Turned up the heat for the first time this half of the year. Which is unusually late.

The winter here is incredibly mild, worryingly so.. about 10-12C (+50F). For one it's not a good sign in general and it spells a wet and stormy year to come.

It's been the same here (Not really surprising, but still).

We had one day with below freezing temperatures here, but other than that it's been really warm. It's uncanny having temperatures of +8C during the nights in december.

Just came home from my grandmothers funeral, was... awkward. That side of the family has always been a bit pretentious, it was in the same chapel as my other grandmothers funeral, but the mood and atmosphere was very different. Much more rigid and heavyhanded with the churchiness. Wich came as all wrong, because my grandmother was atheistic as ****.

I'm thinking about contacting a lawyer or something and making certain that my own funeral is lighthearted easy going. Going to have clothing as "klädnad; Valfri" wich translates to "what you feel like" but can be interpreted as "optional". Anyone that comes naked gets a cake.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

Well I did feel the weather would change, in my lower intestines.

or was it knees.

Perhaps you should have a probe up you lower intestine, as well. That'll sort the prognosticators in there.

Today I tried rubbing my palms together fast and long enough to create flames.

It didn't work.

But you'll never notice if you have spontaneously developed super powers unless you do random checks.

Tomorrow I may try teleportation once more.

Tried teleportation. Didn't work either.

Will try telekinesis today. Might also try some astral projection. If you suddenly see me standing in your living room, please let me know that it worked.

Had a day off so I focused on some lifts. Leg-day today, did a couple of 150kg squats.

I love leg day, fews things are worse than being bulky but having a worthless lower half (like all those guys in women magazines), its terrible looks- and strength-wise.

I always thought that if you are going to have one part noticeably better trained than the rest, it would make sense for it to be the legs that have to carry all of that rest.

I always thought that if you are going to have one part noticeably better trained than the rest, it would make sense for it to be the legs that have to carry all of that rest.

From a practical standpoint, core (back, abs and obliques) strength is whats most important. Thats what you need the most if you have to pick up heavy stuff from the floor and move it around or put it on a shelve. Legs are not that important for the every day person since a healthy normal person has already good leg strength from climbing stairs, walking, jumping etc. Leg strength usually surpasses core strength by far. Thats why a beginner should always start with core exercises before attempting serious lifts, core strength is your foundation.

Things are very different for athletes though, its very easy to turn the whole thing around and outgrow your legs, especially with the way people train nowadays (only machines, focusing on upper body strength, not doing practical exercises etc.)

Here is a fun parody about leg training:

So many old timers that aren't around any more. :(

Yeah a lot of great posters no longer post - but then again considering that many of us have been posting in the same forum since 1999-2000 or so, its also amazing how many of us have stuck with it!

EDIT: And it should be noted that a few posters are no longer with us, having passed on. :(

Not really a good memory, the threads were randomly chosen after a brief perusing by the following criteria:

6 threads that came up in WOT that had "Greatest" "Thread" and "ever" in a single post in the thread.

A thread about Ghosts and one about UFOs I recalled fondly.

A thread from the late Judge Hades (aka Hades aka Vicseris aka...) talking about killing another persona.

An early thread about usernames and avatars that's hilarious to read as everyone has changed their avatars so the descriptions make no sense.

Long strange series of events has led to me being the originator of an idea that's being sent to my dad's old company. Specifically it deals with water quality cleanup that effects the farming regions due to nitrate use, and if the company could set up shop in the farming belt and make some money off water cleanup. Hopefully this works out.
