  1. That was a great documentary. Besides it obviously being fun to get an inside glimpse of the working of the studio I found the editing and use of music make at very enjoyable viewing experience.
  2. This doesn't fix companions losing all the stuff in their quickslots and inventory when you swap them out, does it? Or did I miss a patchnote somewhere?
  3. I'm not sure I would call a SP nerf a lose/lose and a buff a win/win. numbers creep is a serious issue for any game, that wants to expand or maybe become a series at some point (with the potential to take your old save games with you e.g.). so I'd rather prefer a singular nerf to an op/out-of-balance class or ability, than a system wide +1 to anybody else. Then there's the issue of a particularly more powerful class turning it into a "must have" for high difficulty games rather than people picking what they enjoy.
  4. Oh god, why did I read this horrible thread? It's nothing but gamergaters and people trying to defend a dumb limerick as artistic integrity. Are you actually serious? This doesn't at all represent me. My goal in backing this project was not "I want a studio I love to make something that offends SJWs". And that quote. Jesus Christ man, that quote. You know if the limerick referred to laser guns and sci fi stuff you'd have no problem with it being changed, but the moment someone gets offended, it's the death of liberty to actually listen to them. This entire situation is still messed up though - who is the change for? It's not for the GGers because apparently the most important thing to them is that this game contains content that offends minorities. It's not for the people who were actually offended because it's obviously a dig against them. Third time's the charm, right? You spelled "she" wrong. And last time I saw gators talk about Thompson they were saying how great a guy he really was. I know logically consistent arguments aren't gg's strong suit, but really. Sincerely, a backer who made Pillars of Eternity possible. Unlike you mr. sockpuppet. All these new accounts wihtout backer status coming out of the woodworks suddenly trying to give extra weight to a ****ty position ... typical gg "tactics". Sure you did, now show me evidence of Gators saying he's a great guy, typical SJW tactics, making claims they cannot back up. Do you even know what sockpuppet means? You clearly don't, go look the definition of that, just because someone made a new account on the forumm so they can debate the issue does not make them a soc-puppet anymore than all the cry babies crying "oh, won't you think about the women who get offended about pretty much anything" who have never bough or played the game, hell, they don't even play games. "All these new accounts wihtout backer status coming out of the woodworks suddenly trying to give extra weight to a ****ty position ... typical gg "tactics"." Extra weight? The majority of backers on the forum are in favor of keeping it up, only two people are against, thats~at least a 10 - 2 ratio... Funny how you dismiss other people's opinions because "they haven't backed the project", yet, this was changed because of people who don't even play games to begin with. This is the "opposition", bunch of people who can't defend their position without assuming things, acting like hypocrites and strait up lying about things that never happened. > I deem this offensive, change it or else I won't play your game, that I haven't backed, played or will ever play, because I'm not even a gamer Here you go: https://storify.com/a_man_in_black/gamergate-supports-jack-thompson The person who started this by tweeting about it, encountered the limerick while playing the game. How is she not a gamer? The person who signal boosted it, so it got picked up by geek and gamer blogs and websites, is a game developer.
  5. I didn't make the image, and technically, if the original creator chose to be politically correct which he may not have considering what passes for political correctness nowadays it would be "lady" not "she" since the original was "guy" not "he", but that's besides the point. I'll admit you are being very consistent, consistently assumptive and accusatory as to who and what I am, which is as you say typical SJW "tactics". What I expect from this thread: The Moderators will claim all of these posts criticizing the removal of the IG backers joke are OFF-TOPIC and either remove them or lock the thread despite the removal of the IG backers memorial being a part of the discussion. Besides the point yes. Didn't stop you from making it the focus of your reply. That did confirm that you are indeed no better than the whichever gg'er created that image though. So there's that. Good thing my consistency proved true, mr. sockpuppet. I really dislike the SJW label too. I've alway been more the mage/support type, so please do me the courtesy of using the "SJM" moniker when addressing me instead. Thanks. I like your unfounded preemptive parting shot about "censorship" though, must suck to constantly have your expectations fall through.

  7. Decent resolution. Good job. Good patch too. Funny to see all the internet outrage pressuring Obsidian complaining about internet outrage pressuring Obsidian. People's lack of empathy and perspective doesn't really surprise me anymore, but I do find it sad that there's apparently so many of them on these forums. Or you could not be a raging ****.
  8. I'm so happy the absurd amount of money (for me) I pledged turned out be worth it. Honestly, I had written off Obsidian after being disappointed by the unfinished and buggy KotOR II, and being frustrated by having 5 attempts to play NWN2 (the last one well after all patches had been released) stranding on progress stopping bugs at various places in the game. Great potential alone isn't enough if I'm prevented from enjoying it. So that I still shelled out quite heavily for the kickstarter is a testament to how badly I wanted Eternity to succeed, that and the hope that without corporate pressure you guys would be able to transform all that potential in a polished game. And, boy did you guys deliver. So thank you! I hope that the game sells well enough that you can self-fund whatever future plans you guys might for the Eternity (and other) IPs. But if not, don't hesitate to run another crowdfunding campaig. I'll be there day one.
  9. I'm a bit in two minds about this. While extra stretch goals would be a fun thing for the community and might be a driving force behind extra funds, I'm thinking that it might wiser to spend any extra funds on improving and expanding what's already there. That said, I'm always in favor of extra companions.
  10. This sounds great. I'm not the person that has to have a player home in a story driven RPG, but if it's there this really is the way to do it. And I love the idea of having a museum or trophy room or something to display mementos from your adventures
  11. Meh. I can't say I ever had MORE fun in a game just because it had durability, but this does seem a good way to implement it. And it gives you something to do with your ridiculously large stack of riches you accumulate in this sort of game. So I'm not against the implementation of a durability system. I'm currently making another attempt to go through the whole of NWN2 + expansions (Only had to reload once because of progress breaking bug so far! improvement over my last attempt!), which has a similar crafting system (sans durability) and I haven't used it at all so far, nor have I missed it. So, again not against it, but don't go spending a lot of development resources on this on my account.
  12. The screenshot manages to capture that Baldur's Gate feeling so perfectly. It's beautiful. Also, yey progress.
  13. I love the aesthetic of the UI. It made me nostalgic for BG the moment I saw it. So on that front goal achieved as far as I'm concerned. (And while I'm sure they're just placeholders I love that you've used the old infinity icons.) I'd like to vote firmly against a "modern" deconstructed and stylized UI. I haven't liked a single one of those in modern games. They're good for MMO's when you have heaps of chat channels and other stuff to spread around, but that's about it. At best they're out of your way and forgettable, but the IE UI's actually added to the atmosphere of the game, they were part of it. I'd also like to repeat that I love the idea and aesthetic of those "choose your action" screens, (or whatever you're calling them)!
  14. Torment fans would buy a rogue-like sequel. Dude, as long as you can get lots of text in there, Torment fans will be happy. No. No they really wouldn't be. You're really missing the point. It's like saying people who like reading will enjoy reading a dictionary, because it has a lot of words in it. But, of course, you know that perfectly well and are just trolling.
  15. This looks great. If this is the way the entire game is going to look I'll be more than satisfied. Some observations however: -The moving foliage and bushes look a bit off when you pay close attention to it. It doesn't look really windblown to me. It's too random with bushes next to each other doing opposite things. It's also a wee bit jerky. - Dynamic shadows would be great if it is possible to implement those. Especially the tree's shadow next to the campfire looks a bit weird, being static. - That bridge looked a lot better in the screenshots. With the moss and textures. Was that an intentional change? It looks so shiny and colorless now.
  16. Loving those bridge pictures. From the idea of them to the art style, everything's great about them.
  17. Good update! I have a lot of thoughts on armor mechanics in RPG's, since it's one of the things that often bothers me in games. I'll get them written out at a time I'm not falling asleep at the keyboard! G'night all!
  18. PC IS bad, games always suffer because of them. Insecurities? Nah, Just sick of these threads white knight, but your side keeps bringing them up. So I will keep responding. These threads should be closed/moved to another forum, but I think the mods like to see everybody trolling each other. You're reaching the point were I'm starting to doubt if you're serious or just playing a caricature and trolling ...
  19. That was great book. It haunted me for days. Really amazing considering nothing much actually happens in terms of action during the book itself, it all deals with the aftermath of what would normally be the "main" story. Could you describe a few? I'm pretty ignorant unless Baba Yaga counts. The Witcher books and games use a lot of Slavic mythology and monsters. Really good stuff.
  20. Your insecurities are showing. I'm actually offended that the only reasons you can come up with for other men to disagree with you and dislike ridiculous armors is because they are either prudes or disingenuous, and just trying to make good with the ladies. Not everyone is so dominated by their lizard brain as you seem to be. It's really sad that some people on here keep on insisting that consistency = PC = a bad thing.
  21. The only thing I'd feel need to note here is that, given Obsidian are far, far, from releasing all the details on the world, society (various) in it, their cultures, few or many beliefs, and so on - there is lots of information we don't have beyond that - . . . I wouldn't feel comfortable talking about what's consistent internally yet. Unless there is some sort of special physics or magical law in the PE world, that somehow completely changes how Newtonian physics work on a day to day basis, then yes, it would be inconsistent for women to go to battle in inferior armor.
  22. This "You want realism in a fantasy?! LOLOL!!" argument is really dumb and tiresome. People, or at least I, don't want realism, they want internal consistency. If you can't tell the difference between those, go read a dictionary. And yes, exactly, all classes and genders should use similar armor models. Why would it be any different? Plenty of games have that, from BG to Skyrim.
  23. But this is a civilization where women warriors, women in armor, is the norm - armor design is obviously going to be different from our world where only men were allowed to be knights...Maybe the women wanted to have stylistically different armor from the men...I mean there are women's t-shirts in our world that accentuate the form and are more comfortable - why not women's armor that does the same? The human form is beautiful, and there's nothing wrong with accentuating certain aspects of it. It's also way more fun for the artist to draw figures like that. Plate armors are designed to make blows glance off and away from the body. Boob-plates are counter productive to that. Also, taking a blow to the chest while wearing boob-plate is a good way to break your sternum, it guides all the energy from the blow to a single point instead of spreading it across the armor. I agree that the human form is beautiful, and if, for instance, the game would have prostitutes or waitresses/dancers in bars, or even a religious order for a god/goddess of love or some such I wouldn't be opposed to them wearing alluring outfits. But it really has no place in armor design, except maybe in parade armor, but that's hardly something a hardened adventurer/warrior would wear. If what Obsidian wants to create is a believable, mature, internally consistent world, then eroticized armor really has no place in it. (as do huge pauldrons, spikey bits on your elbows you poke your eyes out with if you lift your arms and other such nonsense). And anyone attributing this line of reasoning to "white knighting" is a trollish, moron of the highest order. Seriously, the things I've read in this thread ...
  24. What, europe, what? Where? That's not the europe I live in! Please tell me that's not true. First I hear about that too ...
  25. Yea, I didn't mind it in the Witcher. It fit in the Witcher's character, (he is a monster hunter for hire, he actually does stuff like that for a living) and they were completely optional, plus the story had plenty of natural pauses were it made sense for you to take time off and just wander about killing monsters to make a buck. DA:O however worked with a similar "bounty board" type of fetch quest systems, and most of them annoyed me to no end as to how poorly they were implemented.
