Custom Portraits *for NPCs*
Silent Winter replied to Zombra's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
We should still be able to drop alternate portraits in an override folder a la BG - can't see why not -
Can anyone with PRO photoshop skills change for me crossbow for rifle/Arquebus? thx in advance PRO photoshop skillz cost money. For free you get my unawesome Amatuer-GIMP skillz: (arqeubus is from the link to the icon - too small so scaled up - find a better pic of an arqeubus for superior results) If nobody gets to it soon, I'll give it a go - out of time now

How do you want it modified? Just cropped for use in game? (in which case - easy) Or do you want something more in-depth (in which case - not so easy, afraid you'll have to ask someone else) In case it's the former - see below (I also sharpened the image slightly - if you just want a straight crop or includng more of the image, let me know - or download a copy of GIMP for free - it's easy to learn to crop and resize)

click the 'yo what up' in her signature - links to her tumblr account for her artwork - a few nice portraits there, including the WIP nature godlike - coming along nicely

Mature ESRB rating

Just to clarify - I thought gog only offered refunds if the game didn't work on your system (after liasing with their tech guys to try to get it to work) - you may want to check if it's a 'no questions asked' money back guarantee or merely a guarantee that it'll work on your system and money back if it doesn't. -
Nice

Three I've done - not in PoE style though - just 3D-renders. If anyone's good at paintovers they can give it a go to PoE-ize them. These are too large for the game (420x660 vs. 210x330 needed for game) and no small versions (got both available, just not uploading them all into the forum yet - if I do a few more, and after the game's out so I can see how to zip them up properly, I might do a mini-portrait pack.

Except.. you know, nobody would actually do that with the watermarks. Except.. you know, you pretty much have to crop out the watermark to use it in-game for the dimensions (and she's said that's ok - just not reposting)

Tiers to SKUs
Silent Winter replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It does not take add-ons into account. There is no easy way for us to map those keys. If you have add-ons you will have to download them from the Backer Portal.- 84 replies

that doesn't negate her copyright - just makes it subject to another's rights. Obsidian could object, but nobody else holds any rights over it. Someone who creates a derivative work, owns copyright in the derivations. E.g., I could take a public domain image, add a moustache and bowler hat to the mona lisa for example, and own the copyright in that (specific) work (just not in the original work from which it was derived). Same applies to anything else. Someone else can make a new pic of mona lisa in a bowler hat and moustache, they just couldn't use my pic without permission (legally speaking). She's already said we can use them ourselves in our games - she just doesn't want them reposting - I don't see the big deal myself.

Update 91: Closing in on March 26th!
Silent Winter replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
^I can't see it, seems to swing around - or are we talking minor clipping? (unfortunately, I can't unhear it) -
That's classist! A rangers bear is as much a part of him as his shirt. More so; you don't take damage when your shirt is cut! Discrimination at it's finest, I say. Bears can be perfectly well behaved (following is an unfinished WIP that got lost in a computer migration and will have to be rebuilt eventually) :

What kind of program? I tried some 3D before, but I didn't get too far ..to much time in between. (made some interesting tests, but never anything finished i think.) Well you could learn it... Those are the ones I care most about anyways. I started out with Daz Studio (like Poser) - just using pre-made models and figures and putting together scenes+lighting etc. It's kinda like photography with more control over the weather Also used Bryce for outdoor scenery-type things. More recently I've been learning Blender - early days but step by step. I could learn drawing - if I had enough time (and a tablet - need to get one of those intuos ones that act like a 2nd monitor ... money vs. awesome ). I actually need a scanner to get my pen/pencil sketches onto the PC for editing. And 'Yay' They don't - but I just did an experiement with the aumaua one and they can be cropped and shrunk to the right size without losing much of the image (in-game needs 210x330 for large - these are 400x579). Thanks again for sharing (and don't worry about those saying you should remove the watermark - if someone really wants to use one of these in-game, it can be easily modified in gimp/ps/mspaint to fit - no drawing skills required - rather than reposting, they should be directing interested parties to the artist's site anyway, so as to encourage more awesome )

I don't mind, so long as they're promoting them even more in other places - we've all heard of PoE, we also need others to hear of it

Get GIMP - start new image - select paintbrush, click anywhere on canvas, hold down shift, click anywhere else - straight line. You'll be drawing stick men in no time with the handy 'circle' tool for the head. ... I can't help you with the painting of actual awesome I'm afraid - have you tried 3D? No drawing required.
