  1. My guess is that you're not going to get an official answer to this. For one they might not want to offend the Kickstarter people by suggesting everyone to pledge through Paypal, because they take a smaller cut. This wouldn't have happened without Kickstarter after all.
  2. I have to admit, if there's one thing I'd like to see added to the game at this points it's more companions. A Chanter would be neat, if there isn't one already.
  3. Making the game better instead of just bigger, seems like a very wise course to take at this point.
  4. Gave in and went for 250+shipping, a deck of cards and the cd for a whopping $310 total. This better be the best game ever Obsidian! No pressure.
  5. Didn't vote, cause I had a hard time distilling my exact feelings down to those poll options. But, what I'm expecting of PE is a story driven, interaction heavy experience where your choices have an impact on the outcome coupled with interesting (real-time-with-pause) tactical combat both in- and outside of dungeons with heaps of atmosphere. Nooks and crannies to explore and varied side quests are a very big plus. As to the actual mechanics: this isn't a D&D game, so if the designers feel that they can free themselves (and us) of that ruleset's restrictions and update and improve on it, then I'm happy to let them try. What I've seen so far looks promising.
  6. Actually, it doesn't. It means you have to play it in the linear order predestined by the Developers, with no hope of ever doing anything outside of that order. Now, the only way to do a level 10 quest, is to do the level 5 quests, you have no other option. It reduces choice, introduces pure linearity, reduces any reward for entering into combat, and much no sense at all. If it's anything like the BG games, there won't be something like level 10 and level 5 quests. You can go everywhere at every time, there'll be a heap of quests of comparable difficulty and some harder ones. You can do all those quests in any order you want. (except the main story quest, which obviously has an order of completion.)
  7. Nice update! Loving the health/death mechanics and the xp design! Love that the nagging feeling in the back of my head "I could be more powerful if I wasn't such a sissy roleplayer and just butchered everyone in here instead of tiptoeing around" wont be an issue.
  8. I think this pretty much sums it up, I'd rather wait for a finished, polished game, which I think is a reasonably common sentiment. Definitely.
  9. I agree. I don't need a new stretch goal past 3.5 mil. It looks like they got plenty on their plate as it is, I'd rather the extra would go to polishing and adding extra debt and breadth to the pieces already in place. (like more variety in enemies, extra dialogue options, ...)
  10. I hardly ever used contingency or wilting spells ... If they go with a tiered weapon system like DA:O, I'm going to revolt. Sorting systems in inventory would imply a list sort of inventory, which are the most horrible sort of inventories forced upon us because of consoles. Infinite stacking items don't make sense, what you can carry should be limited both by weight and the amount of space it takes up imo. Choices, Choices that's what a good RPG is about. And that woman was a moron.
  11. I sincerely hope not. It should be a proper beta of the full game. It's not a demo or a teaser, it's an integral part of development. If you don't want to be spoiled, then don't participate in the beta.
  12. I'm not a fan dark just for the sake of being dark, but I do enjoy a grim sense of realism. Most stories just don't end with a happily ever after for everyone involved. So something on the level of the Witcher, or a Joe Abercrombie's First Law books would be nice.
  13. 140+20 for shipping+20 for the expansion. I like physical things, so I'm prepared to eat the shipping charges. I'm debating whether to go for the 250 tier. That would give me a copy of wasteland 2, but more importantly a physical collectors book. Chances aren't very good I'll go through with it though. I'd need to add another 30 for shipping, making it 280 total, which really is about $230 more than I was planning to spend on all this... Still, I like books and it's for a good cause, if I just replay IE games instead of buying new games/books/DVDs till the end of the year I can make the budget work... Decisions, decisions.
  14. I hadn't read farther in the thread than that reply. And even now I have, I hadn't noticed that you stopped arguing. I don't care that you agree with me or not. People disagree on a lot of things. That was actually one of my points. What I do care about is having proper reasons for disagreeing with something and not spewing forth a bunch of barely coherent arguments based on empty speculation. Even then, if you hadn't tried to make it sound like you were speaking for everyone, I probably would've just ignored your post. If you state your opinion, you should be prepared to have it challenged. Don't worry, I'm done now.
  15. I'd rather that they not resemble one creature or another, but something actually new. I've never been much of a fan of shark, lizard and cat people and the likes ...
  16. If the real LoS solution, which I like a lot, proves unattainable for some reason, a simple console command to clear the FOW would be good.
  17. It's a freaking name of a race. If they have to poll us for our approval for every minor detail it's going to take years to get this game of the ground. Obsidian listening to our input does not mean that we get to vet every single line of lore or rendered polygon. Probably, and? Yes, my point exactly. You're flying off the handle on your own assumptions based on almost nothing. That's the very definition of "jumping to conclusions" I'd think. Your whole argument is filled with absurd strawmen, but this takes the cake. I thought you said you understood what I was saying in the first paragraph ... Guess not.
  18. I really dislike it when people like you try to speak for "us". Just because they decide to do certain things not exactly the way YOU want it doesn't mean they're not listening. There're plenty of people who completely opposite opinions and of course the developers have their own ideas too. "Listening" means striking a balance between all that. The term "gnome" comes with certain expectation about their culture, like reliance on technology and magic and such. If Orlans are culturally and physically different enough from gnomes/halflings and the likes, they are essentially something new and it makes plenty of sense to go with a new name to reflect that. The same goes for Aumaua and Ogres if it would apply, but how you jump from the description Josh gave to "they're simply Ogres renamed for sure!!" is beyond me. Also, if any romance options that would be in the game don't depict a realistic variety of sexualities I'm going to be pissed.
  19. Most NPC's are only unkillable in Skyrim because they are part of a main, or major quest. As soon as those quests are completed they are killable. (In cases were they are not, it is most often a bug or oversight on part of the developers, the Unofficial Skyrim Patch mod fixes a lot of that, and more. The mod is easily installed through steam if you don't like extra hassle.) Those unkillable flags aren't so much as to protect the NPC's from the player but from them getting killed by dragon attack and vampire attacks and such. Which is a good thing, because the NPC's sense of self-preservation is non-existant.
  20. I never missed rotating in the IE games. When you design you're backgrounds with a single POV in mind you can make sure everything is visible from that angle. No need for rotation. I'd rather have OE spend resources somewhere else than on different camera angles.
  21. I think having a truly undefeatable foe, a big sack of HP and stats you just can't overcome, in the game would be a bad idea, it doesn't work in an cRPG as well imo and would only lead to frustration. However something like the mentioned Kangaxx in BG2, some opponent or party, that requires tactics and knowledge of the game mechanics tucked away in an optional sidequest would be great, a must have even.
  22. Why do these types of polls never have an "I don't care, let Obsidian decide option"? That being said, I think Christopher Plummer would do a great job at narrating, he has that type of voice.
  23. That's why I said High Medieval era. Most generic fantasy settings use dark ages as the backdrop. But they also tend to use late medieval plate armour which actually post-dates the invention of firearms (or at least cannons). Yeah, I think plate armour was developed somewhere around the time first (primitive) firearms appeared. In any case, that generic medieval setting usually doesn't feature gunpowder, so I can see why some people would find that unusual. That's because most generic medieval settings are based on Tolkien, who's whole point was to lament the effect of technology and "progress" on western society. Gunpowder was something definitely not on his list of positives, so not something that would be featured in his world and used by his characters.
