Cinema and Movie Thread: coming at you at 24fps

The Beekeeper - John Wick with Bees. Jason Statham is always fun. He probably had about 10 lines of dialogue in this, and that was plenty. It was exactly what I was expecting. Kind of had a Hitman feel to it in certain parts. The bad guys are cyberscammer, and my daughter recently got scammed out of $400, so that was cathartic. -
A vote for Biden is a vote for his team, which are likely pulling most of the levers at this point. They are going to push the agenda of the party so they can all keep their jobs. A vote for Trump is a vote for Trump. Sure, he has a team, and they may try to influence him, but they are also just trying to hang on until they have enough stories to cut loose and write a good memoir.

Why would anyone watch the debate? These aren't new candidates. You aren't going to learn something from them. What a waste of time and energy.

It's good to know my nagging affects more than just my children. I might actually be closer to your line of thinking on the books though. I mean I read them and thought they were fun. I'm very appreciative of how they inspired a lot of young readers to tackle some pretty thick books. My wife has dyslexia and reading has always been a chore for her, but Harry Potter and The Hunger Games were accessible enough for her. But it isn't high literature. That sounds snobby, but I think I read them right after I'd finished off my Russian lit phase in my 20's (Bulgakov, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy) so I earned my snob badge with some pretty dense texts. Bulgakov isn't dense, btw. He is a delight to read and I still go back to his works. Anyways, I've never felt the need to revisit the books. The movies, on the other hand, are fun to have on in the background during certain times of the year. They are whimsical. As a family, we've watched them, we've visited the theme parks, we've got the swag. It's a fun IP to immerse yourself in. -

On the topic of Harry Potter, we did the Warner Bros. Studio tour this last week and it had some fun Harry Potter stuff. I got put into house Slytherine by the sorting hat, but I think that is because I was wearing a green shirt. The merch was also pretty reasonable. I ended up with a nice Leaky Cauldron beer glass. I wonder where they will go with the IP at this point? Fantastic Beasts was a bit of a letdown. Hogwarts Legacy was great. JK Rowling is persona non grata. It's in a bit of a weird place. -
Obsidian Entertainment: My Thoughts on most of their games
Hurlshort replied to jeffreystocks's topic in Computer and Console
I find that, even if the gameplay or setting don't appeal to me, I still appreciate the writing and character development that goes into most Obsidian titles. I've seen enough of my favorite developers go under that I figure I'll do what I can to support their art. -

Bought a Narwhal in Starfield, my first class C ship. It is pretty fancy. I don't love the 3 deck setup, but it has a ton of reactor power. Now I need to level up my command skill so I can have a full crew. Oh and my wife Sarah died. So sad. I guess I'll just cry on Andreja's shoulder for a bit. Also Mickey Caviar is my favorite NPC. -
I actually get that part. I moved quickly with my wife and we've been married for 20 years now. There is no need to pussyfoot around if the chemistry is right. That being said, if you aren't feeling it, you aren't feeling it, and letting her know early is best. If she doesn't want to waste time, then don't waste her time. I wamted to see my wife every day after the first date.

I don't really remember most of the stuff they listed from Rogue One. I'm sure they were in there at some point, it's just not what I came away with. C3PO and R2D2 were in it? I think Vader was at the end? The memorable parts were Mads Mikkelsen and Ben Mendelsohn going back and forth. Forest Whitaker playing a terrorist. Alan Tudyk as an assassin droid (HK-47 fan service?) Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang were also a treat. So yeah, it feels like this RLM video is a better fit for all the SW other stuff, but I get that they need to keep the lights on. -
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cjll01220yeo This story confuses the heck out of me. Is Wells Fargo evaluating employees by how often they jiggle their mouse? Why is that an important metric? The whole "try and look busy" philosophy makes no sense to me. Did you get your job done? Great, then it shouldn't matter how long you were jiggling your mouse.

I regret marrying Sarah in my recent playthrough. She is awkward as heck. Like, keep it professional, lady. Andreja was a lot more chill.

Rogue One was the best of the new SW movies, so I don't think it was a huge shock that the spin off series from that movie turned out good. They really are the only ones that use Star Wars as a sandbox to tell a good story, instead of trying to capture a reminiscent moment from the original trilogy. -

Huh. I should probably watch Ahsoka at some point. But I also think I was supposed to watch Clone Wars or Rebels or The Bad Batch to know what is going on, and that seems like a lot of TV time that I don't really have. I also stalled out on the MCU trying to watch that Nick Fury series. That was really slow. -

One of my favorite books, and it looks like a pretty great adaptation of it. -
For Midnight Suns? I thought it was better than I expected. It's not really a question of winning the fight, but rather how you can maximize the environment and the hero abilities best. I'd rate it above average. It also rarely dragged out, so at least it knew enough to not overstay its welcome.

Invincible is pretty good, and relatively short. I think I need to finish up the last season of Expanse, but I'm kind of lost on the story and don't want to restart it. -

Starfield - There are some quality of life fixes from when I played at release, and I set it so that I can carry everything. It is going well and I'm enjoying exploring the universe. I am still figuring out how to make a decent settlement, but I am better at ship design now. -

It must have done well enough to warrant 3 movies, so I don't think you are alone. It's a pretty fun dynamic and doesn't take itself too seriously, so I've enjoyed them. -
Would be cool if the Republican Party leadership wasn't completely inept and they decided to push him off the ballot. It seems weird because they would win the presidency with a different candidate, but I guess they are worried about losing their own seats. Crazy time.

Youtube recommendations, let's beat the algorithm
Hurlshort replied to Sarex's topic in Way Off-Topic
I watched it without sound on reddit originally, and that was what really sold me. If he manages to get a studio backing, then obviously that would be a a big win and the sound would be handled by someone else. Although I thought the narrator was a good campy choice for the clip. Reminded me of the snake for The Jungle Book for some reason. Or maybe Skeletor: -

Pretty excited if this becomes a thing. Like and subscribe, this guy needs numbers as he negotiates with studios. -

Same here. I recognize a few, but they don't look interesting to me.
