Are you sure you didn't get beaten because you aren't  fully comfortable with how the combat works? This often happens in games like this and then people tend to blame the game for losing a particular battle ?

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright has finally hit the states! I'm so excited I just can't hide it.

Helping to justify my 3DS after most of a year of non-use.

I'm also still playing Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition. Trying to finish up Baldur's Gate quests before I attack the Iron Throne.

Beat the main game of Assassins Creed 3. I don't think i've been more angry with a mission in any of the games than I was with the last one in that. My daughter came to see if I was alright I was screaming at it so much.

Started my second play through of Risen 3.  I'm probably going to make a save right before my decision to join a faction so I can just finish off the two remaining factions from that save without starting right from the beginning.

You have no clue what you are talking about Bruce.

Trying to play the Crusader Kings 2 tutorial. I'd heard it has issues, but by god, it's barely functional. I get the feeling I'd have better luck reading or watching a gameplay video than trying to make heads or tails of this mess.

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

So far, I'm enjoying this more than Butcher Bay. Better spaced loading screens and the stealth is more fun. The shooting is still pretty awful and melee combat even worse however.

Also, I thought my knifefight with the captain was the final bossfight, but nope, I crash on a nearby planet and continue on. That really surprised me. Out with the dark spaceship interiors, in with the sunlit beach.

Finished New Vegas, Legion ending. Simply to halt the path to the old world atrocities that the new world is stumbling down, stave it off for a few more years. At least that's how I justified it to myself, still felt like a cad and a bounder as the ending slides were playing however.

Fantastic game.

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

I got past some of the issues earlier, one telling me to split my army because it was too big to fit on the boats (it wasn't), then one where it told me to declare war, but finding I couldn't because during the previous part of the tutorial my cash balance went into the negative - had to restart that part of the tutorial. Now it's telling me that my wife is dead, and that I should click this button to arrange a new marriage. Except that she isn't quite dead. Not dead at all, actually.

Bloody hell.

EDIT: A quick Google reveals that part of the tutorial has been broken for well over a year. Geez.

Starting a new attempt at beating the Shifting Passages in Desktop Dungeons. Aim is to also get the unstopable award by killing all high level monsters.

Last attempt as an elven sorcerer went completly wrong when I decided to worship Taurog the god of war and traded all my spellcasting in for a full set of Taurog's armour and weapon and his death immunity. Would have been perfect if it wasn't for the "shifting" part of the Shifting Passages, which has the walls changing. Ended up stuck in a dead end, with a golem 2 levels above me blocking the way out and myself at 1 HP.

This time I'll do better.

Might have to start out with an altar of Binlor, so I'll be guaranteed to be able to tear down these walls that hold me inside...

In a moment of weakness, I bought a PS4 and Madden 15.  It is pretty nice.

I'm glad my moments of weakness tend to be a lot less expensive than yours.  :p

In a moment of weakness, I pre-ordered a Samus amiibo.

I almost wound up getting Peach and Donkey Kong too, but my willpower kicked in and held me to getting just the Samus amiibo...  for now.  Hopefully they make a Bayonetta amiibo in the future.  Also, Mallo from Pushmo would be cool too.

Played Dark Souls 2 The Crown of the Old Iron King all the weekend. It has easily the best boss fights in the game. Fighting the Fume Knight and Sir Alonne in coop was pure fun.

Now I'm trying to get my wife to buy it for me but she knows I'll only ever play Madden, NBA Live/2k, and maybe beisbol or hockey on it

That made me think for a bit.  I don't think I've played a baseball game since...  the 80s on the NES.  I wouldn't mind if the made a baseball game for the Wii U, but not a super realistic one, I'd like a Nintendo'd up game, like they've done for other sports, like golf and tennis.  They probably have something like that in the Wii shop, but I don't want something with motion controls, I don't want to be waving a Wiimote to hit the ball or whatever.  I want regular controls, maybe also something using the gamepad touchscreen, swiping to put motion on the ball when pitching or something like that, but otherwise regular analog stick (or d-pad) and physical buttons controls, but with a Nintendo spin on it, all colorful and charming like.  It would be pretty cool to field a team of koopa troopas, maybe have Bowser as the catcher.  Fun stuff like that, but not a mini-game as part of a Mario Party or whatever, a full fledged game with team management, stats for players, the whole shebang.

Paradox tutorials are universally poor.

My favourite was them thinking that having Adolf Hitler (!) 'narrate' the 'tutorial' for Hearts of Iron III was a good idea.
