What is the difference between all the different versions?
Heijoushin replied to Iconoclast12's topic in Obsidian General
Aren't the differences written on steam or where you're trying to buy it from? I think it's mostly little knickknacks like PDFs, soundtracks, documentaries, wallpapers, blah, blah. Nothing essential IMHO, unless you have the cash spare and want to support Obsidian. -
Portraits
Heijoushin replied to iscalio's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I know, right? The other day, I told my kids, "I taped Hawaii Five-0". And they were like, "Dad? Seriously? Taped? Like an old video tape? Are you, like, 40?" And I said, "Damn right I am, you little s**ts. Have some respect! Grow some temples! Read some books!" Anyways, I guess I'm in the camp that likes the modified portraits. They look good. Now, we're all RPG nerds here. Can't we get along? -
Where are we getting this? I know you can't talk to them in the current beta, but I assumed that was just a beta thing. It's not confirmed, but considering we couldn't speak to the mercenaries in Caed Nua, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch. As Sonic says, it would be better to give orders directly (for certain things at least), via dialogue, like in Neverwinter Nights 2.

I can recommend The Good Place. Without spoilers, it's a comedy about a basic bitch who "accidentally" gets sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place. I really enjoyed the humor. The first season is awesome. The second season is not as good but still watchable. (Sorry, I'd attach a trailer, but my internet is so damn slow at the moment that it's not worth the effort)

So... I haven't really been playing much since the last patch (been busy with life), but based off my limited experience, there's one tiny thing that bothers me about the ship crew, and it has nothing to do with the mechanics. What bothers me is that you can't talk to or interact with any of your crew members while on deck If you can't talk to them, they just feel like soul-less collections of number/stats. It's the same problem as with the stronghold in PoE1. You can see they've thought a lot about mechanics, but it's all so mechanical that it feels like a cellphone game and not a roleplaying experience. Even if it's typical RPG one-liners, let us talk to our crew!!

Hey guys. What's up with the dollar lately? It seems to have really weakened since last year. Can't we make the dollar great again? Sincerely - Losing Money

So Marceror, have you given up or can we catch you on this thread again in 2019?

White march 1 is brilliant!
Heijoushin replied to Ogi79's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Quite so, quite so. The snowy setting reminded me of Icewind Dale, and Zahua and the Devil of Caroc were really awesome characters. -
Okay, hear me out. Thaos gets reborn into a new body each time, but gets to keep his memories of all his previous incarnations, right? So he's an endlessly flexible character with the benefit of the experience of 100 adventures. Doesn't that sound like... the player? It would work so well for sequels. Instead of this weird excuse of losing your powers because Eothas stomped all over you, each new game could simply be a new incarnation of the character. So no problem if you role a completely different race or gender. All they need is a central "mission" that spans generations. I just find the concept of Thaos really cool, whereas the watcher, apart from his soul seeing powers... is really boring. I mean, he's just one of Thaos' underlings from a past life who has serious existential issues.

Homecoming
Heijoushin replied to teenparty's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I have no doubt that there will be many short lines/references to your Deadfire background, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything major. -
Dwarf beards
Heijoushin replied to Augusto's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Indeed, give us fatter dwarves! Are these Deadfire chaps all on diets? -
1 month of no communication is hardly AWOL. They're busy. But I see where you're coming from, the latest beta version is still overflowing with bugs. Still, some time has passed since that version was released. And hopefully the last 2 months will be spent exclusively on squashing bugs. So while I don't think it will be Blizzard level quality, it shouldn't be a train-wreck.

How about a new genre of isometric?
Heijoushin replied to UmarSlobberknocker's topic in Obsidian General
Well, Tides of Numenera was almost that. You could almost completely avoid combat in that game. -
Refunded my Deadfire pledge, here's why...
Heijoushin replied to Jojobobo's topic in Obsidian General
Okay, I didn't read all the text walls but... This reminds me of the people who refund 5 dollar games on Steam after playing them for 2 hours. Sure, you're within your rights but... unless you're really strapped for cash, it seems like you're begrudging them a tiny monetary contribution despite enjoying their product. Sure, it's not 100% perfect, but some programmers out there poured their blood and sweat into making this game. I'm not sure how to say this without coming across as rude but, if you're getting so worked up over a few bugs, I think you might have lost your sense of perspective somewhere along the way. -
Humor in Deadfire
Heijoushin replied to a topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This is just the right amount of humour. I could never get into Divinity with all its silly jokes. -
They general consensus at the moment is: no, they can't. There just aren't enough abilities to choose from to do anything special with a single class character (especially with neutral abilities removed). I wouldn't want to nerf multiclasses (because finding synergy between their two bonuses is what makes them fun to roll) but single classes also need something attractive. Say, an early level ability that you only get as a single class.

A rework for wizard subclasses bonus
Heijoushin replied to dunehunter's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
New bonuses would help, but honestly, what we really need is enough wizard spells that each specialist wizard can fulfill their role thematically. For example, enough summoning spells that the Conjurer can select one per level. (Like the D&D games) Or more shapeshifting spells so that a Transmuter could potentially become a shapeshifting specialist like the druid (or maybe change "summoned weapons" into "transmuted weapons") Sure, they would overlap with other classes, but is that really such a bad thing? Honestly, if you want specialist wizards, then each one needs almost as much love as an individual class.
