BruceVC Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I am looking for some advice on what I should play next, I am undecided because I had such an incredible gaming experience with both Pathfinder games Anyway these are my 4 choices at the moment Project Zomboid : I haven't played a Zombie apocalypse for ages and this has always looked good BG3: Probably the greatest RPG of all time, only thing stopping me is its a party based RPG and I like to have breaks around genres Cyb2077 : I have wanted to play this game for ages and its definitely stable Fallout 4 GOTY : I only played this game once and it wasn't GOTY and I have been watching the Fallout TV series and I am excited to visit the Wasteland again "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead" - Nelson Mandela
Lexx Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Project Zomboid is a sandbox survival game without story. So keep that in mind. BG3 - you will need at least 130 hours of free time for this one. Cyberpunk 2077 - more casual shooter-y than rpg, imo. Fo4 - belongs into the trash. 2 1 "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
Bartimaeus Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I got a hankering to roll up a sorceress in Diablo 2, and I saw that Diablo 2 Resurrected was coincidentally on sale for $13, so I decided to buy it. I decided to buy it, but it doesn't seem like my decision was meant to be, for every which way I attempt to purchase it from Blizzard - be it in the Battle.net game launcher, Firefox, Chrome, both PayPal and card - Blizzard refuses to accept my money, and I just get stuck in an error 500 loop. I don't quite understand: I suppose it must be the universe telling me not to spend $13 on an ancient game I already bought a few times 20 years ago. Quote Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved - indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

I realize there is no narrative or narrative end to it but what are the mechanics and design features you like about it? The reason Im including Zomboid is its always good to have a break from the same genre and I havent played a sandbox survival for years so Im thinking of Rust or Zomboid I will play it until I get bored and then go back to SP games "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Lexx Posted June 30 Posted June 30 I've played hundreds of hours of Zomboid and made some very popular mods for it as well. Got burned out later because the community sucks ass and I just didn't want to deal with it anymore. Game is ok. Imagine The Sims but there's zombies around you. One day you'll do some farming, next day you beat some Zs and on the third day you'll wash your clothes. It's kinda like that. 2 "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
Malcador Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Think I am done with Door Kickers 2, not a fan of the CIA squad and the Nowheraki (great name, better than Carbombya, I guess) SWAT are such trash it's tedious. rjshae Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Now that Lex Imperialis is out, I'm going in for a replay of Rogue Trader. I was going to hold off until the hot fix patch storm eased up a bit, but what the hey? The mass of special abilities are still as obtuse as ever, making me wonder how much of those have they actually verified. 1 "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."
melkathi Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) Shouldn't Lexx be the one we force to play Lex Imperialis? Edited July 1 by melkathi 2 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

melkathi Posted July 1 Posted July 1 No, survival crafting games seem too much like work. Also it is labeled survival horror, which may make me forever stay away from beaches. That would be a shame living in Greece 2 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

We spoke about it and I think it was an underwater game? It was similar to Sunless Seas\Skies Edited July 1 by BruceVC "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. melkathi Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I played Dredge, which is safely above water and has a fixed map. Sunless Sea looks fun but I didn't give it the chance it probably deserves. I want to try Diluvion and I want to try Submerged when it comes to water games. But in general I am scared of the water in first person games like Elder Scrolls, because I always fear a sea monster will eat me. I blame Donald Duck (there was a comic panel where he is about to jump into a swimming pool and finds it filled with fish holding knives and forks, ready to eat him), a book I had in kindergarten about dinosaurs, that involved sea dinosaurs, and monster-in-my-pocket (specifically the Hanivar?) Also my rampant imagination. I mean, what proof do you have that someone can't animate the lines drawn at the bottom of the pool, and turn them into Hammerhead sharks? 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

Yes Dredge, thats it I am also considering an RNG game which is why I asking and it looked good I love the sea and swimming in the sea but not the dark, dark depths where who knows what creatures dwell waiting to gobble you up !!! melkathi Posted July 1 Posted July 1 There is no random in Dredge, but you will enjoy it. 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
Zoraptor Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Dredge is a fine game made by a fine people. I have been playing Bioshock /2. Didn't really like either of them when I first played them but I have obviously mellowed in my expectations- System Shock 3, essentially- over time since I have enjoyed both. Still reckon Bioshock has the best art direction of any game I've played though its level design makes zero sense from a practical standpoint and while flawed if you spend too much time on them the stories are great. The gameplay is... there? Adequate? OK? Haven't been enthused, haven't got tired of it. I always wished stealth and care was a more realistic approach in them though. And of course for a Big Daddy Delta is as tough as a wet paper bag compared to the meatbag of the first game. 1
BruceVC Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I have good news, I have decided what Im going to buy and play next Dredge, Darkwood and then Cyb2077 1 "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. melkathi Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I should have years ago started convincing people to leave reviews on games "Melkathi suggested I should buy this game - so I did." Just to make devs wonder "Melkathi, melkathi who tf is melkathi?" and maybe even do a Smokie cover. Though we aren't at the 24 year mark yet, so you are spared. Oh, I don't know why he's posting, or how off topic this is gonna go, I guess he's got his reasons, but I just don't want to know Imagine getting spammed for 24 years by melkathi 3 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

Think about it " The BruceVC and Melkie game rating system" The real consideration is are you prepared for all that fame and prestige ? It will boost Forkcat global interest but being a highly respected game reviewer is not for everyone ....so just think about 1 "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Great whites, on the other hand, will bite you in half. When I swim in the ocean and I get separated from my group, every time my hand passes in front of my eyes on the downstroke, I get freaked out. What was that?!? Oh it's just my hand. There it is again!?! Oh, still my hand. 2
