deadfire?

  11. So two years ago I hung a birdbox in one of our trees and it was a rousing success (3 chicks born huzzah). Then last year I took it down and hung a new one in the same spot and bupkus, no residents and the squirrels eventually nibbled it to pieces to take the cedar to their nests. This year I bought a two-pack of boxes and hung one in the same spot and one a few feet away, and Im thrilled to report we have a nesting pair in one of them! w00t! Next up I plan to hang the hummingbird feeder. I love those little guys. I really want to make lifelong friends with a crow or raven but I dont see them too often around my house.

  12. After 10th Edition 40K kind of falling flat for me I've been having some of the most fun playing tabletop wargames with <<The Old World>> of late. Though it might help that I finally have the confidence to field a big centerpiece model like the Forest Dragon now that the elf with garbage Toughness riding it can't just be cut off or blasted by a cannonball just like that: And my army on parade:

  13. Cabaret (1972). I liked it a lot! I was not surprised to read that the starring actress (Liza Minnelli) had been advised to play the lead role and subsequently researched and modeled her mannerisms after Louise Brooks. It's the kind of performance I wish Louise Brooks had been afforded the opportunity to play in a talkie. The musical numbers were really something else.

  14. I wonder what this means for the future of Avowed? No DLCs? They just now announced a road map for continued development of the game, so I am left somewhat confused.

  15. https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/avowed-director-carrie-patel-leaves-obsidian-after-12-years-to-join-the-netflix-studio-behind-oxenfree/ Interesting decision, Carrie Patel is leaving Obsidian to take a prominent position at a Netflix studio I didnt even know existed People take new jobs all the time and its relatively common but I assume her creativity will be missed " As for Patel, she's had a long and seemingly enviable career at Obsidian: Prior to serving as director and narrative designer on the very well-received Avowed, she worked as narrative designer on Pillars of Eternity and The Outer Worlds, and narrative design lead (along with Obsidian stalwart Josh Sawyer) on Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Given all that, it might seem a bit odd that Patel would want to make the move from one to the other, and for now we're left to speculate: Netflix has the resources to put a lot of money on the table to attract big-name talent, sure, but it's just as likely that Patel simply wants to get creative with a smaller team. Patel herself hasn't said any more about her reasons for making the move or what she'll be getting up to at Night School, and Netflix confirmed that Patel has joined Night School as a game director but declined to comment further. 16. My Sis had a nice trip to Scotland, England, and France all planned out, and I was happy for her since she's had some difficult times lately. She ends up in a hospital in Scotland with Legionnaire's disease. Sheesh, who gets Legionnaire's disease? Anyway, she's resting up and recovering now, thank goodness. But the holiday had to be cancelled.
