TwinkieGorilla
How about Mark Morgan and some seriously fitting and original soundtrack? or how about Inon Zur and some tacky, sentimental, fantasy-sounding pap? oh wait. hopw roewur ne?
Talonfire
Hi guyz! here we go again But, unlike last time, the company making the Fallout game is actually competent and has released good products. Well to be fair, Fallout 3 was a very enjoyable game - at least in my opinion. It's not as good as the first two, and certainly has its fair share of problems, but I still found it to be a great game. The main quest had awful pacing and writing in places, but there were a lot of entertaining side quests. There was also a great amount of effort placed into detail, especially inside of structures. If you paid attention there were a lot of stories to be found.
Slowtrain
If you paid attention there were a lot of stories to be found. AS far as I could tell, all the stories were pretty much utterly devoid of significant consequences. Other than "OMG thank you Wasteland Ranger! Here, have a handful of caps and this old gun." Typical Bethesda. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that. TwinkieGorilla
yeah. Fallout 3 in a nutshell: get quest. wander around. dungeon crawl. walk into place #17. find same crap as places #1-#16. find safe full of similar useless crap and/or bobblehead. repeat ad-nauseum. hopw roewur ne? Jaesun
Well, my personal boycott of Bethesda/Zenimax may have to finally be broken. I might actually purchase one of their products now. I just hope I don't have to buy Fallout 3 for this. I still refuse to play/buy that game. Rostere
How about Mark Morgan and some seriously fitting and original soundtrack? That is exactly the first thing I thought of! Seriously, I had been thinking that maybe the new unannounced product was an "outsourced" Fallout sequel/ spinoff. But this being some kind of financial crisis and all I thought someone might have called upon even darker powers and ressurrected the Baldur's Gate franchise or something like that. I wish Obsidian good luck on their new project . I didn't think Fallout was a very very exciting game, but the art style from the older Fallouts was definitely there. Obsidian has a great opportunity to score a big hit, I think Well to be fair, Fallout 3 was a very enjoyable game - at least in my opinion. However, when I played the game I found it hard to relate to that in any way, I didn't really know what to think when the plot was utter cack and all the fun was in the very small things. It felt almost like you didn't play the game for the game itself. Edited April 20, 2009 by Rostere "Well, overkill is my middle name. And my last name. And all of my other names as well!" Slowtrain
I'm thinking of the wordless pre-war stories, such as a skeletal corpse lying in a tub with nuka cola bottles surrounding it. Epic death right there. Yep, there was some good detail to some of those scenes, I agree. After awhuile it became fairly reptitive though. Also, there were some POTENTIALLY interesting stories to be found. Big Town, Vance's little group vampires, these things had potential beyond a simple fed ex quest, but Bethesda doesn't seem to like being bothered with developing a story and making it worthwhile. They just take the easy way out. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. Here are most games: Move Aim, Shoot, Move, Aim, Shoot, Move, Open Door Accelerate and turn, de-accelerate and turn Click, click, click, click, click. Games are what you make out of them. Fallout follows this path: Wander, wander, shoot in turn, wander, wander, talk to stranger, get quest, wander, wander, shoot in turn. yeah but what it has in comparison to 3 is a story, dialogue, and consequences to your choices. i started off pretty impressed with FO3 until i realized that at level 10 i had a superman so there went the usefulness of the SPECIAL system and every single area was the same vapid, pointless albeit beautifully designed little dungeon crawl. the game is pretty "boobs" when it comes to wandering around and looking at stuff. but how long can a non-Bethesda fan stay entertained with that? not long.
