No. Its a comic style that doesn't want to be realistic in the first place. So what should we ban this artstyle? There are other examples that actually try to represent reality but fail way better for this cause. Secondly: I don't have a picture but usually light infantry troops didn't wear full torso armor and only armor to protect certain body parts. It usually depended. Romans come to mind. It just makes me laugh that gamers are so snooty about 'realism' in games, especially in terms of graphical quality. But actual realism - quite predictably - isn't at all what they want. I've just spent 30 minutes searching for armour pictures where the upper torso is covered and the stomach isn't. Couldn't find a single one. Especially not the Romans. Th eorder goes roughly: - Shield, no armour - Shield, no armour except helmet - Shield + helmet + torso - Shield + helmet + torso + increasing limb coverage as metallurgy and metalworking improves. Plus as I say, it simply makes no sense whatsoever. I don't know if youre anywhere near Oxford, but the Pitt-Rivers collection in the Natural History Museum has armour from all over the World. Right down to coconut fibre matting. Have a scout round. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. The WOW picture in question doesn't really have the upper body covered too. Just something for thos breasts which doesn't really protect.. I'm of the opinion that there's far too many female characters in games whose appearance is designed to provide "eye candy" for the player. For some incomprehensible reason, this design decision spills over to armouring where the women in question must expose as much skin as possible, yielding the porn actress look. Case in point: what Calax, Bos Hybrid and Mera posted. Bare midriff, cleavage, plate armour bikinis and the bastard offspring of a cheongsam and miniskirt. I mean if we created an "Aesthetically pleasing Male character designs" thread would you be complaining about having the NFL being posted in there? Or just male porn stars?
