Lexx
Dungeon Siege 3 is $15/50% off on Steam. Nice, bought Treasures of the Sun now, 5 euro can't do much wrong and when I want to replay DS3 again some fine day, I can do it with the DLC. Meshugger
Making AAA games for less - A Daniel Vavra (Mafia) rant Hell that's what I was talking about the whole time! The whole entertainment industry is run by numbers that make little sense. Lets say that Skyrim had a budget of 100 milion, marketing included. For that kind of money, you can design, build and run a hydro power plant, capabe of delivering power in terms of megawatts. All the time i hear about how complex and difficult it is to create a video game is and how much work has gone to optimising the engine and whatnot. I still haven't found out why it can be equally, or even more expensive than bigger engineering projects + they usually don't have any "crunch time" either. 2 "Some men see things as they are and say why?""I dream things that never were and say why not?"- George Bernard Shaw"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."- Friedrich Nietzsche "The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." - Some guy

So we get the annual COD, and then when someone ****s up they can just say "oh, but you can't appreciate art!". Arrogant ****. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Calax
Why do I get the feeling we're in the equivalent of the 70's era shlock fests that movies went through? (Exploitation flicks etc) games aren't dumb, but they certainly aren't an independent art. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off. Tale
70s? The 90s era of action movies was pretty bad, too. Just look at Steven Segal and Van Damme's careers. We managed to get Die Hard and Lethal Weapon, but there was a whole lot of crud trying to ride that wave. Enough so that "Die Hard on an X" became an actual pitch. Volourn
Bourne was boring. Mummy was fun. Matrix literally put me to sleep. The F&F are 'dumb' movies but at least the handful of them I watched were entertaining. Part 2 was absolute crap though. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250. I just hope you're not going to argue that pre-2000 action-based movies were some sort of highly sophisticated wonders of cinematography and screenwriting. Please, no.
