  1. unless you mean you tried both, in which case I guess post this in the tech-support forum
  2. Despite the nerf, my traps are actually working since the patch - previously they were bugged for me and virtually never triggered, even when an enemy ran over them - so far (still only level 6 on this playthrough) they work fine. Not battle winners but not completely useless. I agree that the higher level nerf sounds a bit much. I'd much rather a decrease in power than a decrease in accuracy anyway. Will have to see how it plays out.
  3. Do we know that Devil of Caroc was a designed companion? - maybe it was just an adventurer's hall companion added for that playthrough that we saw the screenie of. Are there any game files for it, like you found for Forton?
  4. I figured it was just a memory (spiritual echo from the past) - one Watcher skill is seeing things like that. Meeting an actual spirit results in conversation / interaction, whereas seeing this memory thing is only like a story flashback - your choices for what to say to them make it a little interactive but I don't think it makes any real difference to what you see.
  5. Did it 'award' you 0XP or was it just not stated. There should be something when you turn the quest in to Kolsc, I think (who should show up right away as you start to leave - did he?) If not, you might need to go find him in the cabin, talk to him, then return to the Hold (maybe)
  6. Isn't there only really one plot critical NPC and the game ends abruptly if you kill them? Don't know for sure (guess I never killed them - haven't tried the murder everyone approach) - I'd thought there were at least 2 or 3 critical NPCs (that you can attack before resolving) because you need them to access other points. Ether way, talking to people first to find out should make you safe from that.
  7. ^best solution then would be to change the text and remove that voiced section, no? (It's only one paragraph of voiced, or is it a lot?)
  8. Generically named civilians ('commoner', 'peasant' etc) and gold-plated backer NPCs can be killed without removing quests. Named NPCs - talk to them first to see if they have a quest (they may be the object of a quest, rather than the giver - in such cases, killing them is normally one solution but not every time). I think it's possible to kill plot-critical NPCs, and thus make it impossible to complete - such people are normally guarded and behind locked doors - but not always.
  9. ^You can check your saved games folder and see the 'game complete' save if you've finished the game (I'm guessing its purpose is to be imported into a sequel (or TOB-style expansion if they go that route). Personally, I'd prefer a TOTSC-style expansion to make the main game-world bigger.
  10. Confirmed that books count as stolen if taken from a thief-icon container. Not sure if there are any unique books under such conditions.
  11. Oh - and here I was making strategic decisions about resting v. keeping bonuses (which I thought was the point of the not-encouraging-rest-spamming mechanic at play here). I guess resting could take you over that time-limit, which is maybe what I've been noticing before.
  12. I'm pretty sure that isn't what I suspect, but what is it? Probably Sand the wizard from NWN2 OC
  13. It's *supposed* to last only until your next rest - I've noticed in the latest patch (1.05) that it has, once for me, persisted after resting in the wild. Didn't notice it doing that in 1.04. Might be a bug.
  14. As far as I can tell, even in areas with steals, books don't count - you can happily take all the books from peoples' homes/offices/temples and nobody blinks. (Can't be sure though - just don't remember seeing books in a 'thief-icon' box) I've seen lots of books in 'thief-icon' containers. And that's been enough to keep me from trying to take them, however that doesn't mean that books won't count as a theft (though that would seem to defeat the purpose of having the warning). Sounds like more testing may be in order. Well, I'm playing a rogue in this playthrough and he can't resist so I'll give it a try

  16. ^Either that or as suggested above and elsewhere: Just split the speaking and action parts of the dialogue into different sections so you're reading the opening action, then hitting continue, then hearing the speaking, then reading the action after that, then hitting continue, then hearing the rest of the speaking.
  17. Huh? Thats how my game works - no fog after exploring - yours comes back?? There's the black FOW and then the grey FOW - the grey one sticks around making the beautiful envirnoments less beautiful when you zoom out
  18. Making a build is not easy because it requires meta- and game mechanics knowledge, a new player simply does not have that. One of the negatives ofgames like this is how much decision pressure is put on the player at the start of the game, while not providing any meaningful information. For example in TOEE there werent even weapons in the game for some selectable weapon focus talents, hehe. Predict this. Stat points are just a hurdle for new players, unnecessary imo, Blizzard realized it and removed stats in Diablo 3. Ultimately strength comes from items and talents, stats are just there to piss people off on NPCs, and provide some "roleplay" for such "interesting" stuff as weak fighters or dumb mages. In fact, stats limit roleplay, because they pigeonhole the role right at the start already. Making a SPECIFIC build is not easy - making a build that can play the game and win IS easy here. (There are even recommended stats if you don't know). What does TOEE's problems have to do with PoE? In PoE there are good weapons (and armours) of all types and they're easily (too easily IMO) enchantable to bridge the gap. PoE =! Diablo - what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. No stats = no conversation options based on stats, Gear (in PoE) can make up for shortfalls in one stat, or enhance your best stat -> choice
  19. Generally I prefer premade characters for my team - just took those on my 1st playthrough - I like the banters, interactions and quests. For my next, I plan to take mostly premade characters, but add in one or 2 AH companions. It's great to have both options. Hopefully an expansion could add in one or two more premade companions.
  20. ^Ah, ok - Arnie's not the stongest but ok. Just going by what I heard - 3 does not equal barely capable of holding own weight up.
  21. But in PoE, 'Might=3' is not the might of a toddler but of a weaker adventurer - these are not D&D numbers, these are a new scale with less severe swings than seen in (A)D&D (though having movement penalties for wearing heavy armour with low might could be a good idea). So there is one scale for "adventurers" and one for the peasents? Is there a source for this? If 10 is the average -' might' for example- and 18 (19) is Arnold Schwarzenegger, someone with a 'might' of 3 should crumble under his own equipment. Similarly, an adventurer with an 'Intellect' of 3 shouldn't be allowed to adventure without a carer and protective headgear (so no godlikes). No - but a peasant isn't a toddler - they work on a farm for example and have muscles to match Where are you getting 18 is Arnie?
  22. Just finished watching - very cool, glad this got made Love how they're talking about wanting to make the expansion+Sequel(s) at the end

  24. Thanks for the tip, but in steam theres also only a "coming soon" text file. There is also nothing which should block the stream. When i click on "watch video" i see the first image in which you see the tv and on the left screen bottom the "July 2012" Tag, but when i click on the the "play" button or click in the Video the videoplayer gets black and nothing happens. I still can stop the video, the pause button is still there, but i can't move forward or anything else. really strange. Yeah - it'll be up on steam+gog later, not now. Make sure you've not got any scripts blocked (e.g. using firefox noscript) - I had to allow scripts, then allow some more before it'd load up and work.
  25. At least it is loading for you. For me i only get the loading screen for 20 minutes and nothing loads/happens. Hope it will be on youtube (or there will be a download link in the Products tab pretty please?), so i can see it too. It should eventually be downloadable through gog/steam (my gog account has 'Documentary: Coming Soon') They mentioned before allowing certain tier backers to dl through the backer portal but others maybe only streaming. Not sure if that's still the case.
