bobobo878 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Dragon Age II Come on bro, don't jerk us around. I'm dead serious, Dragon Age II was a very innovative game. It solved a countless array of problems, from boring things happening when a player pushes a button, to homophobic player companions, to unnecessarily complicated dialogue trees. I hope that Dragon Age III and Project Eternity both take this a step further, making conversations even more cinematic, adding potential LIs with a more inclusive range of sexual identities, and making the combat even more immersive. 1 One recent survey by a Washington-based researcher concluded that Americans were far more willing to participate in cannibalism then they have in the past hundred years. America is a nation that will not suffer abominations lightly.
Ieo Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 ._. The KS Collector's Edition does not include the Collector's Book. Which game hook brought you to Project Eternity and interests you the most? PE will not have co-op/multiplayer, console, or tablet support (sources): [0] [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Write your own romance mods because there won't be any in PE. "But what is an evil? Is it like water or like a hedgehog or night or lumpy?" -(Digger) "Most o' you wanderers are but a quarter moon away from lunacy at the best o' times." -Alvanhendar (Baldur's Gate 1)
HereticSaint Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 From a single player perspective, I'd have to say FF7, however unpopular that choice is... I burned so much time into that game that it's insane. Multiplayer, the original EQ, the only MMO I actually quit playing while I still actively enjoyed it.
Damkyan Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Planescape Torment.... Finished it like 13 times... "What can change the nature of a man?"
Adhin Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) Planescape: Torment for me. I kind of hold PST and BG2 side by side, partly because they do different things for me overall. I would adore to see PST get a make over while keeping all the content there. By that I mean higher res rendering, same engine or done same as PE (but kept same VO stuff and whatnot). Hell just the stuff BGEE is getting would make me extremely happy to get to play it in current assets at 720 16:9. Which is one of the things Trent has mentioned wanting to do after BG2, along with a BG3 game. ...so there's hope, delicious, feint hope. Edited October 18, 2012 by Adhin Def Con: kills owls dead
Piccolo Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Morrowind. Darklands and Arcanum are close runners up though. And if I could completely remove one RPG from history, it would be Skyrim.
Mrakvampire Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Baldur's Gate 2 No to experimentation! No to fixing that is not broken! No to changes for the sake of change! Do not forget basis of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment. Just put all your effort to story, fine-tuning and quality control.
Fluffle Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Project Eternity The IE Games are burned to my mind. I do not need to play them as an actual video game anymore, I can play them in my head. So I'd rather see a new IE-like experience. And wtf, I just spent a lot of bucks on it on kickstarters. >_> "Loyal Servant of His Most Fluffyness, Lord Kerfluffleupogus, Devourer of the Faithful!" *wearing the Ring of Fire Resistance* (gift from JFSOCC)
The Mist Devil Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) I keep wondering, which games does the abreviation IE refers to? bobobo878 Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I keep wondering, which games does the abreviation IE refers to? It's not a game, it's an engine used by many games. The Mist Devil Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) Ah, Infinity Engine games, gotcha. Edit: Thanks for also precising my mind at the same time bobobo. arrowhead Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) This is hard... I'd choose BG2 but it feels incomplete without BG1. I'd also miss other great RPGs. Edited October 18, 2012 by arrowhead

There is a good mod Baldur's Gate Trilogy (that combines BG with BG2) and we can basically pretend then that it's one game Edited October 18, 2012 by Mrakvampire 1 No to experimentation! mikemcdonald Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 If there was some sort of video game reliquary, and only one game could be saved, Baldur's Gate II would be my choice. And it's not even close. For the cRPG genre, or any other.
TheDave Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 BG but Morrowind and Arcanum are masterpieces I would like to "save" too.
Jarest Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 (edited) Fallout 2. If there were three more I could save from the rpg apocalypse, they would be Arcanum, Planescape: Torment and Fallout: New Vegas. Edited October 18, 2012 by Jarest 1
Jozape Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Thats a hard choice. The first that came to mind was Planescape: Torment, but I would miss BG1+2 and Ultima 7 (both parts) and a whole bunch of other games. Same. I think I would have to pick Planescape: Torment in the end, as it stands on it's own as an RPG better than Ultima 7 imo. Ultima 7 is better having experience in the Age of Enlightenment. If we rid of the Age of Enlightenment(especially Ultima 4), I don't know how much I would have loved Ultima 7.
TrashMan Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Don't know really. But BG2, ToEE, Fallout and Drakensang: RoT are defiantely my favorites.... Wait...would Jagged Alliance 2 count as a RPG? * YOU ARE A WRONGULARITY FROM WHICH NO RIGHT CAN ESCAPE! *Chuck Norris was wrong once - He thought HE made a mistake!
Aleron Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 If speaking strictly computer...I would have to say Arcanum. If I could keep a console with it...Final Fantasy 6 in a heartbeat. Always end up going back to it eventually.
RaccoonTOF Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 When mentioning "world" and "save", here's what comes to mind. Had never seen that one before...but oh so very fitting...(save for the fact that I've always been more PC than console ) "If we are alone in the universe, it sure seems like an awful waste of space"
Chabneruk Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Planescape Torment. Its just too good. But Arcanum, Deus Ex, Baldurs Gate and Gothic (1&2) are candidates as well "Was du nicht kennst, das, meinst du, soll nicht gelten? Du meinst, daß Phantasie nicht wirklich sei? Aus ihr allein erwachsen künft'ge Welten: In dem, was wir erschaffen, sind wir frei." - Michael Ende, Das Gauklermärchen
MiCkO Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Baldurs Gate 2 But I would cry my eyes out for losing Morrowind, Gothic, Fallout, etc
kenup Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 DA2, with a note reading:"Don't copy it.". Just so future generations know what to not do. I can't really choose from the good ones. 1
