I wrote them as soon as I realized my mistake.

One nicer thing about buying it the old way, is being able to return (then again, if you somehow bought a package of games instead of one, you'll have some major issues).

You have already written, but I would suggest pointing out that you have a good relationship with STEAM, and that it would be a mistake to let a few chance mouse clicks ruin it.

You sound like mkreku is having problems with his girlfriend.

Yeah, this is more important.

I dunno.

Steam eats 100€: GODDAMMIT!

GF eats 100€: Hey, I got off easy this time!

In before someone comes up with something using words girfriend, 100€ and getting off.

Oh. My. God.

I was very tired last night and saw Knights of the Old Republic for €2.25 and thought, "I own that but it would be nice to be able to install it from anywhere" and proceeded to buy it. I clicked on the game, clicked on the bottom green button and clicked OK on the purchase page.

A few minutes ago I checked my Steam game list and noticed I now own every Star Wars game ever released (almost)!! I accidentally clicked on a Star Wars pack ON THE SAME PAGE as that stupid KotOR game, and it sure as hell didn't cost €2.25. No, try €89.95!!

I want a refund.

Haha, I was wondering why you suddenly had the entire SW collection ..

I bought 6x Alien Versus Predator for 30€ and gave it to 5 friends - the SP game is stupid but multiplayer is awesome.

If you are an EU lover, you can find all the versions from EU (0.89 euro), EU II (3.00) and the following titles at gamersgate this week.

Very interesting if you have an old PC and wants to find very good strategy games a bit dated.

I love Steam, but I hear it's evil and a monopoly that will devour all digital distribution and send brick-and-mortar businesses out of business.

But those brick-and-mortar establishments have been mean to me for years. The last time I went into a video game store, they told me I couldn't pre-order a PC game. They'd get a shipment in (they didn't say how many) and I'd have to come in and hope I got a copy.

And Steam lets me back-up my games if I want a hard copy. And after I authorize my game I can play off-line. They have lots of sales, and their friends grouping lets me set up games of L4D2.

This is worse than when I found out Google was evil.

Evil should be like Microsoft: Annoying, buggy, inconvenient, and behind the curve!

Steam's not 'evil' because of all that tosh, it's clear as day by its own actions that it wants to be monopoly/market leader and lock people in to their service by whatever means possible.

At least brick and mortar stores didn't force me to join their loyalty programs or something. I'm just glad the offline mode seems to work reasonably well after years of, well, not.

You just described every corporation at any time beginning with the Dutch East Indies company.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Well corporations are evil. As for Google being evil, well wait a bit longer.

Threshold crossed long ago. In my mind, Messrs Page, Brin, Zuckerberg and indeed St. Eve of Jobs are much more terrifying than the sometimes mystifying, oftentimes amusing missteps of loose cannon Ballmer's Microsoft.

Hopefully Wikileaks has some good dirt on them.

The international relations leaks don't really interest me all that much since it's fairly predictable and reactions tend to go along national lines. I'd be more interested in stuff like Sony's peddling of Blu-ray, Microsoft trying to ram through OOXML as a 'standard,' Google's drive-by Wi-Fi ninja acts, what Apple really knows about the goings on at Foxconn, Facebook's 'accidental' privacy settings slipups, etc.

Another area I'd like to see more happen in is pro sports. I'm loving the drama going on with the federal investigation into the Pharmstrong cash-cow even with the limited public information for example (hoping he crashes and burns like Marion Jones). Some decent leaks would be manna from heaven. Would love to see more on the corrupt FIFA bidding processes, what the Australian Institute of Sport's program is *really* about, and the more obvious things like match fixing, drug testing and the like.

Unless you want to get a discount at their store. Ever. Usually only on used games.

I'm not aware of any loyalty schemes of that nature operating here (in video game retailing, supermarket loyalty card discounts and similar, sure). Almost all deals are available to any and everyone.

I know that both Gamestop in the US and Game in the UK have loyalty programs.

http://www.poweruprewards.com/ This is actually a new system. They used to have an old system. Came with a Game Informer subscription! Bonus credit on trade-ins!

I'm not sure where "here" is in your case.
