Gfted1 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 But Blizzard aren't that special... Maybe they are? Mkreku had a great post a while back about his experience beta testing for Blizzard where he stated that their Beta builds were like other companies Gold + 2 patches. Maybe they are better, with a much tighter QA department and a bottomless pit full of zots. Maybe they just care more about their products. Have you every purchased a bug riddled Blizzard game like the crap other companies pump out and then shrug their shoulders over? "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"

Have you every purchased a bug riddled Blizzard game like the crap other companies pump out and then shrug their shoulders over? Of course their QA is superb, but you'd think that after five years companies would notice that to compete they will need the same level of testing and QA as Blizzard. EA has a lot more money/resources than Blizzard, they could do it, but for some reason they haven't yet. The money-making potential is through the roof and it would be nice if someone shook the MMO space a little. Edited June 11, 2009 by Purkake
Morgoth Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 I trust Bioware that they're doing a lot of things right, meaning that TOR should have at least 500k subscribers steadily. Otherwise, if you're looking for a real shake-up in the MMO spectrum, I guess Blizzard will be the only ones achieving that. After all, they work on a MMO that will be unlike WOW. Rain makes everything better.

The next Blizzard MMO is probably going to shake things up nicely. It's just sad that everyone else keeps falling on their face over and over again. We have reached a point where everyone is tired of even talking about WoW.

Have you every purchased a bug riddled Blizzard game like the crap other companies pump out and then shrug their shoulders over? That is the reason why people love Blizzard's game, even while everyone knows, that they have shallow stories and mediocre originality... The only game from blizzard that ever crashed on my PC was WoW after patch 3.0.1 and WotLK going live... Actualy about the stability the WotLK was first Blizzards game that failed (dont know about situation on NA servers, but on EU 3 month after release there was horrible instance lag and after 19.00 in-game time, you were unable to zone into any instances for 5-30 minutes... That was the time where WoW lost most of the subscribers, from which many came back again after Ulduar was released... The only other games which i had never problems was Square Enix games, but i am not much console gamer, so i do not know if console QA is much better than PC... It wasnt that way in North America afaik but I can only speak for the 4-5 servers Ive created toons on. The worst thing that happens to me is about 2-3 times a month I will inexplicably get "Disconnected from the server" and have to relog. I mean, of course I too sometimes get lag, especially in a pitched WG battle but besides that its smooth sailing. Blizzard is golden in my book. Every single game Ive ever purchased from them (Diablo, Diablo II, LoD, WoW + all expansions) has been flawless right out of the box. I cant say the same for anyone else. Aristes Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I still think Dalaran is a pain. Yeah, WoW ain't perfect, but it's pretty damned stable, especially in view of the scale. I have a lot of respect for Blizzard. They make games I like to play. However, I would like to ditch WoW for something better on the MMO side, but there really isn't much chance. I'm still weighing LotRO, but I've been doing that for a while. Someday. I still hope we get a good modern spy/paranormal. That would be wonderful.

Same for me, except WotLK, which was to easy mode for me and i lost half of my hairs due to the insane EU lag at evenings... so i cancelled and atm only waiting for Starcraft 2... The WoD MMO has a lot of potential, but I don't even know if development on that has started. There's also room for FAIL on the scale of SWG and The Matrix Online... - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

taks Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 i would think he'd be referring to SoZ, but in any case, the fact that obsidian did not develop MoW is immaterial to the point: commercial expansions/add-ons were still being made/released (MoW is older than SoZ, oddly) for NWN up till very recently. taks comrade taks... just because.

Volourn Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 The fact that Atari let MOW be released shows the game, to them, is profitable. But, hey, how is Atari's BG3 where you can see the fear in the orc's eyes coming? How is that KOTOR3 non MMORPG coming? R00fles! NWN franchise is far from dead, and the fact that they're actually thinking of making NWN into a full fledge MMO goes to show that they believe in NWN's name value.. though, I think it won't be super successful, anyways. So, NWN like KOTOR is not really dead. Unlike, apparantly and sadly, BG. And, Fo was reborn and is now stronger than IT EVER WAS. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

Cl_Flushentityhero Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 IMO, the appeal was always the singleplayer AND the free multi. To make it an MMO is to remove both aspects.

Agreed, to me, no matter who the developer for the MMO version, it's a stupid business decision. Why would people pay for something they got for free previously? Especially during a severe recession. But do we expect Atari to do anything but FAIL?
213374U Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Why would people pay for something they got for free previously? So NWN offered server maintenance, fulltime DM staff, constant development, testing and addition of new content, event organization etc "for free" before?
