LadyCrimson Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Yup. 1 “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
LadyCrimson Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Also, on a lighter note - it's not an actual song/music, but it did make me smile. 2 “Things are as they are. Malcador Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Shame they did so much H Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
LadyCrimson Posted January 29 Posted January 29 (edited) Wait, wtf. Hm. Well the band does great, but as much as I love Rick, I thought he was only "ok". But as a tribute it works. Love the mike twirling at 3:18. This somehow led me to a Justin Hawkins interview with Rick, which was one of the better long interviews I've seen. Two people talking their trade like old buddies. I didn't even FFWD. Which then led me to "who is Justin Hawkins, apparently he's famous" and some early vids/songs of the band The Darkness. Which was fine, just not my kind of music etc. Which led me to a more recent The Darkness song, which I liked somewhat better, but mostly because at 1:38, ok, that was fire. Both vocally and the wind machine hair. >.> Edit: oh, the final moments at end of the below video is maybe NSFW. Nothing bad in this day/age, but just saying. rjshae Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Blowing what's left of my right mind "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."
rjshae Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Pretty cool shamanism f/x 1 "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."
Gorth Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Because you can never have too much Hansi... “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
LadyCrimson Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I found my new/current "planet exploration" mellow vibe song. I guess people call this "B1" bass. Lots of good ones out there. I like Avi's higher register songs too, but yeah. B1 and the composition. Love it. “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) 1: Nothing beats the original for me, but on the other hand, I also like many cover versions. Probably because, y'know, it's such a great song. So, not bad, Joe, not bad. 2: Every time I see Rick Allen (the drummer) is still doing his thing, I still get a little emotional. 3: *thinks about that "Photograph" video* - dangit, I guess we all got old. The music doesn't tho. Rock on. Edited February 23 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson Posted February 27 Posted February 27 (edited) Perhaps ... after David Byrne ... the 2nd best dance moves of all time? I remember the song being on the radio a lot. He had a string of radio-popular hits in the 70's and early 80's, I think. Back then I couldn't tell you his name but I sure did hear his songs. This is the one I really remember. It was played tons on "soft rock/easy listening" stations into the early 80's. When I was in a sappy pre-teen mood, it was perfect. More Than I Can Say was in the same vein and possibly a bit more popular. I think I heard both 100's of times. lol. Edited February 27 by LadyCrimson 2 “Things are as they are. One of my all-time favourites. Listened to my Best of ... CD just last week. Thanks for the videos. Though I listen to my CDs often, I've not seen these videos since the early 80s. Nice trip down nostalgia lane. Edited February 27 by kanisatha

Just had radio stations on 8 hrs a day in those days where they'd play hits over and over every hour or two. So a lot of those songs are lodged in my memory. This round of music nostalgia searching had me discovering he sang this song, too. I used to love this song, had no idea it was the same person as those others. Neat. 1 “Things are as they are. And on the other side of the world as a teenager, I also used to have my radio always on and tuned to the English Service of the one and only radio station for the whole country. And they also played Leo Sayer, among many others, all the time. I love this song as well. Another of my favourites is Orchard Road. If you're interested in getting a Leo Sayer album, get "All the Best." It has all of his top hits in it. Edited Friday at 04:28 PM by kanisatha
