Why does every class have to have magic?
Amentep replied to Darkprince048's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I believe the in-cannon explanations for all powers, martial or magical, is that its driven by the power of your soul since all things are driven by how strong your soul is in the game.

My understanding is that the health hazard is when you have (for example) asbestos insulation around a pipe and the insulation cover splits allowing particles to become airborne. Most of the professional remodeling I've seen has been based on the assumption that buildings have asbestos until you're sure they don't. We had a remodel at work that found tile in one of the spaces (part of an older layout where that part of a room had actually been part of an adjoining bathroom). Since tile of that age probably has asbestos, they went into full asbestos remediation to safely remove the tile. I gather that Gfted1's point is that if you're remodeling your house you should be responsible for hiring a company to check your house for asbestos before you start blythly knocking down walls and such (companies like that exist) and if they find it you'll need to hire a company that specializes in removing it before/as you remodel rather than have the EPA keeping a list of spaces with asbestos and forcing you to remediate the asbestos in their house. On an unrelated note, I keep typing "asbestoes".- Line of sight / distance ?
Amentep replied to sandcracker21's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think as Silvaren says, this is lifted directly from what Baldur's Gate did. You can see it action in this BG Let's Play (easiest to see by skipping to 7:42 and watching as NPCs move in/out of the sight radius while the party crosses the lobby of the Friendly Arm Inn. EDIT: Not to say that this is the way it has to be or that a toggle couldn't be created or something - provided there's not a systemic reason to do it this way.- Politics' Official Eighteenth Thread

"You could retire early if you invested in comic books" In a way... this is true. Just got to invest in Marvel baby! Anyone with sense knew retiring off of X-Men #1(1992) wasn't something that was going to really happen. There's a reason why the comics from the 30s-50s (the "Golden Age") were so valuable - they were disposable entertainment that survived war time recycling drives AND the 50s "Comics are going to rot our children's brain and make them murder us all, horribly" scare. They're scarce despite having print runs larger than any of the 1990s speculator comics. It was a bubble that had to (and did) burst. The big speculator market in the 90s were really newcomers who didn't understand the market or what made things valuable in the long term (but lots of short term money was made in flipping books, which still happens today in the market).- Gold, Runes, and Charms have disappeared
I've heard of people losing cards, but not gold. Perhaps another user has heard of the issue. RE: Early Access I believe the stated reason was the same as for PoE1, they didn't want the story to be spoiled. Since the interactive narrative is a big part of the experience for the game, the beta mostly concentrated on fine tuning mechanics. But you have to admit, it is a better dramatic title than "So what if the President is Missing, We Have a Perfectly Good Vice-President Right Here".- The Music Listening thread
What do you like? Are there bands and styles you usually dislike? Hmmm, late 90s music not necessarily my strong point. Are we thinking 96-200? Anyhow, I'll leave you with 1997 Portishead: I knew Vengaboys had another hit locally other than We Like to Party, but if you'd asked me to name it at gunpoint I'd have failed. But this was it.- Line of sight / distance ?

Given that s/he was banning long time users for posting any complaints - even civil ones - I imagine most of us were of the opinion that pointing out the gaffe in the sig would have been a banning offense so we gritted our teeth and ignored it. I think 'who cares' is precisely the reasoning at this point; according to them, people who still tune in (and I think ratings have been down for years) are primarily tuning in for the talent portion, not the swimsuit and evening wear competitions. So they're maximizing the reality show like aspects of the program (personality and talent) and scrapping the rest to try and reinvent the program for a modern audience (and scrapping the Pageant name, its now the Miss America Competition).- anyone else think we should have been able to become a god?

Lego Movie 2:- Why was the game realeased when it has so many bugs?
Amentep replied to ArnoldRimmer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)I remember back in the BIS days a developer (can't remember who exactly now) talked about the difficulty of creating a computer game and the fact that 'in the wild' there would be a lot more combinations of hardware than could ever be accounted for by QA. Add into that the natural complexity of RPGs and the variable of how a player might handle things in the game... Even with time and money, I agree that odds are PC games will still come out with bugs simply because they can't test every possible available combo that could run the game. This was the appeal of console gaming at the time from the developers point of view - that you could design something for a single piece of hardware that would always be the same. That said, I can also see why people would make the argument that some of the game breaking bugs encountered that seemed to catch large groups of people should have never happened. Its a legitimate position to have.- Why was the game realeased when it has so many bugs?
Amentep replied to ArnoldRimmer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)Isn't that essentially what "early access" is now? was there 'early access' before though ? early access always say 'you take the risk of playing an unfinished game that is filled with bugs , and your money will go toward polishing and adding stuff' . Homewhever , I have seen some game that take the money then run away with it . Sure , the number is small..but still . Also there is the front of peoples who think playing early access game is like they are doing the Dev work , playing a buggy game . That often lead them to 'this game better be free from bugs when it's out !'' . Personally , I think nowdays games come out buggy cose of many reasons . Some of them maybe lazyness ? we have no proof of that . But mostly , I think often it's the engine that is used . And really , those bugs don't happen to everyone . So to anyone who complain about buggy game on release , plz explain why NOT everyone get the bugs ? My point was that we're already there at that point where games are released after the first alpha (seemingly) and built before your eyes. I'm not sure if its good or bad. With respect to buggy games I think the culprit is always the same - time and money. Sometimes a company - unless they have really, really deep pockets - will have to push a game out regardless of how much more polish could be put into it if it were delayed. Even if you have the money to throw at QA (hire more testers, buy more configurations of computers for QA to test on), if you don't have the ability to spend the time to identify, test and fix bugs and then QA again, throwing the money at the QA group would be pointless.- CPU usage and temperature
Amentep replied to Continuity's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)sorry, but someone spouting misinformation out of ignorance can actually CAUSE DAMAGE. I've seen it happen. it's not just a matter of opinion like "I like vanilla and you like chocolate" moderation that allows misinformation to continue is bad moderation. that latter is an opinion, the former is fact. It is possible to counter misinformation with facts and to do so without calling other users idiots.- Why was the game realeased when it has so many bugs?
