The daughter of famous Belgian racing driver Jackie Ickx never knew she wanted to be with me, but, someday we'll rent motorcycles and ride the Alps, drop down to the Riviera, have tea and strumpets by the sea, laughing and in love with life and each other.

You two might want to consider dating outside the League of Assassins.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

I don't know if I'd call the thread serious. I just thought it was pretty telling that Kirottu began it with humor and wit and a bunch of people went straight to the physical.

I know I wouldn't.

But I am very happy with my gf right now and am not just saying she fits my ideal because she probably e-stalks me. But if she were I'd like to say she does lunges best in yoga pants and looks very good in tight faded jeans and should do both those things more often.

I'm about to take this more seriously than the OP likely intended...

Okay, I'll divide my ideal partner into three categories:

1: Personality/behavior-

I'd like a woman with a calm temperament. Some one stoic and rational at all times. I've dealt with more than enough drama and I don't want to deal with any more ever again. My ideal partner would never hesitate communicate anything important on her mind (in an appropriate setting), but would be articulate enough to be able to express herself in easily understandable terms. I'd like for her to be very intelligent and knowledgeable. As for her lifestyle I'd like a woman with the same interests and way of life as me. I don't like to rely on others, and I don't waste my life in pursuit of superfluous wealth. Obviously, I'd want her to be the same way.

2: Looks-

There are many different looks women have that I find attractive. Ultimately it's hard for me to choose a favorite. I might post some images of women I find equally ideal in their own way later. I will say though that I do like dark skin, so while different body types can be equal in their own way. Black women have an innate advantage over all others for me (not that I don't find women of other ethnic backgrounds attractive). I should also note that I'm not too concerned about appearance so as long as they pass the personality test almost any woman would be acceptable.

3: Situation-

Preferably my ideal partner would already be a home owner, as I'd prefer that we each still have our own living spaces for when we want some time apart. I'd like it if my spouse didn't have a family. I don't wanna meet her parents or extended family; so it would help if she didn't have any. I'd enjoy if she had a steady income with plenty of time off from her work. What she does; I don't care unless it could somehow become my problem.

And we've not even gotten into how crazy your ideal partner will probably will be.

For cereal though, since we seem to be getting all Captain Crunchy.

There is no such thing as the ideal woman, unless you want a robot. But I'd argue that's not really a woman.

Live long enough, be surprised (both pleasantly and horrifically) a few times by women, and you'll realize and embrace the fact that the ideal woman is not an ideal woman.

I don't like surprises. If a relationship is packaged with surprises; count me out.

Seems to fail Malcador's test, though. But hey no such thing as "ideal", right?

Lol. Disturbing? Fantasizing about your own clone is so 2009.

Also, lol @ Hurl going on about how looks aren't important. Dude's married to a bikini model. Seems legit.

As that geneticist said when being interviewed and was asked why he specialised in his subject matter "I have a dream."

The reporter turned a little snarky on it and was all "What, cure cancer, feed world hunger?"

The geneticist replied "No. A redhead. 5'7. 36-24-36 and with legs up to...."

But seriously, yes, physical attraction is nice, but it's not going to kick off beyond aesthetic appreciation if you can't enjoy yourself in the company of whoever your with. The person who you can just relax and BE when you're together. The ones who can get your personal crazy, and accept it happily without trying to change it. Hell, if you can't laugh together during sex, what's going to be the point of it in the long run? And frankly, whether your minds mesh and your chemistry clicks can vary wildly on so many small things.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

Bah. It is boring if you get on all the time. Must be my childhood but I always find people that act as if fights in a relationship are bad. Is a good stress reliever and hardens one up. :p

I'm pretty sure I've stumbled upon a research which pretty much confirms that couples which actually face their issues have a tendency of being a fair bit happier. After 8 years my wife still won't let me go to sleep until we resolve whatever happens to be wrong between us and I still consider her my ideal partner, so I guess it works well enough.

That excludes every woman on the planet.

Meh, it excludes every man on the planet too. There are certain activities I don't ask my wife to rationalize every time she wants to partake in them. ... Know what, actually, that's exactly what I'm going to do one of these days.
