For short term it may help prevent ruble from crashing, but it means that Russia loses it main source of foreign currency, which would mean that their economy has higher risk to crash if they in any point lose their energy export. It also increase volatility of their foreign trade as they have less foreign currency to use in case ruble's value drops in some point.

If you're a Swedish citizen, or if you are a resident in Sweden ( @Pidesco In case you don't know this ), between 16 and 70, it's your duty to take part of our total defence if war comes. Conscription for Swedish citizens 18-48. Not matter your gender identity. 4 Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Good for Sweden, though. A Swedish friend of mine pointed out that Sweden has been extraordinarily naive in military (and some other) matters. At least part of it is probably due to the fact that for Sweden, WW2 was not a war but a business opportunity: no fighting, but an awful lot of iron sold to the nazis for extremely good money. This helped create a culture of complacency.
Gorth
Sweden is probably still expecting Denmark to invade them some day, for a repeat of the Stockholm Bloodbath. Denmark has conscription too (at least they had when I was a young Dane). I got picked for civil defense duty, not the military. Most likely enemy we were going to face were East German and Polish armies. As for the current war, not sure there is a lot to negotiate about at the moment, as I doubt Putin himself knows what he wants... since he obviously can't have what he originally wanted and doesn't seem to have a plan b “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Even if Ukraine cannot be subjugated on this occasion there is always the long run. Take Chechnia for example. They have won their first war with Russia and it still did them little good in the end. This helped create a culture of complacency. The Swedish total defence has been that way since 1995. We stopped mandatory conscription in 2008 and replaced it with volounteer military training instead, but you still have to fill in some forms on your 18th birthday so that they can call on you for total defence. I don't disagree about your friends assessment, the reason being that our politicians are monumentally retarded. 1 Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. But given the state of democracy in Sweden, the blame does not lie entirely on the politicians. After all, all of them were voted in, and the elections were fair. I am not going to go that far, but you might enjoy this: the Russian patriarch Kirill created quite a furore after he was seen wearing an extremely expensive luxury watch. So, the watch was airbrushed out of the photo... but its reflection on the table was not. Like, how amateurish can you get in your attempt to cheat?
