Was there ever any plans for an expansion for Icewind Dale 2?
Heijoushin replied to MotelOK's topic in Obsidian General
Not sure if anyone on these boards can answer that. I personally loved the Icewind Dale series and was always looking for news of an expansion or sequel but never found anything. Since Baldur's Gate was always the favorite brother, I presume that's where they were directing their energies when the studio closed (the wiki says "Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance III and the original Fallout 3" were cancelled). RIP Icewind Dale -
Funny/bad dialogue
Heijoushin replied to Verde's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
"I. Hate. Boats." Eder: "Careful, she's right behind you." Actually, I thought that was kind of amusing considering you're about to embark on a seafaring adventure. -
Can I Ignore Caed Nua?
Heijoushin replied to BelgarathMTH's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But maybe that's the "crazy tactical strategy battle" he's talking about? I sympathize, though. It's annoying to have to come back to fight some rabble when you're in the middle of something else. -
Careful there, Achilles old fruit. You're at risk of sounding like an edgy atheist I'm really surprised Josh said such a thing. In fact, from anyone else, I would say it's absolute nonsense. The Engwithans built the gods and the cycle of life and death. What's the greatest achievement of "modern" animancers? Transferring souls into inanimate objects, maybe? And they're always portrayed as these eccentric oddballs stumbling around blindly in a new field. Based on what we've seen, I really can't see them being able to rebuild the wheel.

Not bothersome, merely food for thought. According to the wiki, elves in pillars live for about 200-310 years. That's not nearly as extreme as Tolkien elves, but you'd still think they would, on average, be more worldly and experienced than the other races. Sure, as mentioned above, some might be boring chaps that have spent the last 200 years farming, but you'd also expect to meet a couple of "been there, done that" sort of elves who've traveled the world and grown cynical. Or perhaps some master craftsman who've been perfecting what they do for 200 years. Heck, if nothing else, they should have some great stories to tell with such long lifespans.

The Great Western Stag, huh? Does that mention something significant about the nature of Eothas? I'll check it out next time I play. The different between being a slave and being free? I dunno... Nobody seems to be complaining about being "enslaved" to the gods, though. Well, I suppose that's indeed the same Iovara vs. Thaos argument. I can understand a god wanting to push his people so that they fulfill their potential, but man, Eothas' methods are extreme. It's like tossing your kid in a lion's den. Sure, there's a risk that he may be killed but as long as you believe in that potential! Okay, fair enough. He's the god of light, not goodness. I guess he's being a **** according to his nature.

The game has plenty of themes, even if they don't mention them outright. It's true, as some people have said, that you do change the history of the Deadfire. Choosing which faction comes out on top is pretty significant. However, after you come back from Ashen Maw, fresh with the revelation that Eothas is going to potentially destroy all life on the planet, the squabbles of Deadfire's factions seem so... petty and irrelevant. Okay, so I've backed the queen. Doesn't matter if all life on the planet is extinguished in a generation or two. I think this is because they don't explain Eothas' motives properly, but the final two conversations with him are such downers. He's breaking the cycle of life and death to prove some great philosophical point about the nature of people and the gods, and screw the consequences. That's like two kings starting a war for some noble cause. Sure, to them it sounds noble, but it's the little people who are going to get hurt. Some god of goodness. Achilles?

My 2 cents: No to Rauatai, Old Vailia and the Vailian Republics, because we've had enough Vailians and Auamua for a while. Aedyr Empire is arguably a very typical fantasy setting, but I'd like to see how the whole humans marrying elves culture works. Also, the Roman inspired architecture might be cool. The Ixamitl Planes could be cool, because I think you'd run into a lot of wacky philosophers like Zahua. I loved listening to that guy spout deep stuff. The White that Wends... well, we've already had White March and will have Beast of Winter for snowy settings, but I would like to learn more about the Pale Elves. The Living Lands... I dunno. I think this will just be one big jungle. That doesn't strike be as particularly interesting.

Yeah, if he's the leader of this doomsday cult, then he must play a significant role in the story. You'd think that would be companion worthy. I guess any new party members in the DLCs will be sidekick from now on. I hate to complain, because it looks awesome, but it would have been really really nice if they added the Priest of Rymrgand class or the new Godlike as selectable options for your main character.
