This is probably my biggest hype trailer of the show. They went wild with the gameplay change. I sort of expected the brother to be the PC in the sequel, but not the gameplay shift.

Yeah, we'll see how they will fare with current not the most positive climate for gaming. Some good RPG Star Wars game is long overdue.

Heh, I doubt it. My guess is that they went through a list of common complaints (graphic is crap, VO amatourish, story crap) and attempt to address those 2nd time around. Let's be honest, is still doesn't look like a decent budget production. 

Still, I quite liked how "old school" Solasta1 felt, and I wonder how the sequel with end up. I really didn't care for the demo, while Solasta1 crowdfunding build made me a backer. I just hope that the more interesting aspects of Solasta won't get sanded off in pursuit of nicer presentation.

Sadly, there isn't much of anything for me in these latest reveals from the Game Awards. Oh, well. Another year waiting on a good game for me. At least Solasta II is looking good, and I'll eventually get around to trying Avowed.

At first I just couldn't get past the 20+ years old look of the game, and especially how the UIs look and function, but then I learned that it uses 3.5e rules, so I've now added it to my Steam wishlist. For some reason I was certain it was a 2e game.

It can be as many or as few as you want/need. 3 is very standard, can be four can be two or one. Probably more, but can't think of an example. For a symphony orchestra 1 piccolo flute, and two concert flutes are a pretty regular sight. 

Different compositions may call for a variety of of flutes and sometimes doubling may be required (multiple instruments playing the same part for balance reasons, though if the performance uses amplification that shouldn't be of a concern as things can be balanced by an audio engineer.)

If you have pieces that call for a very unusual instrument, you might have a specialist who will play just that instrument when needed, and a more conventional flute section for the rest.

It's the only good thing about the game, if one likes the 3(.5)E ruleset: ToEE combat is quite the faithful implementation of the tabletop combat system.

The writing's also an absolute highlight. I very much recommend trying the opening vignettes for the neutral and chaotic evil parties, they might just be the best way to start off with an evil party in a game ever made. Because nothing tells you how EVUL your group is like burning churches for no reason or casually butchering peasants.

As for burning churches and butchering peasants, I'll take a hard pass on that. I play RPGs specifically so I can be the good hero who punishes the bad guys. It is literally impossible for me to kill innocents, even though I know they're just 1's and 0's.

A new Kotor type game might be interesting. Let's see - "maybe" 2030? I'll be, what, 63ish (or 62ish?)? By then I might even have built a new PC! 

Most of those trailers do nothing for me, as usual. All I do anymore is look at the $20-$40 indie/small dev types where I feel I can still find games with gameplay mechanics I actually like.  I'm beginning to loosen my notion of wanting to wait/how long to wait re: early-access. If it's cheap enough, screw it. I'll go back to the "if I initially get 30-50+ hrs out of it, good enough" mentality.
