I'd buy it other than Cate Blanchett. Maybe she lost a bet?

We ain't getting any younger, so I'm happy to hear older folks still get their freak on. Good on her. We are a lot closer to her age than the young starlets, Gfted1.

No, not really. The idea that Reagan is the same as Bush is the same as Clinton is the same as W Bush is the same as Obama is the same as Trump is the same as Biden is not going hold up under scrutiny. And again, the criticism of all of these guys is non-stop. The western media eats theie own. What does the Russia media do?

I don't think we should confuse the concern over a lack of opposition to Putin with support for said opposition. The problem is opposition is not allowed to exist in Russia. That is major component of tyranny. I doubt many in the west would prefer Navalny or the Wagner group chief guy. Alternatively, I'd guess a fair amount of people are depressed by the Presidential candidates this year. But at least there is a choice, and there is an open debate, and there is open criticism, and there is an end date to their terms.

I was going to say! 😆 Kennedy wasn't assassinated by the CIA, despite what Oliver Stone would have you believe. But you are also going back 60 years to pull an example. Trump is the new Teflon Don. He can convince a bunch of yahoos to storm the Capitol Building and is still going to end up on the ballot in every state. He might even end up President. I'm not sure what that is an example of, but it certainly isn't comparable to Putin's Russia.- The All Things Political Topic - A conservative is someone who makes no changes and consults his grandmother when in doubt

Yeah, I mentioned it undercut his credibility, which is a shame. Comedians are storytellers, not journalists. That being said, the Daily Show has always required a mix of both.- The TV and Streaming Thread: US Writers/Actors Strike Edition
Whoa, John Stewart is back on the Daily Show. I liked Trevor Noah, but nobody nails the exhausted antipathy of the American people quite like Stewart.- What are you Playing Now? - Back to the Grind
Yeah I think I played one of the recent NBA 2K games, and had a similar experience. It's a shame because I really enjoyed a few from the previous decade. At least I still have MLB The Show. We really need a decent hockey game on the PC. I've started playing Saint's Row, the new one. They really flubbed the marketing on this game. I was a big fan of SR2-4, but this one didn't appeal to me in the trailers. Imagine my surprise to find it is a very good game. I do miss my British accent option though.- What are you Playing Now? - Back to the Grind
Picked up Enshrouded, another one of these new survival games that just hit early access. So far it seems pretty decent. Exploring the early parts of the world is enjoyable and it is a good looking game. It was only $30, so I'll probably stick with it.- The All Things Political Topic - A conservative is someone who makes no changes and consults his grandmother when in doubt

I joined up around a year late as well. I didn't start really hanging around until after I finished KotOR 2 though. I came here trying to figure out what the heck happened to the ending of that game, and I ended up staying forever. I think the NHL thread was what drew me in. I miss that one.- What are you Playing Now? - Back to the Grind
I'm a big fan of Wolverine. I named my child Logan, after all. But yeah, he played very similar to Spider-Man in terms of chain attacks, and we already had Blade to fill the brooding anti-hero role. This game just occupies such a strange spot in the Firaxis lineup. I don't finish a lot of games, but I do finish every Firaxis one, so it was weird that it took me so long to commit to playing this one. Once I did, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I'm left hoping they leave this Marvel silliness behind and go back to Xcom. edit: Correction - I never played Haunted Hollow by Firaxis- What are you Playing Now? - Back to the Grind
Finally finished up Marvel Midnight Suns. It was a fantastic game from a combat perspective. I enjoyed the mix of Xcom style combat with card usage. The story and exploring the Abbey was good, for the most part. It got pretty tiring talking to all of these people about life. It felt kind of repetitive, I guess. Like, there were a lot of them wanting to talk to me about my mommy issues. I didn't even get the DLC characters, and I'm positive I don't need 4 more people to chew the fat with. I feel like the hero roster could be 6 and it would have been a more focused game.- The All Things Political Topic - A conservative is someone who makes no changes and consults his grandmother when in doubt

I don't think I'm built for stand up specials. I'm looking for a 5-10 minute set. An hour is too long. This is the best stuff though. Bit of language, spoiler:- Random video game news... Games are Randomly News Worthy

Wonka is also firmly in musical territory. It isn't just the Oompa Loompa's singing (although Hugh Grant is a riot), it's the whole town. I woke up humming a few of them.- Cinema and Movie Thread: coming at you at 24fps
Things can't be that bad. It's in full color! That seems to be the main selling point. I bought Wonka last night and we watched it as a family. I was pretty skeptical about it. I grew up with the Gene Wilder movie and it was hard to imagine anyone could capture that magic. I never read the book, or at least I don't remember it. I watched the Johnny Depp version in theaters and was suitably creeped out. My kids grew up with both versions, but they definitely preferred the Gene Wilder version as well. It was very good. I'd say it was suitably magical. Timothy Chalamet was very good, and he was supported by an amazing cast.- What are you Playing Now? - Back to the Grind
Nope, it was definitely more like the McD's example. I suppose it would be more like, if you don't like this Chef's restaurant, you probably won't like his new location even though the menu is different. Larian makes a certain type of game, regardless of new setting and characters.- Funny Stuff - It is the ability to take a joke, not make one, that proves you have a sense of humor

So Larian is Madonna and Black Isle was Whitney Houston? That analogy works for me! edit: Bioware is clearly Bobby Brown. - The All Things Political Topic - A conservative is someone who makes no changes and consults his grandmother when in doubt
