Main Story, an atheist cliche?

If I may ask, what is a Horus? It sounds very Egyptian, or Warhammer like. -
Main Story, an atheist cliche?
gogocactus replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
To be honest, coffee is one thing I don't want to believe in. But alas, it's hard to ignore it's call and beckoning. I hope you drink your coffee black, as it was meant to be, and not perverting its beany glory with cream or sugar like a heretic. When I drink coffee, I try to limit myself to strong espressos. Purely for the taste . However, similar to house2fly, I am currently in the (rocky) process of trying not to drink it too often so as not to become too dependent on it. -

Bingo. If I knew the guy personally? If I could confirm, for example, that he has more friends, I'd let loose and speak my mind. But I don't know that, and I can't do that to someone who may otherwise be friendless. For what it's worth, I've been in a similar situation as one of my close friends is autistic. While we both attended college, we lived in the same dorm and I could hardly meet any other friends inside my dorm without him joining as he would listen to the sound of my room door opening or closing in order to determine whether I was home or not. At that time, my friend too hardly had any friends and because of that, I too felt it was difficult to broach the subject to him. Yet, in the end I did. Because he did not pick up on hints and because if he was going to continue with his behavior his behavior would have continued to intrude into large parts of my life for several years at least. At first, he didn't like it and it nearly killed our friendship. However, given time it motivated him to go out and make more friends, whilst our friendship got more balanced, we got to hang out on a more voluntary basis and I stopped seeing his presence as something bothersome. That is all to point out that a relationship of friendship based on pity is not good for either of you. In the end, both of you are responsible for your own life's happiness. Addressing this problem directly might give him the opportunity to address some of these annoyances. If not, at least you're making sure that someone won't take away from your enjoyment of gaming for a sustained period of time, which is important as well.

Main Story, an atheist cliche?

I'd like to highlight how bothersome - in the sense of being an absolute drag - your unsupported conspiracy theories were. Talking about shoving nihilism down someone's throat? I have yet to make up my mind as to whether the above consists of a supreme act of trolling, an attempt to gain self validation or delusion. Either way, regarding your announcement: I would appreciate it if you would leave the topic at Reddit as well. Thank you very much. -

I have yet to see a single person agree with you in general, or on the fact that the game tries to forward a specific political agenda. -

Never mind. This thread doesn't deserve the attention it gets. -

Just as I suspected, thank you very much.......... I have had extensive encounters with atheists and the way last act unfolded, it was screaming write in my face what you just confirmed....... You seem to get a kick out of conspiracy theories. -
Atheist Backing?
gogocactus replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
For what it's worth, the kickstarter wasn't aimed at 'atheists' and neither did Obsidian create the story in tandem with - any - part of the community. So... to put it carefully, I would say that you are a bit too much on the defensive here. -
GAME OF THE YEAR
gogocactus replied to ojthesimpson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
No, it really doesn't.A double a game then? A single a? Honestly, the game was good enough for an a to be involved here . -
I am laughing my ass off for the sweet, sweet irony of it all. First I write my post here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84631-the-game-post-patch-3-is-great-but-flawed-in-so-many-ways/?do=findComment&comment=1779649 And then I stumble upon this thread only to see the remarks above. Oh, how tempting to just say 'I take it all back'

He's just giving his opinion, but if you disagree you're trolling I don't know. I never figured Brindle to be a troll, considering as how he just gives his opinion and, to me at least, doesn't seem to try and elicit certain types of response from the other participants in a conversation as a troll usually would. In fact, I do find some of his posts interesting or genuinely funny to read. For example, it was only today that I realised that the item description of St Ydwens redeemer does indeed not mention anything about the particular conditions that it needs to meet for it to instantaneously destroy vessels. Yet, I had somehow always 'known' about those conditions that it needed to meet in order to do just that, which only proved to me that I spend too much time lurking on these forums. In that sense, I might almost say that Brindle's idiosyncratic posts perform a valuable function in leading the people on these forums to the realisation of profound self-insight, some might even say, attaining enlightenment... Alright alright, in regards to that latter part: I kid. That said, while I do not consider Brindle a troll per se, I have indeed yet to discover the rationale behind his idiosyncratic method of writing on this forum.

I vote against the inclusion of any respec tool for companions. If you want a character with optimal stats you can hire an adventurer. Companions are real people in a real game world. You'll have to learn to live with their flaws and peculiarities, that's what makes them special. The option to respec companion's would detract from immersion by making companions feel less 'real', and make them more replaceable by self made adventurers.

What? You didn't install PoE on your office computer? You're not a real believer! At least bring a PoE bootable USB stick =P

I just watched your review. I'm not going to type out a review of the review, but I did want to let you know that I enjoyed watching it. The first two minutes started off a bit slow and I felt that that is where you still had to come into your own, but following time flew past and I had a good time watching it. Both informative as entertaining, and I loved the fact that you both highlighted the 3.0 changes as well as the white March part two content. Good job!

Monkeylungs, like others have stated above, white March part one is rather combat heavy, but part two is where Pillars of Eternity really shines. It's probably one of the best parts in the game in terms of quality of setting, story, interactivity etc. If you don't enjoy it for now, perhaps you can come back to the content once you're high level so that you can breeze through it. Even so, I'm quite sure that you will like white March part two, so don't give up just yet!

Third Expansion
gogocactus replied to cwi87's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
For what it's worth, I would also like to add that Pillars of Eternity is the best CRPG since Baldur's Gate 2. In fact, given the extremely high quality of the expansions, I'm halfway of a mind to state that it's equally as good. It truly is a modern classic, and I too will be more than happy to back PoE 2 when it is announced on kickstarter.
