Volourn Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 The Walmart thing? isn't that just the silly nonsense that Walmart pays employees 'little' so their employees go on welfare? That isn't 'corporate welfare'. Also, Welfare actually tends to pay its employees better than most businsses at that 'skill level'. Certainly better than most 'mom and pop' shops that charge outrageous prices, and don't pay their employees a great wage or even give benefits that match. ie. It is better to work at Walmart than some corner store (money and benefits wise though you have to deal with a more corporate culture of course). FACT. Unless the gvo't is actually giving money to Walmart directly which is uncool if it is true. P.S. I notice that posts supports programs for women but not for men. Just another sexist piece of ****. P.S.S. Earth is an evil 'mother' unless you think a mother that mass murders here children is a good mother. HAHAHAHAHA. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

ShadySands Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Donna Brazile: Passing debate questions to Clinton camp 'a mistake I will forever regret' Former interim Democratic National Committee chairperson Donna Brazile has for months been dodging questions about passing along questions to Hillary Clinton's staff in advance of a CNN debate -- but now, she's speaking out and calling the misstep "a mistake I will forever regret." Emails from Clinton campaign Chair John Podesta's account were released in October by WikiLeaks showing that the then-CNN contributor had forwarded questions ahead of a March primary debate. I thought I remembered her denying it at some point and not just dodging questions about it Free games updated 3/4/21
BruceVC Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Sorry guys but I feel I need to write this melancholic post One of my uncles came to visit my dad from the USA and he reminded us of how his son and friend was killed in the Angola War, I remember the day like yesterday. He was a paratrooper and very well liked. His funeral was very packed with many people, many varsity people and army buddies http://samvousa.org/operation-firewood-26-year-remembrance/ Then I remembered all the people I have known who died in the wars in Southern Africa against Communism, my family in Rhodesia use to mention how after Vietnam several hundred former Vietnam soldiers came to Rhodesia to continue the fight against Communism They were very proficient and experienced fighters, they actually helped refine the Rhodesian fireforce helicopter special attack strategy which they used in Vietnam. Check this out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireforce They were instrumental in this attack, imagine these numbers of casualties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Dingo Here is some information about the US soldiers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crippled_Eagles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_C._MacKenzie 1 "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Raithe Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 I have to admit, I'm amused by the mocking of Paul Ryan over the #pintgate mess from St Patrick's Day. Offending the Irish by holding a despicable pint with no head and a poor way of holding it. Just rounding off the amount of Irish'isms the Washington court carried out in an attempt to show their blarney. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."

Azdeus Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) US [and Saudi Arabia] forces G20 to drop any mention of climate change' in joint statement Fricking old stooges. Edited March 19, 2017 by Azdeus Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Guard Dog Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 A moment of clarity here. People are foaming-at-the-mouth rabid (well, not most but some people are) over the Trump budget with cuts grants to Meals on Wheels. The total dollar amount cut is a little over $248,000 to an organization that brings in $7.5M a year http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/03/17/despite-outrage-over-cuts-federal-funds-are-fraction-meals-on-wheels-budget.html But, Time Magazine (never one to shy away from yellow journalism) and Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (who should know better) insist Trump is killing the program. Even the Chicago Tribune (no fan of Trump there) called them out over it: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/schmich/ct-mary-schmich-meals-on-wheels-20170317-column.html I'd just like to point out that people donated over $248,000 to make a Bernie Sanders action figure that you can now buy on Amazon for $15: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fctry/bernie-sanders-action-figure. Perhaps they should have donated to one of the groups under the Meals on Wheels umbrella instead. Then not only would MoW not be short all those non-biodegradable, environmentally harmful plastic action figures would not end up in a land fill one day. Zoraptor Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I'm completely over medical insurance as a thing. It is a failed experiment. Medical insurance itself is perfectly fine both theoretically and practically. The US system is... non optimal, I think everyone would agree, but that is due to more reasons than it being primarily based on medical insurance. There are efficient healthcare systems based on medical insurance, albeit most have a compulsory element to them and more regulation than the US likes.

So that's where we're dumping sick people? You're dumping them in Germany, too. Pretty sure our medical care system is faster than Canada's and I know there's stats advertising that much. When they repeal it, I will again be uninsurable or dumped into the "high risk pool" which provide coverage for everything expect the breathing issues at a higher cost. So the $400 for 30 days med that I take so I can breathe will out of pocket as will all visits to my specialist ($175 to walk in the door), the tests they do check my lung capacity ($350) that they require when I visit said specialist, and anything else they deem as "related" to my pre-existing condition. This meme is not an exaggeration for me. I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Hurlshort Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 ^What did they do before 2010? Well, costs have doubled since then, so I'd imagine that is a factor.
Hurlshort Posted March 21, 2017 Author Posted March 21, 2017 Just to give a real world example from my perspective, I buy the best insurance I have available from my employer. The family plan deducts $693 dollars a month from my paycheck every month, and my school district kicks in an additional $2187 dollars every month to the insurance company. This plan gives us access to a pretty large network of providers. My family of four is pretty dang healthy. We are all active and we stick to a pretty good diet. My wife recently had her gall bladder out, which is a pretty standard procedure. I just received the breakdown in the mail, so lets go over it. The original charge from the hospital was $21,619. Now because the hospital is in our network, they work out a discount with the insurance company that shaves off $14,413. My insurance company paid $6,236 of that, and I am left with a $970 bill. So basically we give the insurance company nearly $3000 every month and we still get hit with a nearly $1000 bill when we have a fairly standard operation done. Imagine how crazy that bill is going to look when someone gets hospitalized for a period of time. And I say WHEN because the vast majority of us are going to end up needing this. Unless you get lucky and keel over without any warning signs, you are going to need some major medical care at some point in your life.
