  1. I didn't fund Deadfire as I don't have the time to play games as much, so when I do, I'll make sure it's once The Expansions have been released and it has been patched. I don't want to deal with bugs anymore, or figure out mods also. But I'm only one person, my $30 wouldn't have made much difference.
  2. Of course, it was necessary on the Hardest difficulty and advisable on Hard. Before a battle looking at what Oils, bombs, Signs and type of attacks to use made a huge difference and gave Tactics to what is effectively a Hack and slash otherwise. Do you think many people playing PoE would have multiple sets of armour they'd switch between for each character, or weapons or equipment? I can't imagine so. So you'd use the same equipment, but upgrade to Fine or Exceptional along the way, and try to use the Abilities and spells at the time but not change anything much before a battle. You might change something before Dragon battles though. If before entering area you knew the type of combat you would be facing you could rest picking the correct rest bonuses {Perception for crits over Might raw damage), eating food (that last longer), replacing enchantments (if made easier as I want). Another problem is very limited resources to enchant, only a few decent items of each type, so once you've used up the rare resource to enchant on the rare decent items, you are stuck with it. You are right about Durgan's Battery, or the entirety of White March 1. I've just finished White March 1 and that is what brought it to my attention, that I hadn't noticed it before and that I couldn't do much about it. Most of my weapons were already enchanted with bonuses to Beasts or Kith. Map scouting would be helpful if you could see further in Scout mode, then back up to equip appropriately, if you could change items easily. Are you happy with how PoE did it? I didn't think it was too bad, just needs refinement. Which is great, but what can you do about it? Rest with different bonus, pick different Grimoires for Wizards, perhaps consume some food or potions, which is definitely good. I think my main desire reading your post is being able to re-enhance items differently or at least have better resources to build your own weapons without being stuck to 3 1 to 3 enchantments (2 to 4 with Durgan Steel).
  3. In PoE, unless you've read a Walkthrough or you have already played the game, you don't know what kind of enemies you will encounter in the next area you explore. So your characters carry around a chest filled with 107 weapons, 23 suits of armor, 2310 potions/scrolls/traps that you could use at any time. Which I feel misses an opportunity. As such, I'd like PoE 2 to offer the ability to ask locals, read notices or hire a scout that can give you information on an area well before you visit so you can pick the appropriate weapons, carry the necessary potions and load in the optimal spells. I'd love for equipment to allow for the bonuses to be changed at certain locations, that way you could choose to Enchant the equipment to allow you to cut through the mass enemies at that site, or be more effective against the few powerful leaders there. I've read the goal by the developers is to make the combat less of a filler and more interesting and I think arriving at a town, talking with the locals find out the area you are going to explore is filled with strong but dim witted Ogres, but lead by a clever Spirit. At the moment, I think most people use the same equipment most of the time. I like in the Witcher you could chat to people to get information about a Contract, Use a Bestiary to gain information on those creatures and then apply an oil to give an advantage before entering an area, same weapon, but correct oils give significant benefits. Instead of ripping off The Witcher, why not allow for replaceable Enchantments?
  4. I assume you're a man, if you're a woman, do this to your boyfriend. Or find a man if you're lesbian. Hit yourself in the groin with a hammer, then hit yourself in the stomach with a hammer. Observe the difference. Or stream the experiment live, for posteriority. The descriptions were a big part of making the game awesome. Most likely, you get shot in the balls, they are coming off. As such so would the huge amount of nerve endings attached that make damage to them so painful. So no different to losing a finger in pain regard. As to using a hammer, WTH? Why would I do that, WHY??? Ahem, I know what would hurt more. The comedy side is undeniable though, just not necessary in the next game.
  5. Because you might lose your manhood? I'll choose the stomach wound every time. Hey, if I HAD to choose, it would be the stomach too. However we are assuming we live afterwards right? Otherwise what does it matter wear you get shot, if it's followed by several others spread over the body? The only decision to factor in when shooting the other person should be how to get them to drop the quickest. Assuming you are in the middle of a gun fight, taking the extra time to aim for a groin seems a bit silly. Shoot them in the stomach, it hurts a lot, easier to hit, potential to hit major organs and/or veins and tears muscles that give body support. Shooting in the groin seems like an extra challenge for less reward. Unless you are sadistic and like doing that to folks, it seems unnecessary to me.
  6. Hey suggestions: Don't care for groin or eye shot, seems very unnecessary. Why would being shot in the groin be more painful then being shot in the stomach? If you are shot in the forehead, is it really not that bad compared to being shot in the eye? Motorcycle would be really fun, make it destructible though. Didn't the BoS in Tactics have multiple Vehicles? Also Fallout 2 showed plenty of scrap, I know most would have corroded beyond effective use but surely someone has a running vehicle other than the BoS and the Enclave. Also if this is 200 years after the bombs and people have setup a community, can we not have scraps of paper on the ground and boulders in the middle of the road? The road may not have recently been tar-mac but surely people might move debris away from their footpaths? Do all homes need empty cans and rotten goods lying around? -edit- Can we push Karma to the background, instead of having it pop up after every action? Guns that don't wear down so quickly, but still could require maintenance... cleaning, oiling and when necessary replacing parts. Just not after 20 shots.
  7. Thanks for the heads up, just order it. I was bitter that to buy it I had to buy HL2 and Episode 1 again, so I never bought it. Now it's at a extremely low price... I'm buying it. Guys, if you don't own HL2, you gotta buy it!
  8. 6/1/10? That seems suspect. Before I looked I knew that the 6th is the first Wednesday in the year, I'm assuming it's d/m/yy. If so then they've just set it to the earliest possible release date in 2010. If it's m/d/yy then no idea why they picked that date, a closer date to half a year would be 7/1/10. They don't know anymore than us, so it's just a guess date. Infinitely??? Wow, that's well vast... beyond any scope. That must have been the most annoying comment ever and to be.
  9. I'd guess in a post apocalyptic world, rules around 'the right of way' would change.
  10. Gizmo and CrashGirl, your assessments of Oblivion seemed pretty good to me. However I prefer the 'learn by doing method' rather than XP points. Oblivion could have improved upon how it was implemented, but that was more of balancing which mods have done. I guess that Fallout:NV will stick to XP, which is fine for more. But most RPG's do that and I kinda like changes.
  11. Well, it's definitely a huge improvement over Oblivion and I'm enjoying it well enough. The vampire quest was great fun, for example. However, it still has huge issues that go a long way to mar my compliments of the game. The combat, the rules system and the shoddy writing really take a lot from the game's quality. And as I'm playing it on the PC, the GUI is really awful and it's shocking that Bethesda pulled the same stuff with the GUI that they did with Oblivion. I read an interview with Todd Howard in which he was asked (a year after Oblivion was released, I believe) if he could have implemented one of the users modifications what would it be. He said (get this) the GUI improvement mod. Why oh why did he repeat if for Fallout 3, if he singled it out as the biggest flaw that was fixed by the community? Strange man. I would also like to say that I think Fallout 3 address some technical/gameplay faults that Oblivion had, but the style is almost the same. I liked Oblivion despite the gameplay flaws, and thanks to the fantastic community, most of the flaws were removed. As a result Oblivion (with mods) is one of the best games I've played, without mods it's pretty good.
  12. Does quantity of sales dictate quality? No Does the fact a product maybe ported to an additional system dictate quality? No Does the fact that additional content made and sold after initial release dictate quality? No Does quantity of sales for additional content dictate quality? No Does the reviews by critics dictate quality? No Does the opinions of the masses dictate quality? No Does the fact people are still using it years after release dictate quality? No Does the fact that huge amounts modifications used and shared by millions dictate quality? No What dictates quality? My opinion, naa na! Whatever I say is good, is good. Whatever I say is rubbish, is rubbish. Coconut is rubbish, all those people that like it are weird!!! Isn't that right CrashGirl?
  13. I still am refusing to buy/play it. It's such an awful Fallout. Here is a great review that *surprise surprise* actually recommends it. If you are looking for a Fallout game, and are a fan, this is just not it. But, I have a feeling New Vegas will be billed as an "expansion": so thus we would need to buy it. :/ That quote from Rob could have just been a typo though. I'll wait for an official announcement. I was always thought that review was condescending, it made some good points but then ruined it with childish remarks. I read that as soon as it was released and it's the only review I remember for Fallout 3. We don't know how it is going to be released exactly, but it will be to PC, XBox 360 and PS3. As it is going to the PS3 it makes me believe this game will not require the original game but can be played stand alone on all formats.
  14. I've heard we will, one is a Ghoul and the other is a Super Mutant.
  15. Yeah it's silly, the oversights can be bugging indeed. I still find it funny that the basic necessaries for humans to live, isn't available to them, yet people are still thriving... kinda.
  16. Hey guys do you know what would be great? Thinking before posting, yeah. Why is it being pointed out that skeletons shouldn't remain intact, computers shouldn't work and power shouldn't be available as if Bethesda failed when creating Fallout 3. Who doesn't think it's possible to create a list of 30 things unrealistic in Fallout 1 and then a completely separate list for Fallout 2? I also find many things annoying in Fallout 3, but can we not make out Bethesda are villains for carrying on a trend started well before they did. I'd love to see realism mixed with fantasy. I'd really love to see these human communities in this post-apocalyptic world surviving and trying to thrive, while having to deal with a harsh environment. Having scorpions wander around makes it play more like a computer game, but finding a colony of scorpions and having the chance to wipe them out will give it a much more authentic feel. Why? Well if you had a community of people trying to survive but the people were slowly being picked off, don't you think they'd work together to destroy that colony... of course. Humans have wiped out many predators in the past and I'm sure they'd do it again.
  17. Hey I love the Violin playing in Fallout 3, so beautiful to play in a desolate place.
  18. This is true, but Obsidian developers have been doing research for a couple of months, whatever that means... probably going to Las Vegas to get drunk and gamble all their wages away.
  19. You're right, who would do that? -Whistles quietly- Okay so I like pixel bewbs, don't judge me! Actually by that stage I only wanted to see who was the better chick, the non-mage one was such a whiner that I chose the mage chick. So I'm glad I did it. As I was in a very similar real life situation to that. Minus the magic, monsters, fighting, enhanced physical abilities and the kid, but almost identical situation to me.
  20. As long as there are hints that what you are going to do could get you killed then I think you are right. I'd hate for a dialogue option to be: Game: Pick left or right. Player: Erm, Right. Game: You died. Player: What??? You piece of s*&$! Those old fantasty books where you rolled a die at certain points to determine the outcome were full of those situations. Plus some older cRPG's had them a lot, thankfully not so much now. I don't mind dying from the choice, just that the possible outcome is clear before making the choice.
  21. Second play-throughs are okay, but sometimes you can be playing a goody two-shoes and you see an option to say something or do something 'evil' but also very funny. How can you resist??? Hey aren't PnP games based off of the old model playing games, where people would have soldiers on either side battling it out? I think how you play the game is up to you, I've done the mutlple quick saves and quick load approaches, and I've tried the no-reload challenges. They both have their merits but I don't see why any bickering is needed over which is better. However quite a lot of games have a play style where you are almost likely to die on a first play through, or are even expected to die, so they give you lives. Trying a no-reload approach can get frustrating with these, as you can die from a dialogue choice, or walking in a particular spot with no warning to the player.
  22. You shouldn't bother, you are obviously immature. Mkreku, this person is obviously a baiter ignore the posts. -edit- Or budgie smugglers.
  23. Please, they have either chosen not to or are unable to support the kind of fidelity required to even contend. The environments are fairly good but everything else sucks. I am concerned that Obsidian will be forced into producing the same kind of low quality character artwork that Bethseda produce for their games due to engine "limitations". Could you please explain what is bad about it, breaking it down for me? I don't see it as a bad engine at all, in fact I think it is very fantastic. Could you please tell me about a better engine that actually does what Bethesda couldn't do and show examples. Reason I ask is that I think you are just bashing Bethesda anyway possible without given real examples.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda games are recorded as the most modded games by any developer. Their editors are fantastic and their games work fantastic with multiple mods, as long as the right steps are followed. The level loading times for Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3 are amazing considering it loads into a massive open world. Compare the loading times to NWN 2 and The Witcher. Their tech isn't bad at all, they've had problems I know but their games have often set the bar on what other games have to achieve. Can people remember how much fuss was made over the game engine/graphics when Morrowind and Oblivion were released?
