  1. ^great, and everybody has that option. Personally, I've never even considered going back to an inn after every fight - that'd be boring and nuts. I've also found myself making actual choices about whether to use up a camping supply or struggle on through the next fight (rather than rest spam). I think the camping supplies and limited spells do their job just fine. The fact that there's a workaround for people who can't manage the limitations is also ok - play the game according to your ability and interest.
  2. If you equip it in on of your ring slots, you should have the 'restore endurance' ability in your ability bar for that character - just push it during battle and it should restore a little lost endurance. It works twice per encounter (though becomes less useful later on)
  3. I only keep 4 or 5 and it's still doing it - I'd thought it fixed as it didn't happen for a couple of days, then it came back. (Can still play via the workaround mentioned before, but it's still a (minor) annoyance).
  4. Assuming Windows (I'm on Win7 - YMMV): If your F drive used to be your boot drive ( C: ) Then try looking in: F:\Users\[Name]\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity (and move a copy of them to the corresponding folder on the new C drive). (Pillars may or may not need to be reinstalled to the F drive first)
  5. Despite minor flaws, I'd rate it nearer 5 than 4. Can definitely see multiple playthroughs happening. I enjoy the combat, the story, the roleplaying, the atmosphere, etc. A solid 4.8 out of 5 (probably to increase after some bug-fixing, and maybe better balancing the levelling rate).
  6. It would be better to allow you to choose which bonuses apply to which companions - I'd like a wizard to spend their time in the library working on lore or upping intellect at the forum, while a fighter could go to the training ground to increase might etc. Since we have to choose one bonus for everyone, it means most of them end up not being used. (And makes staying in an Inn better by far)
  7. Oh yeah - that's the one I ended up quitting on and 'I'll come back later' too - ended up with the non-violent solution too.
  8. I've avoided a few fights by using alternate resolutions (impersonation / diplomacy), as well as fighting bosses too, but if I'm in the wilderness/dungeon-crawling and there's a red-circled enemy there, I fight. Not had too many part-wipes - but when I did, I tried again. (Worst was soloing a bear early on - took about 4 or 5 tries). I'm enjoying the combat (as well as the story, roleplaying etc) so why not?
  9. ^and click on one on the right to remove it to make room for a different one. (can only have 4 prep'd spells per level - but can choose in combat which ones to cast (so can cast 2x fireball for example - you don't need to prepare 2 fireballs ahead of time - just have fireball in one right-hand slot))
  10. It replaces your weapon with a thrown elemental bomb - random element between freeze, burn, shock and corrode - each time you throw one, a new random element bomb is created in your hand until the spell runs out or if you change weapon. (So cast it and then 'attack' enemies)
  11. Doesn't it work if the character is on 1 health and maimed (and would therefore die at the next hit) to bring them higher (and would therefore only be knocked unconscious at the next hit)? - allows for continued exploring with lower risk. Or is the character still 'maimed' and then would die anyway? 'Wound Binding' annoyed me - I assumed it could be applied to any character but it's only usable on 'self' (which makes no sense from the name - should've been renamed). 'Luckily', my priest got a couple of uses out of it already.
  12. ^rename 'bonded grief' to 'bonded loss' - the ranger is bonded to their companion - having their companion unconscious saps them of some of their ability. Ranger and companion draw strength from each other - with one down, they get worse. I had the same problem with Sagani's pet getting knocked out a lot - until I stopped the fox from charging face first into melee - now I get Itumaak on the sides more, after Eder has engaged his fill, and I remember to heal endurance for them too. Now, Sagani and Itumaak are useful. (Admittedly not as powerful as some of the other classes and could be improved by making the pet a little tougher / having talents to improve general pet defence).
  13. No, no, no. Where are your priorities? - we need to start a kickstarter to hire a full-time voice actor to narrate the forums. I'm tired of reading through post after post, page after page. I want to be able to hear it all. Preferably from a VA who can do multiple voices to keep the personalities straight. A stretch-goal could include narrating the buttons too when you hover over them. 'More Reply Options' is just too much.
  14. Set sail for new lands sounds more like a PoE2 idea (unless it's just a side-story a la Werewolf Island - that would be fun) I want a TOTSC style expansion - add a new quest-hub (3rd city or large town) and a few more areas to explore. Rogue companion (though any other companions would be great) - fitting seamlessly into the game, to have banters with others and comment on original campaign stuff too.
  15. ^Good suggestion - I too find it odd that the filters just grey out the other items - it doesn't really grey them out enough for me so I see little benefit. Not essential but I'd welcome the change.
  16. So far I'm loving the game as-is. I'm fighting most battles by virtue of exploring the whole map (Fog Of War Begone!), though I did take a mostly stealth/impersonation route through one area, and talk down another. I'm also enjoying the combat. I'm also roleplaying (mostly). Obsidian
  17. The size of the hotfix is a steam issue - they have some strange way of packaging it. Nothing Obsidian can do about that, I think. On gog, the same patch (patch+2 hotfixes) is only about 85MB.
  18. ^Win7 Ultimate, game installed to D:\Games\Pillars of Eternity and saved games in default c:\user\name\saved games\pillars of eternity It's not every time, it's not even every time the computer is shut down - it just happened twice (same fix both times for me) (though oddly, leaving one save file didn't help, but cutting+pasting it over and back did)
  19. For me it happened again - I removed all but one save-file - no good - then I removed that one save file (over to a different drive, don't know if that matters), then copied it back again - it worked - weird.
  20. Achievements are only through Steam's system - they're meta-game rather than in-game (things like "completed game solo" or something - don't know any specific examples as I'm on gog version too - I don't care for 'achievements'). Enabling console cheats disables the achievements. So no, you're not missing out on anything - you can 'achieve' anything on the gog version - you just don't get a shiny badge on steam to say you did it
  21. Did you try this: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/75712-load-option-greyed-out-in-start-menu-possible-workaround/ (basically, backup all saves elsewhere and then ONLY move the latest save back to the saved games folder) - worked for me.
  22. Thank you - this worked for me - (I also tried a reinstall). Removed saved games to a backup folder, just moved the last save back and now it shows up and loads ok
  23. Orlan, Orlan or Orlan, please Both Hearth and Wild, boys and girls. As for class / feel - neutral would be better so they can be used for any class (ideal would be lots of portraits for all classes, but realistically I'll be happy with some general "what I wear under my armour/robes" )
  24. Nonetheless - modders are at it already http://www.nexusmods.com/games/mods/searchresults/?src_order=2&src_sort=0&src_view=1&src_tab=1&src_game=852&src_language=0&page=1&pUp=1 Things like new areas will be the most difficult to mod in, but other stuff looks to be doable. There'll probably be some NPC mods in the future. How long depends on how complex it is to do, I guess.
