mkreku Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I don't know, but I just checked and Mudeater-land got it on April 8! Time to eat my words, I guess. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Purkake Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Not sure about Mudeater land, but Source Code premiered here on the 8th. Maybe you need better cinemas in your great Sweden?
Gorgon Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Yawn, next. Been refining my sci fi list, a sort of "best of the best" thing that I would recommend to someone with too little time to watch dozens of movies: Why always A Clockwork Orange or Fahrenheit 451 on those lists. Classic.. yes, maybe.. not terribly good though. I like most everything else on there. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.

Classic.. yes, maybe.. not terribly good though. I like most everything else on there. I have a sort of mixed opinion on Kubrick with his exquisite cinematography on one hand and very literal stories on the other (barring Odyssey 2001). To be honest "A clockwork orange" is just another dystopia themed novel out of a hundred such novels in what's really a dead end genre. I put it on the list to give credit where credit is due, as a nicely shot and significant movie but my personal favorite it is not (Tarkovsky is). Kubrick's movies leave me cold. Pidesco Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 You need to see The Killing. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Walsingham Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Hold on a minute. I may want to spend a good two hours thumping Kubrick in the face with a boot over 2001, but Clockwork Orange gets better every time I see it. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Hurlshort Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I didn't mind all the naked Nicole Kidman in Eyes Wide Shut from Kubrick.
Orogun01 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Ahh Kubrick, all those fond childhood memories of mine. I gotta give it up for Paths of Glory, one of the best war films ever. I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you.
LadyCrimson Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Kubrik's films, to me, are artistically/technically masterful but emotionally they leave me flat or cold. So I admire them on the one hand, but they often bore me & I have no desire to ever watch them again. Full Metal Jacket was probably my fave of his work. I've watched a lot of movies lately, mostly playing catch-up. I won't go through them all, but I will say that Toy Story3 was pretty awesome, Alice in Wonderland disappointed me, and Centurion was a violently fun action chase flick. Oh...also...for upcoming films...I'm totally against DiCaprio as The Great Gatsby. But then, I don't particularly like DiCaprio so I'm biased. “Things are as they are. mkreku Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 He was good in Inception. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
LadyCrimson Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 lol....I don't hate DiCaprio. He's adequate in and fits certain types of roles. I just find him kind of one-note...not wooden, not that at all...but somehow kind of flat. I don't think he's appropriate for Gatsby. Just me tho. “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 And I thank you, because it made me “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts

HoonDing Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I got suckerpunched by Sucker Punch. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Raithe Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Talking of Sucker Punch... I just watched Elektra Luxx (see, segued in via Carla Gugino). A little disjointed in someways, but.. bizarely amusing in places. Pregnant porn star Elektra Luxx is trying to make a split from the adult film industry by making a living teaching sex classes to housewives. But her life is thrown into disarray when a flight attendant with ties to Elektra's past approaches her for a favor. Chaos and hilarity ensue as fiancees, private investigators, a twin sister, best selling authors and even the Virgin Mary force her to face up to an unexpected series of decisions and revelations. " Quite possibly the best actor ever. So underrated, and the sheer fact he has yet to win in Oscar for any one of a dozen movies is a travestry that proves the awards are a joke. I enjoyed Great Gatsby as a kiddie in school - both film and book - so a retelling might be cool. Been awhile, and abrely remember anything about it outside of the characetrs being interetsing but it was light on action but heavy on the drama. Volourn Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) The truth is the truth. Even in his boring movies 9Aviator) he stilla cts aesomely. Even when the material is average at best 9Romeo & Juliet remake) he still acts awesomely. Even when he is on screen with other superb actors (ala Jack Nicholson) he is still the best actor on the screen. Only a handful of actors are on his level. GreasyDogMeat Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Maybe it's just my dislike of Leonardo Dicrapio but I'm beginning to suspect Lord of Flies is Volo's alt.
