  1. Can't be me, I'm canonically dead in the Deadfire world. EDIT: unless spooky scary spirit me did it... The log mentioned a . Did this good fellow meet his demise soon after?
  2. I'm currently playing as a fighter (devoted) / Rogue (Assassin). You get the durability of the fighter, combined with the lethality of the rogue. I gave my character 18 dex, 18 per and 12 strength in order to max out his attack speed and the number of critical hits he scores. The character is also devoted to daggers for role playing purposes. At level six, this character is already doing massive damage. It will be even more fun once this character will be able to use stealthy backstab attacks throughout combat through shadowing beyond and smoke bomb. And later, after saving up, to buy items and / or weapons that will amplify the power of critical hits or provide special effects upon scoring critical hits.
  3. I have to say that I find this genuinely touching. What a wonderful way for a studio to show their appreciation to their game's community. Thank you again Fluffle, for taking the initiative to make this happen. And thank you Obsidian for this kind gesture. Now, to start character creation for the Xth time and create a new character build around this weapon...
  4. I've got a day off work on Thursday and this is precisely what I'm going to spend my morning on. For once, you inspire me, SonicMage117!
  5. I'm not sure if it will make you feel better, but please know - remember - that you are not alone in feeling like this. The inability to understand why people would hurt other people over inconsequential things is a question that haunts me in my waking hours, and a major reason why I've been on medication for the past ten years. It's also why I avoid these grand conversations of social order or politics like a plague. The existence of the internet sure doesn't make it any better, especially when one is forced to watch the unraveling of something seemingly as pure in concept as one's childhood heroes. I don't know you, so forgive me if I am missing the mark here, but you're probably a bit like me: both very naive and very idealistic. As such, I wish I could offer you the comfort you need, and I hate myself for being bad at important words when it matters. Still, for me, it feels better knowing that there's at someone like you around. It's not just you against a bleak world - we're out there, people like you, people like me. Don't give up just yet. Definitely time for a bunch of sensitive and empathic people like us to give each other a group hug, close our browsers and then go and sit outside on the porch, in the sun, enjoying a nice chilled beverage :D. Also @Grumpy, neglect and ill-intent is one thing... But please don't forget that people also work the other way around and take risks by giving a chance to people who just need a little bit of help to get where they want to go. I could actually give you some examples from my own personal life, if you'd like to hear something positive for a change.
  6. Indeed. I did not like the first concept art - at all - but am rather enamoured of her portrait. I'm starting to look forward to her inclusion in the game now. That said, I should add that I just love all of these portraits. I admire your craftsmanship MS. Laney.
  7. What about that description (Someone was kind enough to post it in another thread)? Does not sound that much like a "scientist". More of an identification figure for gothic nerd girls. "Noone seems to understand, but death is sooo fascinating." The problem here is not that she fits into one stereotype. The character described and pictured there is a monster sewed together from the countless corpses of different stereotypes.Maybe I can add something to help the writers fleshing out the character: She really likes chocolate, get's very nervous when cute boys are around and has an unhealthy taste for bad guys. As a child she didn't want to play with dolls. Instead she removed their body parts and sewed them together in another order. That alienated the other children, so she hadn't much social contact. Her parents didn't understand her and wanted her to become a lady. Study somthing harmless, find a man and marry him. They brought her to an animancer who should cure her soul, but he didn't find anything unusual. Still her parents were trying to force her. So she ran away oftentimes. Her mother learned to accept how her daughter was, but her father never did, so she had no good relationship with him. Then her father died and she never had the opportunity to get things right with him. Later she found out, that she was bisexual... Shall I continue? I can do this for hours. I would love to tell you the episode where she couldn't save her cat from dying. Maybe you could expound a bit more on her alleged bisexuality? Shocking rumours of course and hardly of any interest to me.. I'm asking for a friend. :')
  8. Off-topic: oh my god, Lephys, you are back! I missed your presence (and your puns) on these forums. I'm glad to see you could resist your excitement in anticipation of PoE2 no longer and had to share it with us on the forums =P. That said: go(go)(gadget)~~~ walk-toggle!
  9. What I will do is this: The deadline will be postponed to next Monday 11:59 PM (GMT +2). I sent a reminder mail to everyone (sorry, yes to EVERYONE, because that's easier for me than to single out those who haven't sent a submission yet, please don't mind the spam if you have already submitted ) and I also officially opened this to backer who donated less than 10$. On the other hand, I would really dislike to allow more than one entry to a single backer, or more than 80 characters. The 80 characters and the 50 entries are upper bounds. Remember this offer was voluntary by Obsidian. It was a nice gesture. It is not included in any tier of the FIG campaign. So doing this will cost them additional resources. Not to mentioned that it also costs time and effort for me So if we stay below those upper bounds I see that as a polite way of causing less work to Obsidian than necessary I hope you understand Hey Fluffle! I mentioned this on my email to you, but my entry was 91 characters with spaces included (76 without). By your confirmation it seemed to be okay, but just for clarification, should I try to reduce it some more if possible? Good question. I actually assumed we had to include any and all spaces in our character count. Could you please illuminate this point further, Fluffle?
  10. I think this is something that we should just push for on these forums. Two full expansions! One in each category
  11. Am I the only one enjoying Firkraag88's 'unconventional' style here then? Yes, he's a bit rough. But his posts never cease to give great enjoyment to me as he comes across as a brusque, entitled and confrontational young man. I frankly think he posts them like that intentionally to achieve just that effect. There's no way this is not an act
  12. Oh, that's alright then. The fact that they officially announced this on fig sets my mind at ease. :')
  13. Because all the kids think that "deeper companion relationships" = Japanese dating sim and therefore assume that she will be their waifu. That is the only reason. This. I just can't stretch enough how much Obsidian dropped the ball with that character art. The moment I saw that 'is Ydwin yandere or tsundere?' thread pop up on this forum it was obvious that certain people had gotten way too enthusiastic about the anime like qualities of the character. (And its potential dateability.) I really wished that they wouldn't have crossed over to an anime style when designing the concept art of this character, or the overall character's description: so uninspiring and bland. I feel it was really out of place as I can't see animé tropes, especially of the simplistic 'is Ydwin yandere or tsundere?' kind mix well with PoE's bleak and grim setting. Rather, I hope that Obsidian will keep developing more complex, human like characters as they did in PoE 1. In the end, I trust Obsidian to do a good job in character development, but actually hope that this character doesn't get developed into a full companion and someone else takes her place instead.
  14. Certainly, you're actually saying that you'll be disappointed if they don't change the physique of wizards to match the fact that their magical prowess are tied to their strength?
  15. Man, I hope that you're speaking out against 'fanboys' in general there, rather than against everyone on this subforum who disagrees with you. Because generally speaking, the people on this subforum are cool, have the best interests of the game at heart and form a friendly, respectful community. You're part of it too, you know . <edit> And if some people here feel the need to defend PoE's state system, it might just so be that they do so because they genuinely find it to their liking, it doesn't necessarily make them fanboys, or too inexperienced with game design, or too inexperienced with a variety of builds, etc. Let's focus on each other's arguments here, rather than disqualifying each other with these broad statements.
  16. For what it's worth, at least the item description will know no limits and will allow us to discharge the full extent of our creative energies .
  17. Yeah - I also suggested that option in another thread. It would merge our "ingame-recognition-ledger" with a trinket item that gives a bonus. It would also be a bit more creative than a sword. I musta read your post and ruminated on it! I do think it's a better idea than Badass Sword #36. On that topic, might I add that I would welcome anything more creative than Badass Sword #36 .
