  1. I personally think that the Waidwen/Saint War plot would have made for a much better game. You still get a mysterious god doing mysterious things to influence the world of mortals. You can still have Margan and the others pulling strings in the background. However, with Eothas in human form, he's potentially fightable as a final boss. There's also an army of followers that you can have battles again. Perfect, no?
  2. Now here's an interesting thread. Josh states the watchers goals are: 1. To find out what Eothas is doing. 2. Influence him. Now, I definitely wasn't expecting to fight Eothas. I realized that wasn't practical (This isn't a JRPG). But at no point in time did I feel like we were capable of convincing him to stop either. I mean, who is the Watcher that Eothas should listen to him? The other gods sure as hell don't take our advice seriously. And Eothas has clearly put some serious plans into motion. It doesn't feel like something you can stop with a few good dialogue choices and a charisma check. So, yeah, what do you do when you catch the god you're hunting? "lol, nothing." (Of course, on a personal level, I feel bad for Josh. No creator wants to find out his story wasn't well received.)
  3. He didn't seem particularly fussed who I sided with in my playthrough. I think the developers purposefully made him this way since his quest requires you to take him to Ukaizo. It's probably only Maia and Pallegina who take issue.
  4. Hey chaps. So, with the Beast of Winter expansion coming out, I was thinking of doing an ice/winter-themed character. Of course, we can’t actually play a Priest of Rymrgand yet (apart from the new companion), so I was thinking about what options there are. The obvious choice would be to take a wizard or druid and just select ice spells, but there are so many levels that don’t have anything. Do you guys have any other ideas?
  5. I'm deeply curious, what does she say if you sacrificed him?
  6. 10 hours into Battletech. Honestly guys, I'm not enjoying it overly much. Maybe it's 'cause I keep comparing it to Xcom in my head. In Xcom, you get an equally small team of chess pieces, but it feels like you can do so much more. Battletech just seems to be a lot of *move mech, shoot* ad infinitum. Am I missing some beautiful strategic elegance here?
  7. I didn't realize it was actually possible to not trigger the alarm. I figured it was necessary to continue the quest line later.
  8. Agreed, it's all good stuff. Just not enough of it to make me feel like I'm actually hanging out with these people.
  9. Speaking in terms of pure mechanics, the question is simple, isn't it? You get free stats for a companion that can be replaced at any tavern. On the other hand, if we make this philosophical/ethical, it becomes very difficult. Who are you to judge whether an old man dies, regardless of how racist or sexist? Walk a mile in Durance's shoes before you judge him.
  10. Professional translator here. If we give these translation companies the benefit of the doubt, they may have been translating with 0 context (just from a spreadsheet, as someone said). Even if you're really good at your second language, jumping in the deep end without any context or any idea what's happening on screen is extremely difficult. Even worse, they may have divided the job between many people. Now you have even less idea what's going because you're doing chapter 3 while another guy is doing chapter 1&2. Add an extra layer of awful if they didn't play PoE1. On the other hand, if they used non-natives or, heaven forbid, google translate, that's just embarrassing.
  11. Now that you mention it, Fulvano's name seems to have been completely scrapped from the project. But there is a guy who asks you to explore a bunch of islands.
  12. Sorry, I guess I was unclear. I mean: What did they do with the fantasy language? Vailian is very similar to Italian, right? Vailian for friend: aimico Italian for friend: amico etc. I was wondering if that sounds cheesy to the Italian players. I'm a translator so this kind of thing interests me.
  13. I do wish he'd give us a discount on some of those plus 3 dexterity massages after joining, but I love his personality. He's also one of the few companions that has a decent might score. (If memory serves me correctly)
  14. It would be nice if Berath's blessing would allow you to play Icewind Dale style—make a whole party from the beginning. Sure, it would mess up balance in the beginning of the game, but after playing through everything a couple of times, it might be a nice change of pace.
  15. Welp... Mechanics is my number 1 priority. It's really annoying if you're in the middle of a dungeon and you can't open a door or chest. Everything else isn't really a big deal. I honestly just assign them in a roleplaying-ish way. Serafen handles streetwise, Aloth handles arcana, Xoti handles religion, etc.
  16. *shrugs* I think the difficult has improved since 1.1. Like that drake in middle of the dig site near Port Maje; I wasn't expecting that and got clobbered the first time. Not saying every fight is super challenging, but 1.1 has its moments.
  17. I selected Ydwin to perform a cipher scan, but midway she starts speaking like a pirate. I guess this dialogue doesn't take into account that there can be multiple ciphers in the party.
  18. When stripping Benweth's henchmen for loot in Fort Deadlight, I could not help but notice that they had very pale faces with very dark bodies. Pretty sure that sailors usually tan in the areas that aren't covered by clothing
  19. It's probably the first one after you sail away from Port Maje. My game crashed there too. Fortunately, it worked after I reloaded.
  20. ... Of all the plot holes in this game, that's the one that bothers you the most? Sorry, I'll try to be nice. I haven't done said quest, so I'm not sure of the particulars, but I'm pretty sure most of the artwork in this game's slides is "general". For example, the watcher is almost always depicted as a human-sized guy in a cloak, regardless of what kind of character you're playing. Now, apart from your ghost ship, you can also purchase several other types of ships in the game apart from the sloop. I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to redraw all the slides for each possible ship.
  21. First, I agree that the system is too transparent. As you say, it invites the player to game the system. All of the trait stuff and reactions could have gone under the bonnet. It’s almost like they spent so much time working on the system that they wanted to show it off. Personally, I think each companion should have hand written dialogue for each scene (basically the old system?) Is that a lot more work than designing a strange traits system? I’m really not sure. Incidentally, what were you experiences with the in game “relationships”? I was in a relationship with a large yellow female who will remain unnamed. However, after becoming an item, absolutely nothing changed. No snu-snu scene. No extra lovers dialogue. Nothing. I’ve never been in such a boring relationship in my life. Bug or feature? While I’m ranting: I wish the on-ship dialogue options would be updated sometimes! Seriously, it would have been really cool if they occasionally had something slightly different to say when you visit them below decks. Instead, throughout the game, you get the same dialogue tree. What’s the point of going down there for a chat? Overall, I can see Obsidian worked really hard on the new system, but conversely, it feels like it has taken a step backwards. Hirelings: I have almost no complaints about the hirelings. I hear that you would have liked even more reactivity, but honestly, I think the companions and sidekicks need the work first.
  22. I bought all the ships just to get the achievement and that sucked a lot of money, but if you don't need that, then just skip to the best ship and spend the rest on weapons and armor.
  23. I guess that if gods can govern multiple ideas, they can have multiple types of godlike. Though as someone pointed out, why the heck do we need 3 gods that represent death? (Berath, Rymrgand and Gaun). Maybe they can share the Death Godlike. Interesting point, I'd forgotten about that. Perhaps some gods were killed off by the others at some point? Or they're saving one or two for some big reveal down the line in PoE3.
