  1. Some backers are quite critical of the game. ...And I will point out that I don't know of *any* mods deleting critical post or, more importantly, refusing to approve them in the first place. The only ones I haven't pushed forward, out of undoubtedly hundreds at this point, were questionable in some specific way. That amounts to *maybe* five. So, the idea that Obsidz is paying people to shill sounds kind of crazy. After all, they're letting us push forward all of the critical posts and we mods do it for free. Yeah, you're going to get some pushback from people who are sometimes more or less blindly loyal. Then again, I have also seen people attack Obsidzians for reasons that appeared on their faces to be blindly antagonistic. However, the point is that a well considered negative critique, should be welcomed by Obsidz, or anyone else who wants a better product! Don't post nakedly hateful rhetoric filled with profanity and whatnot and you might get a good response from at least some folks.
  2. Merged topics. I agree with your solution, Warzoid. If it's too easy on hard, I'd go with PotD. If you're an ol' skool grognard, you're probably having an easier time of it than a lot of newbies.
  3. I don't think so. I see many options, some of which are red (and I can't use) and others that cite stats or race (so far) that I *can.* Kind of sad, but I also don't think it's always necessary for every sub-class to have something. Although it probably is kind of offputting to have every sub-class but the one you're playing. <.<
  4. I don't have time to give a detailed response, but the first thing is that you aren't so prideful you refuse to lower the level. Second is, if you're in trouble, don't be ashamed to use exploits like environment or enemy flaws. I would keep in mind the way the engagement tactics work. There's a ton of stuff that gets backed up, so the mods are all busy, but there are so many grognards in the crowd that someone will relish showing his game theory chops to help you.
  5. Yeah, I just checked and it appears to be 12. Low to mid level adventures rule!
  6. I'm not concerned with it and, although I understand the arguments, I don't find that always running pacts my perception. The NPCs always running probably would. If it's not difficult, however, I think it'd be cool for folks who want a toggle.
  7. Patching in kill XP sounds crazy. Frankly, this has definitely been less of an issue than some folks claimed it would be. For my part, I prefer no kill-xp but, to be fair, you aren't the only one. Now, you *do* get experience for filling in bestiary entries, which actually means you xp for kills in a way. Also, kills that are part of quest steps should yield xp also in as much as they help you finish those quests.
  8. Because sometimes the scene isn't dramatic enough to warrant the change. I really like the change in certain scenes, though, like the... well, no spoilers from me, but there are a few scenes early on that I think the music really accentuates. ...But, no, I do sometimes want the music a bit more in the background. Of course, my favorite music is the background music just walking around and whatnot. <.< :Cant's sheepish grin icon: I'm only early in the game, but once it quiets down I'm going to spend every moment I can playing. I had high hopes, and it looks like I won't be disappointed. Still reserve judgment, but everything looks (and sounds!) awesome so far.
  9. I've felt compelled to pitch in around here, otherwise all of my free time would be spent playing. I'm at level three right now and I've only scratched the surface. I haven't even been in every dwelling in the first place we arrive. Sorry to sound obscure, just being careful of spoils! Nice tags, Kylania. :Cant's huge grin icon:
  10. I don't think the music is the best part. I sometimes think it can be overly dramatic. However, it's a damned good part. I actually think Bell did a stellar job with it. I kind of liked his stuff during the kickstarter and whatnot, but I really dig the 'feel' of the music. Anyhow, I'm only early into the game, but I'm diggin' it.
  11. On the other hand, don't blame each other. Bugs are frustrating and it's okay to vent. Just try to keep perspective on both sides.
  12. I couldn't see anything particularly spoilerish in your post, Grëgo. Might as well leave it here. :Cant's grin and shrug icon:
  13. Hey guys, remember to keep the attacks to each other's arguments and not make it personal.
  14. Went to church this morning, went to lunch with friends afterwards, came home to deal with a flood of new posts/threads/flames/fluff. Now, I think it's time for a short hike. Ah, time to hit those beautiful hills!
  15. I think folks are well within their rights to use anything available in the game. If folks can rest, rest away! However, the 'too easy' and 'too hard' crowds will be there no matter what. It's just going to happen and unless there's a huge flood of complaints on the issue, which there hasn't been, I wouldn't worry about either one.
  16. I voted no, but not because I want to deny someone else the chance to have multiplayer. I don't think wanting multiplayer makes you a bad person. However, as has often been stated in these threads, if they're going to put in a stretch goal, I would want them to put in something that I like. So, if you asked, "would it be nice if multiplayer fans have the option?" I'd say yes. If you ask, "should the new funding level go towards multiplayer?" I'd say no. I want the new funding level to go towards more NPCs, or another couple levels on the mega dungeon, or another medium sized town. ...And I would expect you to think of that when voting in one of these online polls, so that if you don't want any more levels on the dungeon, you would vote no to that because you'd rather have multiplayer.
  17. It's impossible. And when we get 5k+ people and have to approve the posts, it's really tough! lol
  18. Actually, now that we're not calling each other scum and the whatnot, the thread has the sort of debate I always like. Gamer geeks having a heated and spirited debate without holding it against one another. Hell, even the two or three people who've engaged me personally in this debate have earned a beer that I would gladly buy them in real life if we were to meet. Either that or a water with a twist if alcohol is offensive. :Cant's big beefy grin icon: The trick is not to have personal animosity over a limerick we probably wouldn't even know existed if not for the controversy over it.
  19. I don't want to get into the age old dispute over who has more claim to victimhood. In that case, even the winner is a clear loser. I will, however, say that there are places where a white male sleeping with... well... any of the non-white population will be at risk. The non-white member of the population is similarly at risk. We can take it to the extreme and posit that the limerick in some convoluted way advocates killing transgender people because of an idea of transgender trickery, but I nevertheless refuse to take it to that extreme. To be clear, because someone *can* take the idea to the extreme does not mean the idea is extreme in and of itself. ...And, as I'm sure at least a few people have pointed out already, the hue and cry over this issue has engendered more animosity than ignoring the limerick in question would ever have accomplished even assuming that was its intent, which I likewise don't take for granted. BTW: I have known white guys who've had the crap beat out of them for dating local women. In fact, I have lived where such things have happened.
  20. I'm not sure that dwarven women in the Pillars of Eternity game world *do* have beards. ...But even if it's not patched in for you, I'm sure there will be mods.
  21. This is fair enough, and perhaps salient to the issue, but I don't think the same limerick modified to include an Asian female killing herself because she was shamed by sleeping with a 'white' male should be restricted. It would be in poor taste, but worthy of this? How about a Catholic for sleeping with a Muslim? I haven't even seen the limerick, but I would have to say that your point, though well taken, doesn't really change my mind. I would like to think, as someone who doesn't grave offense at such things, that I would likewise not be offended at 'white men have small reproductive organs' jokes. Actually, since I have seen such jokes in cinema and in print and *not* been offended or angry, I guess I do more than think I wouldn't take grave offense. I'm certain I wouldn't.
  22. How does one comfort the 'little devil?' <.< On a serious note, I don't think folks should impugn whole groups of people, and I don't want to comment on the limerick in question, but I don't like the idea of restraining artistic vision because of an overeager attempt to politically cleanse speech. On one hand, speaking as someone is neither employed by Obsidian nor speaks for them in any way, I can understand wanting to make the game as accessible to as many people as possible while offending the smallest number. On the other hand, I don't want their artistic inclinations subdued by a very vocal small minority. The limerick in question is, if backer created as attested, something that Obsidian probably vetted before it ended up in the game. If it were not, then shame on them. If it were, they probably saw it as something harmless and not meant to single out a specific group or hurt anyone in any way. The fact that someone could, conceivably, be hurt by it should not be the grounds to restrict speech. So, if Obsidian decides to withdraw the memorial, fair enough. They're a business. As someone whose livelihood and lifestyle don't depend on Obsidian's success, and who is indeed not employed by them, it's not my place to judge them for removing content. However, they have to decide whether the limerick truly crosses a line. If it does not, do they want to likewise offend people who will undoubtedly see them as caving to a special interest group that many people feel is not demanding equal respect and treatment but, in fact, special respect and treatment. I'm a volunteer mod, so I'm not going to judge. ...But I do hope that we find a way to move a line a little bit farther towards freedom of speech and save those battles for hills that are more worthy than the limerick that has caused such mayhem here. EDIT: grammatically 'cleansed' my post. Not politically.
  23. I love the disclaimer, XenoCrash. I wish everyone who suggested hex or (heaven forbid) registry editing would put up a similar one!
