Looks like Jimmy Kimmel is coming back Wednesday, which is was either the plan all along, or Disney desperately trying to hit the undo button after getting lambasted by everyone that isn't on Team Maga. My guess is the latter.

Wartales has a new expansion coming out that lets you create your own fief. I've been playing through the Pirates of Belarion and enjoying sailing the high seas. I also started a new game of Return to Moria. It has been awhile and they've added a lot, but the big thing I'm looking forward to is the next expansion, which will add other dwarves and exterior areas. So my dwarf has been swinging his pickaxe, singing some songs, and preparing for company.

Tuesday I gave a whole lesson on the 1st amendment and free speech. I addressed the Charlie Kirk shooting, but my focus was mostly on the freedom of religion, speech, media, and protest that the 1st amendment covers. Now the FCC has pushed a network to remove Jimmy Kimmel from his late-night show. He wasn't removed because of costs or ratings, he was removed immediately after the FCC made threatening statements. I'm not sure how to proceed with my lesson. edit: Also what the hell is happening that the head of the FCC is going on podcasts? Like when did that become a thing?

I'm pretty sure he will be held up as a martyr for longer than a year. Also, the Valhalla thing is super weird. This guy is the director of the FBI? The reality is this was a mentally ill person, but instead of focusing resources on mental health, which has been in crisis for decades, people will just attack each other over identity politics.

I mean, it starts in Mosul during the day, but there are a lot of dark parts. Probably not as bad as the first one.

I've been watching Terminal List: Dark Wolf and enjoying it. It isa very good military thriller. The first series focused on Chris Pratt and was a bit more revengy. This one has Taylor Kitsch and is more spy thriller. I like it better. Also Kitsch is my new favorite actor. I didn't know he played pro hockey. His whole personality changes when he starts talking about it:

I watched this with my wife this weekend and it was fantastic. It might not make as much sense if you didn't grow up in the Bay Area in the 80's, but I think it will hold up as a funky piece of cinema for everyone.

Yeah, I mean the books are basically about how the headmaster keeps putting these kids in mortal danger. Hogwarts would have been shut down 10 times over in the real world.

I always chuckle at how people want to control protests. Like, feel free to protest, as long as it doesn't inconvenience me or make me upset. What do you think the point of protesting is if it doesn't cause a stir? The only things off limits should be property destruction and violence. You want to burn a flag, a bra, or a maga hat that you bought yourself, or march over a bridge and cause a traffic jam, go get it. Fight the power. ️

It's shocking that a guy that lives in a literal gold tower doesn't care about poor people. Who could have predicted such a thing?

Monday we dropped my daughter off at SFSU for her freshman year. It is pretty weird moving a child out of the house after 18+ years. I'm excited and nervous for her. I didn't sleep well the first night. So far so good, she had a job interview Thursday (lifeguard at campus pool.) She is taking the train home for the weekend, so we will still be seeing her often enough.

Enshrouded gets wet! This is a pretty big change to the whole game world. I've been playing a lot lately. I love the desert biome.

Hot damn, they are nailing this Fallout series. I don't know what we did to deserve this. I guess it is my cosmic reward for sitting through the Wing Commander movie in theaters.

He was great in Wing Commander.

I'll wait for the 8-part Netflix documentary.

Amazon Prime has always had the 2nd tier content compared to most streamers. They've hit it big with a few TV shows, but most of their documentaries and movies are pretty weak. That being said, I save way over the cost of Prime in shipping, so it's hardly an issue.

I use sunscreen as much as possible. Both my parents have stuff removed regularly by their dermatologist, so I'm trying to stay ahead of that. My skin doctor tells me most of the stuff I have is just barnacles, so that is an interesting old man thing I've got going on.

I've had Apple TV for the summer, mostly for Murderbot, but it does have a ton of good movies and shows that aren't anywhere else. I'll probably cancel it soon though. We get our live TV through Hulu, which comes with Disney+ and ESPN+, so that's a nice freebie. Then I pay for Netflix, Amazon Prime (more for the shipping), and usually add or drop HBO depending on mood. It's too many, but still cheaper than Cable was.
