am mindful o' the fact that just 'cause a person is almost entire wrong, they could still have a point... might even be right. what we mean is that while the gen z women who shared the tiktok vid had bogus numbers leading to fundamental flawed conclusions, she were at least partly correct that recent college grads is facing new and difficult challenges. yeah, am so not getting the intransigence o' many gen z college grads to take jobs which they deem to be offering insulting remuneration. wtf is that about? even so, the aforementioned student loan issues coupled with housing costs which have outstripped inflation by a significant degree (just to name a couple o' the many problems faced by gen z) means that in spite o' the fact new grads is making more money in inflation adjusted dollars than did gen x or boomers, youngsters like the tiktok poster is having future prospects significant diminished from previous generations. am understanding the frustration o' gen z. yeah, immigrants to the US from india, taiwan and nigeria are no doubt baffled by the woe-is-me tales o' gen z. 'course gen x woe-is-me stories were equal confusing to russian and mexican immigrants. some things never change. when maga cultists, entitled gen z brats, or new england patriot fans spout off and is objective wrong 'bout facts it becomes ez to dismiss 'em. at such times we need remind self that while the gen z and maga folks is preternatural wrong, their frustration is real and the anger they feel is not gonna disappear 'cause they were fact checked. 'course on the obsidian message board we ain't genuine trying to achieve dialectic in most cases and we have zero empathy for patriots fans. we never claimed to be a saint. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Gedonia. Continued the main story and it's really bad. One of the quests was going to a camp full of specialists to translate some runes, just to be sent back to the npc that sent me there since said npc is the only one who can translate the runes. I also learned how to fly, which really helps when travelling, spent a few points in Dark Magic to summon skeletons and discovered a temple and a frontier region where the enemies are actually strong.1 point

If that's Murdoch related distrust Sky (UK*, which sky.com is owned by) hasn't been owned by him in ages, Comcast bought everyone else out in 2018. They certainly don't have the same overt agenda that Uncle Rupes had, more a standard corporate one, and though Sky News (UK) aren't 100% reliable they certainly aren't anywhere near the Daily Heil or Scum level to just make things like that up or massively misrepresent them wholesale. *He still owns the (utterly awful) Sky Australia though.1 point

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, season two, episode two. We do have an idiom that literally translates to "even a blind chicken sometimes finds some grain", the meaning of which should be clear and which applies rather aptly to this episode, because this was the best Star Trek episode of nuTrek by a very fair margin. Never had to pause, never facepalmed and never felt like venting. If I had to name something negative, it was that the episode was derivative. The complaint that the episode plot has been done before is rather minor considering that it made good use of all the characters and their backgrounds, and was thankfully almost completely free of the jovial teenage crew dialogue that I despise so much about this series. It even took current social issues and highlighted them without being obnoxious about them, and even though they prominently feature the Federation, it does so while staying well within the Star Trek canon. Dare I say it, this was not just a good episode of Strange New Worlds, nay, it was a good Star Trek episode. Good sci-fi. Color me orange and call me sunkist, never thought I would ever say that about anything called Star Trek after 2009. Guess all it took was writing a writer who worked on Once Upon A Time, of all things. Now make her write all the other episodes too.1 point

That could indeed be fun. I think I may do that. I've recently started experimenting with using a hireling in my runs. I like to grab npcs for the story but fitting in one or even two hirelings wouldn't be the worst thing. Could still have 2 real npcs that way to round out the rest of the party. Last run I paired a Kind Wayfarer dual wielding pistols ( @Boeroer mentioned this idea in one thread or another) with a Soul Blade/Stalker using Sun & Moon + Tuotilos. Rest of the party was npcs. Was my first time running a serious hireling that I kept past Port Maje and she was super effective with those pistols at healing and the dps was much higher than I expected it to be also. So I'm starting to warm up to the idea of sprinkling in a hireling or two in my runs to test out more builds.1 point

Oh, I thought it was moved into the future. Welp, guess that bridge will stay broken then. 0/10, not gonna play.1 point

It's coming out earlier than the original date. Because of Starfield.1 point

I bet they are fixing the bridge where the boat didn't fit through.1 point

Maybe this should've been in the funny thread, but despite all it's humour and memes, I must say as a Gen-X, I can relate wholeheartedly to this1 point

I broke my own rule about not watching anything that has Alex Kurtzman's fingerprints on it and attempted to watch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. I made it about halfway through season 1 when I lost the will to continue, for now, anyway, which I think is further than I made it with Discovery. I'll give it this, it's not the horrific nightmare that was what I saw of Discovery and at no point was I seriously considering throwing my TV out of the window. Anson Mount is good as Pike and the show does have that hopeful vibe that I'm looking for with Star Trek. It's got it's moments and the melodrama is not quite as ridiculous as in Discovery. But man, they get so ****ing proud of themselves. There are those moments at the ends of the episodes where I can see the writers patting themselves on the back and I guess I'm supposed to get teary eyed and maybe I should stand up and clap or pump my fist in the air, I think that's the reaction they thought I'd have. This is me instead:1 point

solution from +6 months previous to today: it is possible to rest at threshold. so, rest for the needed months at threshold. your crusade morale will drop for failure to take new forts, but w/o reentering the world map you won't suffer additional army attacks. functionally there is no penalty for low morale if you never leave threshold while advancing the calendar. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Not currently sadly I thought before about whether to load other icon sheets besides Item & SpellAbility, but there's a bit of manual work to extract the coordinates for each sheet and I figured it was low priority. Also some concerns about memory usage iirc. Which icon sets are you interested in?1 point

There were rumors that he stole some nuclear weapons a few days ago, which I kinda doubt, but who knows. In any case, it reminded me so much of Metal Gear Solid, it's almost funny. Looks like I wasn't the only one.1 point

Cyber Knights: Flashpoint demo Character customization is locked in the demo but you can choose from 1 of 4 presets. I went with wastelander. In the tradition of XCOM, at one point I missed 5 of 7 "70% chance to hit" attacks. Base management is mostly locked in the demo as is the market. The game's not going to win any awards for graphics, but it was the political machinations, trying to navigate a web of backstabbing and deception, that I really liked in Star Traders: Frontiers, and, from the bit I played in the demo, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint seems to have that in spades and will let you make choices that can take you down very different paths, for good or bad.1 point

Didn't see a France thread. Guess everyone's tired of seeing her burn every other year? Heh. Being able to do more reps with a given weight generally translates to a better 1RM, and it will build endurance you won't get by doing the typical 3-5 rep sets while aiming for the biggest possible bench. As for the suggestion of targeting 2x BW, sure... if competition is the goal. For reference, 2x BW bench puts one in the elite category of lifters which is like the top 5%. Non-insignificant risk of a pec tear, where heavy bench pressing is overrepresented as a cause, also casts doubt on whether that's a "wiser and better use" of one's time.0 points
