I know I poked fun at the Wisconsin winter, but if you do get to the next stage, I'd say it is a pretty easy call that you need to go to her. She has family. As amazing as your property is and I've loved hearing about your work on it over the years, it is still just property. You can rebuild.

Just my 2 cents. I followed my wife back to her home and I know it was the right choice for me.

Speaking of that when I was on the phone with the realtor he was putting the full court press on selling the house. I think he knows I am somewhat interested but mostly torn and he’s trying to push me over the top.

I was, somewhat naïvely, hoping when she comes down in two weeks she will fall in love with the place and start imagining some kind of a future here. But even if all that happens it’s not realistic. B is a grown woman living in her own apartment and going to school. But there is no way G will move 700 miles away from her. And it would not be right for me to ask her to. No matter how things are going.

He's still at the hospital for at least another night but doing good. His roid rages are terrible though.

This was his second stint in an ICU as he spent the better part of a week in the NICU when he was born. Seeing an IV in the head of your tiny newborn son was a tough first day of being a parent.

I don’t think seeing one in his arm last night was any easier. Thank God he’s doing better. I’d say hopefully you get some sleep tonight but I suspect you won’t get much. Still praying for you guys!

They think he's got something like asthma but the specialist doesn't think it's asthma but I forgot what she called it. He's got 2 separate respiratory viruses but I don't remember which ones either, I blame a lack of sleep.

good luck. after days in a hospital and following dozens of tests, it's good to remember medicine is as much an art as science. the doctors are no doubt doing their best but sometimes there are no easy answers. your child is getting the best care they can manage, but you are allowed to be frustrated and disappointed if your doctors do not have a definitive answer, or worse, when they provide what seem to be conflicting answers.  i have faced such a situation with my own med problems and i assume what you face is a thousand times less pleasant as your child is the one in need of care.

so again, good luck.

Thanks to everyone for your support!

As much as he's gone through, taking a nap on a weekday afternoon sounds like living the life.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

G called me at 3:30 this morning. I thought something was wrong! She said she couldn't sleep and can't get used to sleeping alone again. We laughed about that and just talked for a little while. Afterwards I was making coffee and thinking "if I left now I could be there in time for dinner". It was very tempting.

But, I suddenly have a lot to do around here. I was seldom busy when I had nowhere to go. Now that there is somewhere I'd rather be I have a lot going one. Grrr.

Well for one she's married and secondly she has standards.  But mostly learning it as I know a fair amount, so it would be fun to converse with them in their native tongue and for the rest it's fun to learn new languages.

Coworker used "based" in a meeting today.  Shame I couldn't strangle him and settled for asking him why he's talking like some moron.

I could be home playing my game but instead hubby is dragging me to Sac because he is still curious if he would like to buy there. I am already bored. 😋

am applauding your husband's tactical awareness in making such a trip on a day when the high temps in the sacramento valley will be in the mid/low 70s and there is no omnipresent layer o' smoke from seasonal wildfires with which to contend. get to enjoy the kinda ideal weather/fire conditions which only exist for brief weeks in the spring and fall.

HA! Good Fun!

My dog just died. She was diagnosed with lymphoma about 3 months ago and given about 1-2 months then. She had been slowing down but was otherwise OK until last week, when she started swelling up and stopped eating very much. The vet recommended euthanasia and warned me that if she crashes it would be a nightmare. Bitty seemed to bounce back over the weekend but I knew that we were at the end. Last night she hardly slept because she's been struggling to breathe and this morning her legs had a ton of fluid in them so I called the vet and made an appointment. It's done, and I came home for the first time in over 20 years without a dog there. Half of me hates myself for doing it, and the other half hates myself for letting her suffer because I couldn't let her go. ****.
