The new logo is just boring and generic. There is absolutely nothing special, no creativity in it. There are just some geometric forms combined to a logo.

I liked the first one much more because it had a special look though it was not really sophisticated.

I first noticed the change on top of the forum sections (I don't really visit the kickstarter page that often). My first thought was "Nice, looks like Icewind Dales art direction".

I like the new logo, and somehow i already see in my head, how the sun in the logo shines bright and then goes into the background into bronce color and the name of the game appers in gold afterburn. I am sure that vision is stolen somewhere but I still like it :D

I like, that now I can have hope that this fantasy game may not feature another dragon on the cover and logo. I mean I have here the packages of dragon age 1, dragon age 2, skyrim and guild wars 2 on my desk (that's a coincidence) and they all feature a dragon prominently on the cover and in the games. It really gets a bit boring, don't you think?

Right you are on the dragon topic. But exchanging a boring logo with an even more boring and uncreative one isn't a really great decision either. ;)

If they are going with a D&D settings-like franchise logo/banner, with a subtitle, this design would be great.

As they finalize it, they could go even further towards something like these:

I...can't tell the difference. Anyone able to throw both up (not literally) for a compare/contrast?

New

Old

That was a sneaky change! Didn't even notice they had done it until I found this thread!

I do like dragons, but they are overused in that regard. Still hope there are dragons, but that's because I'm one of those people who love dragons a bit too much, in that when I see one the first thing that crosses my mind isn't "Lets kills it!" but "I want to jump on it's back and ride it!" Obviously, I'm not keen on dragons being the bad guys you have to slaughter wholesale, but rather ride through the air or give big hugs to... I'm weird I know.

Random thought: I'd find it hilarious to have a dragon get horrified at the sight of a PC wearing dragon scale and shout out "You're wearing Bob you bastard!!!!" or to be wearing human skin armour and call you a hypocrite when you complain (seriously think about it, if wearing human skin armour gave great bonuses would you find it acceptable to wear it? If Dragons are a sapient race is wearing their skin not horrific as well?).

Question:

@Feargus: Why was the Project Eternity logo changed? :)

Answer:

@dlux Rob worked on another logo and we stated to like the direction it was going.

Well, that is the reason it was changed.

Quite like the new logo. It's better than a generic Ouroboros, which struck me as a place holder anyway, and for some reason it invokes the feeling of the old IE games logos, the one from Baldur's Gate 2 specifically.

Of course I would like to see dragons as well, and I understand that many people think they are the strongest opponents and thus not only a great symbol for fantasy but also a good challenge for the endgame of some games. I would also like to see their wisdom and age reflected in a game rather than just their physical strength. :) (and I also want to ride one)

Thanks dlux for backgroundinfo!

Now that I see the old D&D banners, I think the new logo fits well with them. I've changed my mind. I now like the new logo better and where it's heading.

While I think the new logo is very well done and incredibly evocative of the old D&D nameplates... I like the ouroboros better. I have an ouroboros bias, though. Love them and love celtic knotwork.

Hrm. Maybe there can be both? A nameplate and a symbolic logo (even if it's not an ouroboros)?

The Celtic-style snake-like pattern in the center ring is supposed to be a representation of the ouroboros, I think. I suppose it could be called out more in contrast or something, but I do like the new semi-logo sun-like spikies--it's going to have to apply to the actual game title, that is, and I don't think "Project Eternity" should be it. :p "Ecnisse" sounds nice.

The KS Collector's Edition does not include the Collector's Book.

Which game hook brought you to Project Eternity and interests you the most?
