megablast2 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Hy everyone, Does Obsidian plan to do a sequel to Tryanny or a PoE3? Good journey,
Hurlshort Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I'd say the odds are very good we will see more in the PoE setting, as it is an original IP that they have complete control . It is probably unlikely we see another Tyranny, since Paradox would need to be involved. 3 1 1
kanisatha Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 What about NwN3? I seriously believe Obsidian should campaign for it with WotC (while also making PoE3 obviously).
rjshae Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Perhaps we'll be seeing the technology and interface used for developing Outer Worlds fed back into their fantasy settings? I could imagine they'd want to try a FPS Pillars setting game, for example. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."

I don't feel like the Watcher's story is done and I think that story belongs as a top down party based rpg. To the original question: there will be another Pillars game if only because it is one of the only two IPs that Obsidian owns. It would be nice if Microsoft offered to by Tyranny from Paradox, but to the best of my knowledge, that hasn't happened (and Microsoft might not be too eager as Tyranny didn't sell well). Humanoid Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I'd sooner have them reuse the Outer Worlds engine to make Descent to Undermountain 2. 1 1 L I E S T R O N GL I V E W R O N G
daven Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I'd rather see something new. Hard sci fi RPG using the Deadfire engine. I can dream...!!! nowt
ShadySands Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) I want all of the above Excepting maybe a first person game Edited September 12, 2019 by ShadySands Free games updated 3/4/21
Gfted1 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I wouldn't mind a top down aRPG. I cant into first person, and if Im being honest with myself and PoE is any indication, I cant into dense RPG's either. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
ShadySands Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Have you Tyranny'd? It's a bit more action focused but it does still have a lot of text to wade through compared to something like Diablo Free games updated 3/4/21
Gfted1 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I have not tried it and its sitting in my Steam library gathering dust. Even though you guys have stated that the timer thing is no big deal, the whole Sword of Damocles is a major turn off for me. It wasn't the text in PoE that killed it, its just that Im too damn stoopid to wrap my brain around the system. 1 "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
ShadySands Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 The systems are a bit simpler too and spell creation was a neat idea 1 Free games updated 3/4/21
Zafar1981 Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 As once William Shakespeare said "What is in a name?" so I don't care what if Obsidian create POE3, Tyranny 2 or TOW2. I only care if they can still create the worlds and stories which are so immersive that we spent multiple of hours. 2
Harry Easter Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Hopefully, we will hear soon something about PoE3. Tyrannys story for me ended after one game. The story was finished, everything else would just be padding. But with PoE I think, that there is still enough room for another game left.
ABearIsHere Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 I can't imagine Obsidian is going to collaborate with other publishers again as long as they're under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella. So, while a Tyranny 2 is possible, I guess, I can't imagine it would be developed by Obsidian.
Abel Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 (edited) I just realized i'm not interested in any of these. Well, probably, if Tim were to work on a true Fallout again (after a good samaritan bomb Bethesda), i would change my mind. One could say, it's just a post apo universe, and there are others, but there is something you could find in the good old Fallout that definitely defined a genre, and were never ever reproduced or equaled. Aside, maybe, if you consider New vegas. I like Wasteland universe too, but It can't compare to Fallout 1 and 2. Hell, i will never forget this sore ass of a Brotherhood guy who sent me to this crappy radioactive hole, certain i would die (and i did, once), in order to get rid of me. And to begin with, the moment i understood i may need a rope and had none with me at the moment, i wanted to hand over his ass to him to pay him back for the hole in my shoes i got after back tracking to town. Still, great fun. Edited September 20, 2019 by Abel
uuuhhii Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 tyranny sequel are almost impossible so poe3?
Oerwinde Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I doubt Tyranny 2 since it's paradox and Obsidian isn't indie anymore. I hope they continue the Isometric Pillars as a way to drive PC gamepass with exclusive content and do a big AAA game in Eora as a separate franchise for Xbox. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
evilcat Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 POE3 would be fine, it feels that there needs to be the final chapter of epic trylogy. But if Deadfire was financial disaster putting whole company at risk then maybe not. Maybe TOW2 would be better. Or probe the waters with some other IP, and then if hit expand in that way.
uuuhhii Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 tyranny do have a great art style though those cutscene and card in conquest are simple and epic really hope obsidian have a chance to do something similar again
